Excellent

What do you like best about the product?
We've found DX to be incredibly useful. They take a serious, evidence-backed approach to metrics. Their team is also super responsive to feedback.

One big differentiator is that it's easy to customize things and see where the numbers come from — for any of their built-in metrics, you can click "see SQL" and go to the query they're using to generate it. The competitors we evaluated were opaque and didn't have a way to figure out *exactly* where the numbers were coming from, which for me was a non-starter for such critical metrics.

They also have a lot of built-in dashboards and pre-populated metrics, most or all of which are well-designed.

Incredibly easy to implement: just hook it up to Github, JIRA etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
They did a big UI refactor recently and it's been a little painful to adjust to. My sense is that they're taking our feedback seriously though and making change to bring back some of the key things that we miss from the old UI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Out of the box solution for metrics for engineering management: DORA metrics, developer satisfaction surveys, etc

DX provides a myriad of metrics to inform how my team is performing, and they provide guided insights that help me learn new ways to consider where I can help my team be their best.
What do you dislike about the product?
With all of the vast information available, it's sometimes hard to fully understand what I have available to me and how to find it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding pain points for my engineers and finding operational improvements to better support my team

Increased developer productivity conversations, awareness, and prioritizations

  • June 04, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Since rolling out DX and moving from an internal solution, we have seen a much more active community around the developer productivity conversation, from product engineers sharing insights, platform engineers engaging and learning directly, and management more deeply understanding the pain points and friction.

Their communication techniques have also raised our participation rate significantly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Giving further insights to align and understand our responses against peer companies, by breakdown of size, category, or other vectors would be valuable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performing bi-annual developer feedback surveys, as well as experienced sampling surveys for specific tools or changes.

What do you like best about the product?
As an engineering manager, you are busy and it could be hard to stay on top of all of your team's threads. DX allows you to quickly understand what work is going on, including the work that’s progressing well and the work that may be bogged down. With these insights, you can have useful conversations with your team to help get work that’s off track back on track and also seek ways to replicate what’s going well across the entire team.
What do you dislike about the product?
On one hand, the DX team is super receptive to feedback – this is awesome as the product is evolving quite rapidly. On the other hand, while many of the enhancements they make are positive, there have been so many things added and sometimes it could be hard to tell what new tools they bring are worth exploring or not.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX allows you to see how work is progressing, where your team is excelling and where it needs support. It allows you to ask questions around ways to improve velocity and develop more iteratively. The developer surveys we run using DX have been invaluable, allowing us to make process changes that have not only improved our product, but also our team health.

DX provides DX productivity data, insights and team tooling that is incomparably valuable

What do you like best about the product?
The premise that you can periodically ask your developers: "Do you feel productive?" and from there get all the info you need to make your team happier and more productive is profound. DX's surveys follow industry best practices for survey methodologies and analytics. DX has been an invaluable partner as we've grown our Eng org.
What do you dislike about the product?
Make more insights from connected services - aka more capabilities for insights around other work that Engineers engage in as part of their jobs (Slack, collab, incidents, etc.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How can I make my developers happier and more productive

    Computer & Network Security

A valuable tool for tracking team health and driving continuous improvement

What do you like best about the product?
DX gives you visibility into engineering team dynamics that traditional retrospectives often miss. It helps you understand not just what happened, but why things are trending a certain way. This early signal is especially useful in spotting misalignments or emerging friction before they turn into real problems. The survey insights are actionable, and because they’re collected regularly, you can measure whether changes are actually working. DX Frontline is another strong asset as it nudges around stale, oversized, or unusual PRs, keeps the team focused, and ensures issues don’t fall through the cracks. It’s not just a dashboard, but a cultural nudge towards healthier engineering practices. Once the engineers understood it’s not a performance tracker but a team-enabler, adoption was smooth and organic.
The customer support has also been outstanding, consistently responsive, approachable, and genuinely keen to help. They’ve been happy to join calls with both management and engineers, answering questions, guiding usage, and even joining one of our sessions at 4 am their local time. It really feels like they’re invested in our success.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial onboarding experience could be a bit more guided, it takes some effort to set up the integrations and fine-tune the surveys to suit your team. There’s also a learning curve for engineers unfamiliar with the tool, and a bit of initial scepticism to overcome. Some of the metrics can feel abstract at first, so it’s worth taking the time to explain what they mean and how they’re useful. That said, once everything is in place and the team starts seeing progress over time, the value becomes clear and it fits naturally into regular team rhythms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX helps us solve two key problems: a lack of visibility into how teams are really doing over time, and the difficulty of addressing small issues before they grow. By tracking metrics and survey data regularly, we can proactively spot misalignments, friction points, or dips in motivation. This gives us the chance to act early, with clear data to support conversations and decisions. On the engineering side, DX Frontline helps with pull request hygiene by flagging anomalies and encouraging more consistent workflows. Overall, it’s improved our ability to steer team culture, maintain momentum, and make better management decisions based on actual signals rather than assumptions.

Takes on the heavy lifting for smaller developer experience teams

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Their core product, which is the survey, is well thought out. We rolled this out to our 100+ engineers with minimal friction and, more than a year on, consistently float above 95% participation rates. They provide great post-snapshot support, helping draft out comms and slide decks for stakeholders.
What do you dislike about the product?
They churn out features rapidly, but it's sometimes difficult to catch up without a public roadmap. Some features, such as Frontline alerts, are available in Slack, but not Teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to centralise technical retrospectives across teams and make it easily visible to everyone. DX has helped with out developer engagement scores, plus their Data Cloud visuals are comprehensive enough to dive deeper into the metrics.

An excellent product

What do you like best about the product?
We use DX quarterly to figure out what's causing friction in our software teams. The UI is slick and easy to use from both an admin POV and as an engineer being surveyed. One feature I really like is the daily auto nudge reminding engineers to complete the survey - this has meant we've had a very high %90+ participation rate in all of the surveys we've done. It's also great to see them incorporate useful AI features such as summaries of engineer comments.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing I dislike about DX, it's fantastic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us work out what's causing friction in our development processes.

DX provides combined visibility of systems and survey data to drive impactful improvement

  • May 28, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
DX provides a lot of out of the box functionality, making data and metrics quickly available to software teams with relatively low onboarding overhead. The DevEx Snapshot surveys were especially easy to implement and get teams started with quarterly data; the Slack integration is extremely effective, and we are getting 95%+ participation in our surveys. The DX combination of Data Cloud systems data with DevEx Snapshot survey data is really powerful to create a more balanced and comprehensive view of the software development lifecycle. The DX customer support team is very engaged, contributes to survey data analysis and generation of reports, has considered and implemented a lot of our requests, and also offers custom development work if needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Any software metrics platform introduces risk in misuse or gaming of metrics, but DX does provide options and guidelines to avoid some of the common pitfalls. We have chosen to disable most of the individual contributor metrics features, and focus on team level metrics, to guard against misuse and encourage more trust in software metrics in general. Initially the built-in custom dashboarding features were limited, but they have made a lot of progress in the last year to improve the usability of that part of the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX gives visibility into waste and friction and where each team would most benefit from investing in improvements in our software development lifecycle. This allows each team to focus their actions on specific high impact improvements for them, and our software organization to identify global enablement actions in areas the most teams require support.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the compression options if it is other companies or other team at your work place.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that me as a manager don't have the option to ask specific question that related to my team and the option it will be private just for me, also some of the questions are not relevant for my team so I would like to see other questions depends on the team (Frontend, Backend for example)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It help me figure which items we need to improve each time and focus how to solve them in the next period.
