DX's ability to be a thought leader and tactical influencer in the DevEx space is great

  • February 18, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
DX is an opinionated thought leader in the DevEx space. I love how there are multiple channels (podcasts, webinars, social posts, public DX website docs, whitepapers, ELC annual presence, Lenny's podcast) to consume DevEx learnings without focusing too much on the actual product. Core 4 and DXI are also a nice way to tie together messages from Abi and Laura - their ability to evolve messaging and the product with a growth mindset is helpful. The Trumpet site and help from the sales team to provide talking points was far above the competition and helped ease a lot of the internal sales pitch I was making with respect to the advantages of DevEx and DX. I experienced low egos, high empathy and the willingness to continue a high-level of support after the contract was signed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of MS/AzureDevOps support. For full disclosure, I've spent 99% of my career working with Java and AWS, but now that I'm working in an all MS/ADO ecosystem, it would be nice to see closer feature parity.

I'd also suggest that DX invest more into ROI executive views, similar to the one provided for the AI/CoPilot dollars saved feature. This would help internal selling to execs even more than what's already available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improve Developer Experience and Productivity. Increase transparency into the health of the Eng org.

Solid developer experience insights

  • February 14, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- The snapshot surveys are quick to complete and insightful. Before adopting DX, at best our developer survey engagement was at around 65% completion. After adopting DX, we had a 100% completion rate for the first time.

- The automated Slack DMs sent from our Director of Engineering to nudge developers to respond to the survey helped drive significant engagement.

- The snapshot survey results have been a great way to identify and quantify problem areas in our engineering organization. This gives us a tangible number to work with in order to measure improvements we're making, while also giving each team the capacity to start addressing issues within their own team (like "Deep Work").

- The DX Frontline integration with Slack is a handy way to see at a glance which of our PRs have gone stale or need review. It also gives me, as an Engineering Manager, a quick view of what my team has been working on for the past week.

- Our customer success partners on the DX team were extremely easy to work with, and getting the everything set up seemed to be a painless process for our IT department.

- As the manager for the Developer Experience team at my company, I make use of the DX platform multiple times a week to identify new initiatives for my team to focus on, along with long term goals to work towards.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have much to complain about with the tool, but there are a couple of things that could be better.

- When triaging our team snapshot results, it would be helpful to have a notes field to provide context for our action items.

-The data studio is a very cool feature, but it doesn't always quite work the way we'd expect (given that it uses AI to generate queries based on plain English input) and the associated graphs don't always look the way we want them to. Understanding SQL is still beneficial when working with custom queries.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX has helped solve two main problems for us:
- We used to use Code Climate's "Velocity" tools, but the way they calculated their metrics always left information out which didn't give us an accurate picture.
- The other problem was the lack of engagement in our developer surveys. We used to use Google Forms to run a survey, but they took too much time for the developers to fill out and required a lot of time to triage the results and extract meaningful information. DX helped address both of these issues for us.

Voice of the Engineers & Developer Experience Metrics

  • August 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
GetDX excels in offering high-quality survey questions, comprehensive industry benchmarking, detailed team breakdowns, and intuitive heat maps. The ability to compare data with previous snapshots provides invaluable insights into productivity drivers and workflow efficiency. This wealth of data is instrumental in shaping our productivity roadmap, helping us identify successes and uncover new opportunities.

The tool’s automation features, paired with seamless Slack integration, ensure high participation rates, making it easier than ever to gather actionable insights!
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, we haven't encountered any significant downsides. Initially, we noticed a few missing configuration options, but the product is evolving rapidly, with new capabilities being added regularly to meet our needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GetDX enables us to conduct regular quarterly surveys that capture qualitative data on productivity and effectiveness. It provides a straightforward way to assess our progress on the path to excellence, guiding improvements in critical areas. The tool is a valuable asset for engineering strategy, offering key data points that support the implementation of customer-centric KPIs for Developer Experience teams.

Powerful suite of tools for an Engineering org to measure & improve

  • August 14, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Straightforward, thoughtful, and rigorous UI that makes it easy to find insights. We've had amazing response rates to the quarterly surveys, because engineers want to be heard, and DX's questions show a clear understanding of an engineer's responsibilities and concerns. Customer support has been fantastic - very available on Slack and responsive to feature requests. We use DX's suite of tools daily; we're able to see at a glance what is happening with our teams, we can look at DORA, and we can compare all of these things to sentiment to really connect the dots between what's being observed and the quantitative data that makes the case.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of important day-to-day functionality (Frontline) that managers would want is still missing. DX is adding features quickly, but that part of the tool is still light.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives us a way to measure and improve things for all engineers at my company, something that has previously been next to impossible due to lack of reliable data.

What do you like best about the product?
If your engineering department is no anymore a tenth of people and you start facing delivery, engineering quality, and infrastructure issues and there is no clear view of what needs to be done, then getdx will help you in the same time to oversee the "temperature" across the board and dive deep into the most problematic matters. You have the ability to operate with engineers' feedbacks easily (qualitative metric) and different metrics like PRs stats, CI/CD stats, JIRA stats etc at the same time. It requires minimum hassle to configure and launch (compared to in-house development) and gives you the ability to find root causes and possible fixes faster.
I really like that getdx can be used as only an engineering ops tool across the org, and any time you can see the overall picture and can dig into specific team situations.
Another benefit for young orgs with not experienced managers is that middle+ managers can easily access the real situation on "the ground" for specific teams and guide not experienced managers over the issues early. Another tool getdx atlas also is great tool for beginner managers to fix typical issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Mostly, the beneficiary stakeholders of the tool are middle+ management. Experienced Team leads and line EMs won't take much value for their day2day work if proper process is established (planning-retro, tech debt management process etc)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Overall view for engineering ops across engineering dept

DX has automated measuring our Developer Productivity initiative

  • August 01, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Now that we've fully rolled out DX, our Developer Productivity initiative can gauge progress and find areas of pain to focus our improvement efforts. Compared to our legacy Engineering Sentiment survey, DX gives us a higher participation rate, an expertly crafted survey, and immediate turn around of the survey results. This allows us to feel confident in the survey data and take action immediately. Additionally, the professional services included in the DX subscription are second to none, it feels like DX is part of our team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only pain point we have, which is mostly not a problem w/ DX, is making sense of our org chart and then getting it in shape to import to DX.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Developer Productivity is a top initiative this fiscal year

DX has proven extremely insightful!

What do you like best about the product?
I oversee a team of about 40 Software Engineers, and having a consistent method to survey their developer experience is crucial. Identifying areas in the development lifecycle that cause frustration or bottlenecks is essential for creating an environment where our engineers can thrive and enjoy their work. Monitoring trends in improvements or regressions is key to understanding the impact of changes we make as a team.

This straightforward app comes loaded with features that have been beneficial from day one. It's easy to integrate into our daily operations, thanks to seamless Slack workflows, which simplify adoption. Additionally, their top-notch support has been invaluable whenever I have questions or need advice.
What do you dislike about the product?
No downsides! It's a great tool that has generated so much insight into the developer experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This tool helps me and our teams identify opportunities for improvement, make changes, and assess impact of those changes all with a focus on the developer experience.

The best product I've purchased in my career

  • July 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My company has been using DX for a few years as of Jul '24. We loved the product right off the bat and the surveys of our engineers were so useful that within 6 months we began presenting the results to the board of directors.

We've watched the product offering grow immensely over the years and every feature they've put forth has made the tool more useful, more easy to understand, and more valuable to us. We've expanded beyond the survey tool to tracking use and satisfaction of our internal tooling, tracking all of our DORA metrics and now we're seeing the big picture starting to come together about how developer productivity and satisfaction is impacted by how efficient our processes are.

No matter what size your company is, I highly recommend at least taking a look at DX. If you want your engineering organization to be effective and efficient DX will help your engineers report the issues, prioritize what to fix, and you can see the fruits of your labor over time.

It replaced Jellyfish for us and did a much better job of pointing us at problems instead of asking us to look at a dense dashboard of metrics and to divine the answers ourselves.

Highly recommend, love the team as well!
What do you dislike about the product?
DX is still the new kid on the block so they don't have the deepest product offering you can find.

What it does it does better than its competitors though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX for us works toward understanding developer productivity and what gets in the way of that.

Our goal as a company is to keep developer satisfaction high so they can be productive. DX helps us identify problems so we can fix them and show us through all kinds of metrics that our engineers are remaining effective.

Next level Engineering insights and metrics

  • July 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It brings the question of "how do we work more effectively + move faster" to the engineers. The survey questions are extremely relevant to the engineers who take the survey. The survey is easy to take (slack notifications). And the results are shared with all participants so the team can see each other's comments and it give a strong signal of transparency throughout the team and between the team and leadership.
What do you dislike about the product?
I was not able to consolidate my dora metrics tool into using DX alone due to pricing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It brings qualitative insights about the experience of being a software engineer at our company. This gives us ways we can improve and helps start conversations throughout the team on addressing any issues that were surfaced in the survey.

DX makes it so easy to extract and understand developers insights and what to do with them

  • July 17, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The transperancy of the tool and how everyone can log in and see the results.
How there is a prioritised list of drivers and what your team would like to see improvements in.
A breakdown of teams, department and compay results so you can easily identify issues that are wide-spread amongst multiple teams in the organisation.
An atlas tool that gives you ideas for quick wins, near term and long term stargeties to drive improvements in your teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is very powerful so time needs to be spend to fully undersrand how to use it effectively for your teams and organisations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping us to surface and document issues developers are having with systems and processes and presenting these issues to team leaders and senior leadership so they can be addressed and tackled.
