Harness CD - a true GitOps experience

  • September 11, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Having worked with many Continuous Delivery tools over the years, I can confidently say that Harness CD stands out in its category. With Next Gen, we can acheive a true GitOps experience by having all configuration files in Git and have a clear visibility of the changes made. The ease with which you can deploy an application is also something to take into consideration. Last but not the least, the support we are getting during our migration to next gen is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much actually as we are using the SaaS version. Next Gen UI takes time to get used to especially if you are used to the older version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Developer self-service, RBAC in next-gen, ability to deploy multiple AWS service types, ease of approval process when promoting your app to various envs.

  • September 01, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Harness CI provides consistent results across in CI and architecture is pluggable / scalable with any features based on customers need.

Other competitors are also good, but harness architecture would beat them going forward with enriched fucntionalities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of support on many open source plugins which are available over other CI tool. Would like to get this addressed in coming days.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- No centralized build server manitainence for CI.
- Removing Redundant work across teams and Security issues are addressed.
- Yes, it provides oppourunity to focus on business logic than handling Infra.
- It provides more time to engineers to spend time of bringing new things to CI process for product success.

Great Partner for Delivering Our CD Platform

  • September 01, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like about Harness CD is the customizability of the platform. We are able to utilize multiple resource types and deployment methods based on the needs of the product. I also like that we have been treated as partners in our relationship. They've been able to work through bugs and advancements with us.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing I dislike the most about Harness CD is that after we started with them on the previous platform, we now have to migrate to the newer platform. Since what I liked the most was the customization aspect, that has also delayed us in the migration since the older platform is not a like-for-like transition to the newer platform. Even through these challenges, Harness has been partnering with us to either include the customizations we have done into the newer platform or help us find a way to achieve the same results.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem Harness CD is solving is a delivery pipeline. Prior to Harness our deployments where push button single environment deployments. No we are able to utilize a pipeline to not only deploy, but run test suites, perform rollbacks, notifications, security checks, etc.

Simplified CD done right

  • September 01, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Harness really lowers the barrier to entry for engineers of all levels to engage, manage, and understand their delivery process. The GUI is very intuitive and offers several views to quickly visualize what's going on in either a map or console based view.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a managed service, there's still flexibility and features missing that are easier to implement yourself if you are a pro in other CD tools. However over the past year they have done an amazing job incorporating feedback and adding in feature parity to either allow for or remove the need for custom tweaks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a smaller company and need to empower our developers to engage and own the deployment process. Our DevOps team kicks things off and creates some basics and from their it's very easy for the feature teams to take ownership. Other free tools I've used in the past typically had a knowledge or experience barrier that was much higher which in turn discouraged this ownership.

takes the pain out of maintaining infrastructure for CD and let's us focus on our application

  • August 18, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We started using Harness after our initial deployment where we set up our own continuous delivery process with various open source projects. Our experience was that we ended up spending quite a bit of time troubleshooting and maintaining the infrastructure for continuous delivery instead of being able to focus our own application delivery process. Harness CD also provided a single pane glass for the CI/CD process which helps us standardize and simplify our deployment process and makes it much easier to onboard new team members. Harness support team is a pleasure to work with, and are knowledgeable and is a huge factor in the smooth operations of our continued CI/CD processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
not much. a few nitty gritty UI issues but nothing major.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had initially deployed various opensource solutions for our continuous delivery process, but as time went on, we discovered that we spent more and more time trying to keep the CD infrastructure up to date and troubleshooting the CD pipeline instead of focusing on the application. The piecemeal approach to CD pipeline also make it difficult to standardize on tools, and bring new devops team members up to speed. The single pane of glass approach, makes it easier to organize knowledge needed for the CD process and simplify the process. the multitude of harness integrations also simplify the migration process as we can slowly replace each of the legacy CD pipeline.

Harness Review

  • August 18, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can customise the environments in which you want to roll out the changes. We use Terraform and Harness helps in pointing out the mistakes. Being on user end rather than the peson actually setting up the environment it has been a good experience so far.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can get complex to get a hold of at the beginning. Especially you are not a developer and had been unaware of the applications that promotes CI/CD.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps in rolling out the desired changes for the AWS accounts I am responsible for. Helps in identifying the issues decently.

Harness Continuous Delivery - a Great Product

  • August 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When we first started looking for a new Continuous Delivery product, we decided on Harness for three main reasons - first, it could accelerate our move to the cloud while still supporting our brownfield on-prem applications. Second, it was very secure, since all communication orginates at the delegate. Third, it allwoed us to move configuration out of the product UI and into our GitHub repo. It succeeds wonderfully on all counts.

We also got a very effective and helpful team to support our efforts from the vendor. They seem legitimately concerned about our success with the product and have helped us at alls tages of the implementation. It has been a breath of fresh air compared to other vendors we have worked with.

The product is great, the support team is great. I would give Harness a hearty recommendation for anyone consideering buying it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly there is not mcuh to dislike, here. The product is solid and well thought out. I guess if I had one complaint it is that in some cases features show up in the manager without us having much prep time, so more awareness of their roadmap would help, but in the cases where it has caused issues they have moved quickly to help resolve it, and some of that can be attributed to the fact that we bought SaaS instead of going with a slef-hosted solution for the Manager.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deployments to mmulticloud infrastructure.
Developer self-service driving a huge reduction in support requests.
Faster deployment times with less overhead for developers and support staff.
Well-constructed RBAC model

Flexable CD for achieving compliance requirements

  • August 10, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Harness has help us move off a homegrown CD solution, to one that achieves our change management compliance requirements, while retaining limited human interaction CD. Terraform managment of pipelines and services makes implementation across all our dev teams a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because Harness is a common framework, there are customization limitations. The Harness team however seams to strive to resolve or limnit these limitations when we, as a client, request changes or features to help us implement our requirments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Harness has allowed us to implement change managment compliance across our entire dev deployment stack.

Harness CCM has been a game-changer for reducing our spend in AWS

  • August 09, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With Harness CCM, we've been able to see an average of 80% cost savings on the infrastructure in AWS we have configured with auto-stopping. Prior to adopting CCM, this infrastructure was on 24/7 - extremely inefficient. Now, these instances are available on-demand and some instances stay dormant for days or weeks at a time.

The Harness CCM Dashboard is user-friendly and provides data directly from AWS that helps us to understand how much we are saving.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are currently working with the Harness team to research how we can double down and surface even more actionable data within the CCM module.

We'd like to be able to see which specific traffic may be keeping instances awake that are configure with auto-stopping, and to pull status indicators from the CCM Dashboard into our internal tooling so other verticals within our organization can see the status of our infrastructure in realtime.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Harness CCM has been pivotal in bringing down our spend in AWS by making instances available on-demand with auto-stopping. End users can easily access their environments the same way they always do while infrastructure comes online quickly and quietly in the background.

Harness has helped accelerate our delivery by providing a reliable platform to deploy code from

  • August 07, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Started using Harness as it looked great for Continuous Deployment where competitors had it as an afterthought. Now that it also includes Continuous Integration, it's a great tool for building and deploying code all in one place. Coupled with it's notifications to developers on failure and the ability to also run tests and monitor deployments, it has everything we need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing models have been slightly confusing however the team has always worked very closely on improving this area.

Being an early adopter, some features have occasionally broken however responses to support tickets is always very quick and escalation has been smooth where required.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having built out a CD pipeline in a previous company using Jenkins, I know how hard it is to orchestrate various services deploying to various areas of your infrastructure. Harness comes with a lot of the complexity already built out behind the scenes. Example is you can simply define a Dockerfile and with some simple config, Harness can build an image and push to your respository with no requirement to host your own Docker build container environment. This has saved a lot of time and resources which we can better use in other areas.
