Metrics and benchmarks I can actually use

  • May 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
DX is where I start my day. I can get a snapshot of what's in progress and see metrics across different teams. I no longer have to jump between tools. The surveys are specifically tailored for engineering teams with benchmarks against other companies. To be able to tie qualitative and quantitive metrics together in one UI is extremely useful. I also just want to call out how responsive the team and support are. It's been rare that we've had any issues, but the support team is top notch when we have. We also were part of one of their pilot programs and a suggestion I had in the morning was live in production before the end of the day.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have anything specific that I dislike. I would love to see them move a bit into the forecasting space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use DX to keep a pulse on the health of the engineering team with the quarterly surveys, but also answers our needs for metrics around cycle time, delivery, and throughput.

Clear focus on DevEx improvements

  • May 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Having sentiment based metrics is a game changer. Because when only looking at the metrics coming from GitHub or other providers it doesn't really tell the whole story, unless combined with the self-reported metrics.

Developers adoption is very successful and straightforward which is key to our success.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having to write queries in SQL is a bit of a learning curve for me personally. But luckily there's an AI agent capable of building all my queries needs that works very well
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Give us a clear focus on where the priority and improvements needs to be.

And when the time comes to convince people around you, what the work and focus should be, having the data in DX to back you up ease the conversation.

Making Developer Experience measurable - and meaningful—with DX

  • May 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As an engineering team, we've found the DX platform to be a powerful enabler for both insight and improvement. It brings together quantitative data—like deployments, throughput, pipeline builds, and the quality of our deliverables—with qualitative input gathered directly from our engineers through regular surveys. This combination has proven invaluable. The survey feedback adds critical context to the raw numbers, helping us avoid misinterpretations and making our metrics more meaningful.

What really stands out for us is how interconnected the platform is. The drivers used in the surveys are directly linked to key indicators in the reports, which opens up entirely new ways of looking at areas like delivery efficiency, code quality, time spent, review processes, and even communication dynamics. It gives us a more complete picture of how we work—and how we can work better.

We also appreciate the scientific foundation behind DX. It doesn’t just show us what’s happening; it offers data-backed ideas and suggestions for improvement. Whether it's tackling workflow bottlenecks or addressing pain points in our processes, the platform gives us concrete direction.

Another highlight is the DX Data Studio. It allows us to build custom dashboards tailored to our needs by querying the rich dataset DX has already organized. With the help of the built-in AI assistant, we’re able to construct these queries and visualizations in minutes—no deep data expertise required.

And perhaps most importantly, DX helps us translate our improvements into real business value. Using benchmarks, internal data, and published research, it shows us the actual cost savings tied to initiatives we launch based on survey results. That’s a huge win when it comes to aligning engineering work with strategic goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
While DX has brought a lot of value to our engineering work, there are a few areas where we’ve noticed limitations. Our onboarding experience was very positive thanks to the direct support from the DX team, who helped us overcome early challenges and get the most out of the platform quickly. That level of support made a big difference, though we understand this may vary depending on the engagement model in other organizations.

We’ve also found that interpreting the data still requires a solid understanding of our internal context. The numbers DX provides are insightful, but they often need to be complemented by our own knowledge to lead to meaningful improvements.

One of the strengths of DX is its ability to collect qualitative input through surveys. In our department, participation has been consistently high, which has been key to maintaining quality insights. That said, we recognize that other teams might struggle with survey fatigue if the value of participation isn’t clearly demonstrated over time.

Finally, while DX provides helpful estimates around cost savings from improvements, we see these more as directional indicators than precise financial outcomes. They’re useful for sparking discussions, especially with stakeholders, but we approach them with a healthy level of skepticism.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX helps us solve several key business challenges. It gives us clear, data-driven visibility into how our engineering teams are working—something that was previously difficult to measure or relied too much on anecdotal input. By combining quantitative metrics with qualitative survey feedback, DX helps us understand not just what’s happening, but why, which leads to more informed and targeted improvements.

It also allows us to track the impact of changes over time, showing whether new processes or initiatives are actually improving performance. Importantly, it connects these improvements to estimated cost savings, helping us tie engineering work directly to business value.

Beyond that, DX helps us uncover inefficiencies in our workflows, like bottlenecks or wasted time, and gives us the insights we need to fix them. It also makes developer experience a measurable and strategic priority, which strengthens team engagement and productivity.

Really east to use and a really good new interface. The amount of data available gives you the capability to objectively analyse all the processes and get really precious insights
What do you dislike about the product?
The huge amount of data sometimes gives you too much headache because you have a lot of ways to read those data.
The key indicators are a really good indicator.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improve the tech team way of working, focusing on developer experience too.

Very happy customer 6 months in

What do you like best about the product?
DX has given our company a very good way to understand developer productivity on a team level in a way that just wasn't possible before. I've tried to do something similar to what DX does at another companies with surveys that were super difficult to get high completion rates on, DORA metrics that were difficult to bring into a single place, and lack of clarity on where we should go next. Bringing DX on along with their expertise gives me both the tools I need to quantitatively and qualitatively understand what's going on as well as where specifically I can make improvements. Looking forward to a long and growing partnership with them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to see them continue to build out their tools that help me understand the gen AI impact to devs. While they do have some ways to understand this, which is probably the best I'd find anywhere, I still find them lacking a little as Google, Microsoft, etc innovates at an unbelievably rapid pace. It's hard to know where to turn at times it seems, what we should experiment with next, and so forth. I still remain satisfied however and am confident they'll be able to deliver what's needed here based on my experience with watching them grow in even the past 6 months.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They're helping me understand the productivity of hundreds of engineers.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Extremely easy to setup and get started. And, the responsiveness from their Customer Success team is one of the best I have come across.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the metrics change retroactively. So, it is not easy to keep track of progress.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A single unified platform where developer sentiment can be measured along with the quantitative metrics from the software development tools. The quarterly review process, along with the ease of measuring progress/changes over time is extremely useful for all our engineering leaders.

What do you like best about the product?
DX has been transformative in helping us get real insights and data regarding our engineering teams and SDLC practices. We always get 95%+ response rates with the DX surveys because our teams know we take their feedback seriously and we see leaders set focus areas for improvement with their teams. We also get incredible data into the DX platform from integrations with Jira and Github to help us uncover where we're spending our time as a collective engineering organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
DX has an opportunity to lean into engineering scorecards that spans sentiment, productivity, security, and more to give leaders a single pane of glass with things that truly matter.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DX provides deep insight into the sentiment of our engineering organization across many different areas. On top of the sentiment, it also pairs in data from Jira and Github to provide real-world statistics.
