Versatile Password Manager with Self-Hosting and Strong API

  • April 09, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Bitwarden for storing my passwords and syncing them between devices, and even its API in my home lab. Bitwarden solves the issue of not having a password manager deeply integrated into my system and browser. I like most that it has a self-hosted option. It has allowed me peace of mind knowing that random users cannot get into my vault if there is a vendor security breach. The nicely documented API is also great for creating tools like Vaultwarden. It allows me to integrate it with a side project, a Python task runner, which is important for storing its git credentials that clone private repos. The initial setup was very easy as I installed a Helm chart of Vaultwarden and the Bitwarden UI and CLI.
What do you dislike about the product?
The app UI is slightly clunky. It doesn't use native macOS controls. It could be made to use more native macOS controls like buttons and views. It just feels out of place on a Mac.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Bitwarden for storing passwords and syncing them between devices. It solves the issue of not having a password manager integrated into my system. The self-hosted option provides security peace of mind. The well-documented API helps me integrate it into projects like a Python task runner.

Intuitive and Secure, But Needs UI Improvement

  • April 09, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Bitwarden is really easy and intuitive to use. I can grab and store my data in an easy and secure way. I appreciate software and systems that encourage my use by being simple to use and secure so I don't have to worry when using them. The initial setup of Bitwarden was also really easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that the interface is really simple and ugly and I wish I could create folders inside folders. It's all really simple. The addition of passwords should really be simple and the interface could be too, but only if it was made in a good way, but the impression that I have is that it's just not really worked on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Bitwarden to store my secrets, passwords, and data securely. It's easy and intuitive, making it simple to grab and store information without worry.

What do you like best about the product?
I use Bitwarden for password management and multi-factor authentication. I like that it is open source and free. The in-app MFA code is amazing, and having it built into the extension saves me from having to pull out my phone every time for MFA. I also find it very easy to set up, and I appreciate the support for extensions in browsers like Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes on Android, Bitwarden does not recognize password/login fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bitwarden saves me from remembering multiple logins with secure, randomly-generated passwords and in-app MFA, which stops me from using my phone every time.

Open-Source, Secure, and Great Value: Bitwarden Delivers Across Devices

  • April 09, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Bitwarden stands out as a top password manager primarily because of its open-source nature, meaning its code is publicly audited for transparency and trust — a critical factor for security software. It offers end-to-end encryption, regular third-party security audits, and even a self-hosting option for maximum control. Its free tier is remarkably generous with unlimited passwords across unlimited devices, while the premium plan is one of the most affordable at around $10/year. It works seamlessly across virtually every platform and browser, syncing effortlessly, and extras like Bitwarden Send make it even more versatile. Overall, the winning combination of open-source transparency, strong security, and an accessible free tier is what truly sets it apart from the competition.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface, while functional, feels dated and less polished compared to premium competitors like 1Password. The mobile app in particular can feel clunky, and autofill on mobile (especially Android) is less reliable than on desktop. The initial setup and import process can be confusing for non-technical users, and self-hosting, while a great option, requires meaningful technical knowledge to configure properly. Customer support is also limited on the free tier, which can be frustrating when issues arise. Compared to rivals, it lacks some convenience features like a built-in travel mode or seamless family sharing setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Bitwarden for password management !!

I find Bitwarden easy to use and user-friendly, especially in our organization. The browser extension in Google Chrome or any other browser makes it easy to access. I also love that it automatically fills in passwords whenever needed, which saves me from typing them manually. Additionally, Bitwarden protects our passwords, making it secure. I don't have to remove passwords as they are always saved there. The initial setup was straightforward, and setting up with the email and master password was a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far nothing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bitwarden solves the problem of storing passwords securely, preventing the use of sticky notes or old methods. It's easy to use, user-friendly, and automatically fills passwords on websites, which saves time by eliminating manual entry.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Bitwarden for password and passkey management. It stores highly secure passwords, enabling me to have different passwords for different accounts without forgetting them. I really like the password generator, particularly its ability to select the type of characters and length of password I want. This feature allows me to meet a site's security requirements and make my passwords as secure as possible. The initial setup was fairly easy, which is a plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that has annoyed me a few times is it seems to want to update a lot which can be annoying on a company laptop because you have to go out to your IT team to get admin logins regularly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Bitwarden to manage secure passwords, allowing me to have different passwords for different accounts without forgetting them. The password generator helps meet site security requirements.

Easy to Use, Feature-Rich Enterprise Password Manager

  • April 08, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For end users it is very easy to use and understand. It provides all the features that we as administrators are looking for in an enterprise password manager, including browser integration, autofill, MFA, etc
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really comes to mind that I would consider an actual issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Basic password hygiene in the workplace, password reuse. Enabling users to use stronger passwords/passphrases. We've even used it to modernize some older manual processes within the business that wouldn't have traditionally been thought of as being solved by a 'password manager' - but instead think of it as a 'vault' for storing and securely accessing anything that can be digitally stored the possibilities change.
