Process Monitoring/Troubleshooting with SEEQ
What do you like best about the product?
SEEQ tools for creating conditions and capsules allow for quick and easy troubleshooting of issues/incidents.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I have run into issues in the past, or had suggestions for improvement, the SEEQ support team has been very responsive, and even included some of my suggestions in updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Troubleshooting a plant with 1000's of signals can be quite difficult. Utilizing SEEQ tools to create conditions and capsules allows me to quickly pin point root causes.
Seeq value through food industry
What do you like best about the product?
Seeq helps impulsionate advanced analytics to process engineers and improve analysis quality and velocity. Investigations to process parameters that before Seeq could take days, now is done within minutes/hours. I also appreciate the Office Hours to help with quick questions about the tool and analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
The connection to flat files, it has to be manually done and everytime we have nem values in an excel, for example, we would have to upload it again in Seeq format, it would be good to have a more simple/easier way to do this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Production problems within manufacturing processes, identification of mechanical failures, baseline for business case calculation, modelling for energy consumption - all those help improce acelearated continuous improvement in my field and company.
Seeq for time-series analytics
What do you like best about the product?
The formula language and functions are what I believe are Seeq's most valuable attributes
What do you dislike about the product?
The visualization and dashboarding tools are relatively limited within Seeq. This requires users to export data into tools like PowerBI or Grafana instead of having a 1-stop-shop in Seeq.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Seeq is directly improving our process engineer problem solving efficiency. Without Seeq, engineers either avoid data analysis alltogether, or spend hours working with SQL/Excel to wrangle and analyze data. In addition, Seeq has been instrumental in enabling us to standardize asset performance metrics (OEE) throughout our organization's key assets.
Great tool for quick trends or deep data dives!
What do you like best about the product?
This tool lets you manipulate data quickly. The formula tool is great to eliminate manual calculation in a spread sheet. The data is usualy fast to load. Modeling is super easy. The dashboard functionality is great for a repeated look at the same things daily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Down side is that it doesnt share a tag to PI AF. Seek is good to get a formula or equation, but then additional effort is needed to create the tag in PI. The order of operations is important, its not intuitive at times on simple things like adding. when there is a gap in data or invalid date on one part of signal it takes all other signals that reference bad too. The dashboard could be easier to format around colors, sizes,
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used seeq to create usage models. The baseline for each one can be changed easily to adapt to changes in process. the time it took to make these models in seeq was franctions of the other methods used. The performance of our site vs these models can be quickly tabulated and shown in a dashboard. the dashboard then can be sent to people on site and reviewed. all done within seeq.
Great tool for manufacturing data analytics
What do you like best about the product?
- Seeq's data filtering capability and different ways of creating the conditions.
- Visualization of data against conditions created.
- The large library of inbuilt functions.
- Seeq's connection to Jupyter notebook which allows advanced users to explore beyond workbench.
- Ability to create asset groups and asset trees with ease.
- Add - on to create user defined functions is great.

What do you dislike about the product?
Some features/ bugs could be improved. To be clear, love the tool, this is more of a wishlist :)
- When creating a new workbench/organizer/datalab - Seeq places the workbench in myFolder with the timestamp as a name. Would be good if it would create a prompt to help user place the instance in the right folder and give it an appropriate name. Its easy to forget to name and save it. I have heard feedback from others as well that they spent time analyzing some data but forgot to change the name of workbench, so are having a tough time locating it.
- Workbench with asset trees created from datalab cannot be duplicated. Cannot share a duplicate copy with other users and have to share the working copy.
- Would be great if there was a way to pop-out the formula window or just make it bigger. For some of the complex formula I have had to resort to typing my calculations in notepad and then copy paste it into the tiny formula window. Become quite challenging if the calculation has 10-20 equations.
- Ability to build calculations in asset trees is a nice feature, but it seems to have a few bugs. The calculations have to be always created with first element of the first branch of the tree. Otherwise it doesnt work well.
- Would be great if the user defined function add-on could be more convenient when it comes to creating descriptions. It doesnt seem straight forward when it comes to including some basic formatting for the users.
- It doesnt seem like there is a way to delete user defined functions. I deleted a user defined from add on, but still see it in formula.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analyzing manufacturing data to troubleshoot, anaylyze control loop performance.
Seeq decreases the cost of curiosity
What do you like best about the product?
Seeq is easy to learn. After a 30 minute training, I was reviewing information. Seeq has videos and help guides available to work through challenges. Seeq uses units of measure intelligently and makes the conversions when working with different units in equations. Seeq is easy to make improvements to previous steps of a workflow. For instance, if I'm on step 5 of my workflow and I realize I need to make a change to step 2. Seeq will automatically update all steps after the change is made to step 2. This alone has saved me hours.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not everyone is using it. It would be alot easier of more colleagues used seeq.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Seeq helps me compare manufacturing locations and predict energy performance. It's easy to change the location to review a different location. I spend very little time in seeq because he helps me solve problems quickly.
Fantastic Software
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how powerful, scalable, and flexible the software is. The only limit is the user's abilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Linking data and calculations between analyses can be deceptively tricky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Seeq allows us to have an easy to use and repeatable data visualization tool as well as creating scalable data analytics.
Efficient and powerful tool for process data analysis
What do you like best about the product?
Seeq enables process engineers to quickly visualize and analyze process data. I use it every day, and it has become my go-to application for viewing and analyzing trends.
It is far easier to use than Excel / PI DataLink, and contains far more tools to slice and dice process data than PI Vision or ProcessBook. It's ability to quickly filter by process uptime, grade, and run-rate is incredibly powerful.

What do you dislike about the product?
Not much! I sometimes wish the display was a bit more flexible, so that I could arrange trends in a grid format like ParcView or PI Vision. But this is only a minor complaint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Seeq is helping me efficiently troubleshoot process-related issues.
