Enables us to optimize our workload and manage our day-to-day operations

What is our primary use case?

We use the Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) tool to do the data analysis of all of the VMs that we have provisioned, and just report and support our decisions.

We primarily use it to measure the efficiency of our organization. We have a large application, so we have to keep an eye on that. We closely monitor storage, memory, CPU, and all these different resources and their operating efficiencies.

We haven't used the cost governance feature yet, and it's something we're looking to implement in the future, but it's not a use case for us right now.

How has it helped my organization?

It allows us to optimize our workload and manage our day-to-day operations.

The runbooks feature has had a significant impact on automating our IT process as we are getting ready to add new hardware to our clusters, and it will allow us to see how much we need to add and where we need to add it in terms of our growing infrastructure.

Self-service has improved our ability to manage, deploy, or scale our applications as we allow our software development infrastructure team to use self-service to deploy their own VMs or manage their own VMs. They don't always have to reach out to us. While we control the base hardware, they still get to manage the VMs.

It has helped my team have visibility into security posture across our infrastructure as we work with our Cyber Ops team to provide them information out of it so that they can come back and provide us with recommendations.

What is most valuable?

What I like the most about it is how intuitive it is to use. It's easy for users to use and provides the data we want.

The core feature I mainly use in Intelligent Operations is the cluster runway and the analytics features. I have not faced any challenges with ease of use with the product itself.

What needs improvement?

The biggest issue we've run into is not being able to quickly share information. More sharing features outside of just the standard reporting, where I can export something to a PDF, would be more helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability and reliability of the platform have been great, as we use it all the time and really show the use cases.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Right now, Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) matches where we're at as an organization, and I don't necessarily know for the future as I don't see us having a huge amount of growth from where we are now.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate their technical support a nine out of ten because I've never had an issue reaching out to support and getting any issues resolved very quickly. Even the technical account manager has helped whenever I have issues, making it easy to escalate and get somebody to take care of it.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've only ever worked with Nutanix.

What was our ROI?

The biggest return on investment when using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for me is optimizing our resources so that we are not buying hardware or additional resources that we don't need. We are able to scale things appropriately and make sure that we are using our resources to their best abilities.

We are definitely not going to add as much hardware as we originally thought, just because we were able to scale back some of the VMs and resources that we were using.

I have spent quite a bit of time with the tool myself, getting measures for efficiency, and it's probably helped us to be 10%-15% more efficient on average in information gathering.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We are getting ready to do a renewal, and that's been one of the topics that has arisen around the licensing and the cost of it. At the end of the day, the product justifies the cost, and it leads to a conversation with management over whether we actually need this feature and if there are any use cases for why we would want to keep it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not consider other solutions before choosing Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM). We went straight to Nutanix, that's what we wanted.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) a nine out of ten, as I don't have a lot of comparison. I don't rate anything a ten, but what could make it a ten is me learning how to better use the tool and ensuring that I'm using it the way that I need to. It falls back on me not understanding the full breadth and scale of the tool. As we're not using cost governance and the cost visibility yet, it's hard for me to say whether or not those are helpful.

Enhancement of compliance and management across hybrid environments with ease of integration

What is our primary use case?

We are currently using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for our on-prem infrastructure.

Our main use cases for Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) come from being a company that is split half and half between federal and commercial work. We needed something that could be highly compliant while also giving us flexibility across the different clouds that we provide. The primary use case is the compliance piece, making sure that we're managing, securing, and locking down the system the way that we need to keep our customers happy.

What is most valuable?

We did a test implementation of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), pulling it in and using it to start monitoring our systems. It was quite easy to pull it in and start using it, which we appreciated. Some of the other systems we looked at weren't quite as intuitive with their setup.

The impact on our company is what we hope to get from it if we move forward - higher efficiencies from an easier single pane of glass management perspective on securing compliance of our multi-cloud environment. I appreciate that we can view both the commercial and the gov cloud or FedRAMP, government environments from the same perspective. This makes it easier for our teams as they're not learning two different dashboards or ways to look at things, which we had to do in the past.

The impact of the Runbooks feature on automating our IT processes with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) hasn't been significant yet. I am looking forward to the Runbooks feature having an impact since I'm a fan of automation wherever possible. Going across environments and being able to automate and execute the same behavior reliably across both AWS and Azure and across different commercial and gov cloud environments would be very useful.

What needs improvement?

Regarding how Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) can be improved, we haven't seen any gaping holes yet. The improvement we're always looking for is agentive behavior, specifically regarding automation and the AI side of things. We might not have seen it yet since we're not that far in our system, however, getting that agentive behavior so we can reliably have the system do things based on parameters and guidelines without our engineers having to do more than verify what was done would be super valuable. Our team is pretty small, so any efficiency we can give them with that kind of capability is better.

What could make Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) a ten would be tighter integration of the agentic behavior. That's the main thing I'd love to see pulled in more, though this might just be because we haven't tried the AI features yet.

For how long have I used the solution?

We're currently in the evaluation phase.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability and reliability of the Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) platform have been excellent, as we have had zero outages. It has been very reliable and very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Regarding the scalability of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) with the growing needs of our company, I don't expect that we'll have any problems with scale given the size of our environment, however, it's too early to know for sure.

How are customer service and support?

The matter of customer service and technical support is better addressed by my team. I haven't reached out to them yet.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are currently in the evaluation phase of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM). We've been using vSphere and CloudHealth, however, want to move away from them due to their licensing changes. We were looking at other options that were multi-cloud, hybrid cloud, and on-prem solutions. CloudHealth and another product covered one small piece of work, which we're phasing out now before choosing Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM).

How was the initial setup?

We always give it a few weeks to start to do its thing. We've been able to start getting some information and have been playing around with it. It's been very easy to get started and get moving on the pilot.

What was our ROI?

The biggest return on investment will be getting away from VMware products. Additionally, the ease of use, single pane perspective across the on-prem, commercial and government environments is really important and super valuable. The consistent behavior across different environments is also valuable. Anything that reduces bandwidth and reduces the brain work that our teams have to do to maintain systems across all environments is time-saving and cost-saving.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did consider other solutions before choosing Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) and am still considering alternatives, though I'd rather not discuss specifics.

What other advice do I have?

The specific functionalities we have utilized mainly focus on security and compliance monitoring, getting our arms wrapped around everything we have across Azure and AWS. We're also looking at pulling into the next stage of the pilot, the cost management side, because we definitely have some inefficiencies there.

Our engineers who have been involved in our pilot and assessment have been pretty happy so far. Engineers are fundamentally efficiency-oriented - we prefer to have the easy button as much as possible. We prefer the complexity hidden for us, and there's definitely the perception that this product does that.

We have used the NCM Security Central, which has helped my team have visibility into our security posture across our infrastructure. Regarding cost governance features, it's too early to tell about their impact on cloud expenditure visibility.

We have seen enough measurable outcomes to make us want to continue down the process we've started. The factors that make the team lean towards this solution include the ability to be compliant and to manage and monitor compliance across different environments.

It is a hybrid environment, and we're using the Azure service offering.

I would rate Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) a solid eight out of ten. The solution has been very easy to start up and very easy to get moving on the pilot. The low latency, low bandwidth has been good so far, and it has been a good experience overall.

Self-service functionality and automation have significantly reduced our deployment time

What is our primary use case?

My main use cases for Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) are for managing resources in the cloud.

I'm currently using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) to manage my infrastructure. I'm using the self-service functionality from Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM).

How has it helped my organization?

We are using the runbooks feature to help automate management with very simple runbooks. The impact of this feature is that it automates deployment, so we don't have to do any manual processes to provision machines or configurations. This frees up our engineers to focus on other projects without having to manage and operate requests hands-on.

We use cost governance. This feature helps us manage costs and avoid cost overruns. It also gives us the ability to do a showback to the business, showing how much it's costing.

It allows us to forecast budgets for projects much more easily than what we had before, which was nothing.

What is most valuable?

It's easy to use. Self-service is beneficial because it's easier for developers to assign themselves resources. It's easy to control resources and govern the resources, and it frees up support to focus on other things without having to help developers. It allows developers to self-service on their own.

It saves time. I don't have any metrics, but typically, before, a developer requesting resources would have a three to five-day turnaround time, sometimes even longer. Now they have the ability to self-deploy on their own, which makes it immediate instead of waiting three to five business days.

What needs improvement?

Our requirements are very simple. There is nothing not working for us. It's not complex, but the benefits are that it's really easy to use. We are probably the customer who has the least number of problems. However, costs are always a concern.

I've been using Nutanix for a long time, and other complaints I had in the past were that their ecosystem with other OEM partners was more limited. It's good that they've grown and expanded to other vendors and OEMs. We were an HPE shop, so it was good when they brought in HPE as an OEM. It was very important for us, and it's good to see that they're extending that. Our Nutanix is on HPE.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I don't believe we've had any significant issues with the stability and reliability of the Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) platform. Any issues were minor, just something that goes with learning the product and how it works. Nothing major has caused downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) scales well. We haven't had any growing pains with it.

The process of expanding its usage is smooth in getting the different teams on board with how it works, so it's primarily about training.

How are customer service and support?

I find Nutanix support to be great, excellent. I have nothing bad to say about it. Nobody is perfect, but I'd rate it a nine.

The handoff with support and the knowledge of the support engineer is significantly better than experience with other vendors. I've always had a good experience. I'm sure we've had a minor issue here and there with getting issues to the right person, but nothing specific comes to mind.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were already a Nutanix shop, so we weren't really looking at other solutions. It was something that we were aware of and had a use case for. Outside of that, we were looking at Terraform or some other scripting processes, but it made more sense to leverage Nutanix's integrated solutions.

How was the initial setup?

The challenges that we had were mostly on our side, getting the runbooks set up properly. There was nothing really with the technology that was a challenge. We have a hybrid deployment model. Most of our workloads are on-prem. We mostly focus on on-prem workloads, but we do have use cases in Azure.

What was our ROI?

Playbooks and automation definitely freed up engineer time. This allows us to focus on other projects and not have to get hands-on, reducing operational costs.

It goes in cycles, but depending on the project, Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) has freed up 40-50 hours per project in terms of deployment. That's a week's worth of work that could be done for something else.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing is always a hot topic. We haven't had any challenges around licensing and costs. Everything was within budget and our expectations. It's a hot topic because renewals and licensing costs are high. Managing costs is always a concern, as we're always being asked to do more with less.

The product is great, and I have no regrets using Nutanix. I would do it all over again. I'm not looking at any other platforms, but costs are always a concern. It's not cheap, but there are savings and return on investment when coming from a non-Nutanix shop. If you're coming in as a new customer, greenfield, it's great. If you're migrating away from something three-tier architecture where you already have storage platforms, it's harder to justify the costs because you already invested in something else.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) an eight out of ten, as everything can always be improved, but nothing really comes to mind.

I would recommend it to other companies considering Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) to make sure they do proper planning upfront and understand their use cases. A lot of times, our challenges are that our internal customers, who are going to be consuming, don't know their requirements, which slows down and potentially produces a poor experience. Ensure that you understand the requirements and do proper planning with the customer.

Centralized console improves efficiency and infrastructure management

What is our primary use case?

My main use cases right now involve migrating two of the most critical server VM servers that we have; one is our secure server, which has a lot of data in it, and the other one is an application server that hosts the critical application for my business.

I am currently using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) to manage our infrastructure.

I'm using the local storage in Nutanix, and I'm using the move and the prism sensor to administer the closet.

Regarding specific functionalities, we already have micro-segmentation in Security Central to analyze the traffic that's crossing between those servers to be able to firewall application policy between those applications that are working on those servers.

What is most valuable?

I really appreciate the console, the centralized administration, and the ability to quickly attach storage between operations.

Management of our infrastructure has improved because it's simpler to administrate, and it's easier to understand what is happening with each server in our environment, allowing us to analyze the data and consumption of each component operating within it.

The cost governance feature allows our CTOs and CEOs to have an overall structure of knowledge about what is functioning and what we are doing in our infrastructure.

What needs improvement?

We are not using a lot of self-service because we are new in that area, but we understand that we could integrate that feature into our local development to allow us to test and operate our local infrastructure.

Until now, I have not encountered many challenges; during implementation, we had to focus on the data we have, ensuring we validated it to be clear on what we could migrate before and after the migration.

I don't see a need for improvements in Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) at the moment; however, I would appreciate better performance.

I would like to see integrated analytics in the dashboard that accurately displays graphics, such as CPU usage, the overall health of the infrastructure, and specific virtual machines that we refer to frequently.

I don't think the solution's cost visibility feature will affect us immediately, but over time I believe it will provide better benefits, help us reduce losses, and allow us to move forward with old projects and servers we are currently using.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for only a month, as I am a new customer in Nutanix, and I already implemented it at the beginning of last month.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I think Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is the most reliable solution in our environment right now, and we are confident that despite any potential losses, we will not experience any downtime in other parts of our environment or services.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is very good for scalability; we are currently considering introducing Nutanix to other sites, perhaps in our co-location and possibly towards the end of the year for new acquisitions to enhance scalability.

I have received very straightforward and pleasant technical support from our partner so far; I haven't had to escalate any cases, and I am confident that with their and the provider's support, we will get a good response if we encounter any incidents.

The biggest return on investment for me when using this product is the fast deployment and the rapid integration and migration without impacting our operations during the migration.

I believe we will see measurable outcomes from using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), including reduced costs and more efficient IT management in the future.

My experience with the pricing, setup costs, and licensing was good because our partner supported us by explaining the benefits and features of each option and what we could expect from the implementation. I understand that the Nutanix solution is cost-effective.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We considered two other products before adopting Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM).

One was from HP, a simpler option, and we also looked at some from Dell.

The main differences between the two options were cost, the full package offered, and the level of support we would receive from the implementation partner.

What other advice do I have?

It has made things much more efficient. I would say efficiency has increased approximately by 80%.

To maintain that rating of 10, it's important for us to receive good responses during any situations and ensure collaboration with the partner and provider while keeping the pricing consistent.

We are analyzing the impact of the Runbooks feature on automating our IT processes, considering that we think we will be working on making some dashboards or using some of them to advance the rest of our Nutanix project.

Managing clusters effectively and forecasting resource needs with confidence

What is our primary use case?

We use it primarily for general workload for the virtual machines, reporting, and getting the capacity reports.

What is most valuable?

In terms of features, we have general availability with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), allowing me to manage my Nutanix cluster the same as I could on-premises, and the fact that I can quickly and easily stand up servers is very beneficial.

In Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), the planning feature in reporting is very useful, as you can create a particular scenario that provides potential resource consumption of your current cluster and can help interpret workloads, which is great for forecasting how long depend on the current capacity and whether you need to purchase new hardware.

We can give developers access to a self-service portal. It's very helpful. You can grant access and give people the power to manage issues themselves.

We've found we've generally saved time by using Nutanix.

Nutanix gives us access to a single pane of glass by which we're able to see everything.

What needs improvement?

It is important to mention that while Nutanix claims improvements in licensing over the past couple of years, I find it a bit annoying, as it still does not work as intended. If there are licensing errors, for example, being told I have 96 cores licensed but Nutanix Flow not licensed despite having assigned units, it complicates things unnecessarily.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for about three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I assess the stability and reliability of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) with a few issues where downtime occurred; once it was related to power when the whole console went down.

We had two instances where a network outage caused cluster reboots, which I would prefer to see handled differently as the VMs rebooted to ensure data consistency.

This behavior differs from VMware where VMs would not necessarily restart, and I am unsure if there is an option to configure the network to prevent this.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scaling with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is not as straightforward as they claim, largely due to the assumption that you have IPv6 enabled on your switches, which we did not. We encountered challenges while adding extra servers to existing clusters; however, we sorted it out with the expertise of the support staff, even though it was beyond my knowledge and experience.

How are customer service and support?

I would say my experience with customer service is a nine out of ten, as I never give a ten. I do not know what a ten is. There is always room for improvement, and they are definitely high quality. There is a feature that allows you to escalate the call. Since 2019, I've only had to escalate twice.

We had used VMware. If I had to deploy the same and used VMware or Nutanix, I would choose Nutanix at the same cost due to the number of features.

How was the initial setup?

For the first deployment of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), we had a third-party help us with setup, while for the next clusters, I handled it myself. The latest deployment involved a partner due to time constraints. It requires some knowledge and experience, however, once I watched the first setup, I was able to do it myself after that.

Migration is also possible to do by yourself. Between Nutanix generation six to generation nine, we were able to move VMs.

What about the implementation team?

For the first deployment of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), we had a third-party help us with setup, while for the next clusters I handled it myself.

What was our ROI?

The cost reduction has provided some ROI.

What other advice do I have?

For those evaluating Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) as a solution, I advise not to be afraid to move from VMware and to run some proof of concept, as that was my case. People tend to stick with known technologies, and I understand their reluctance, but change can be beneficial. Comparatively, having similar hardware and paying less with Nutanix while getting many features that work well is appealing.

In our case, we pay for 60 features with VMware but use only ten, while with Nutanix, we get 25 features at a better price.

I rate Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) a ten out of ten.

Comprehensive management through a single, intuitive interface reduces tool usage

What is our primary use case?

My main use cases for Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) involve managing infrastructure and looking at dashboarding performances.

I am currently using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) to manage my infrastructure.

The specific functionalities I am utilizing with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) include offsite replications, between site replication, load balancing, and regular management creations.

We haven't started with self-service, Intelligent Operations, or cost governance yet; we haven't looked at that too much.

What is most valuable?

What I find most valuable about Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is the single pane of glass.

A single pane of glass means one place to go look at everything.

The biggest benefit Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) has provided my company is a more overall encompassing area where I can go look at and review workloads and get an early jump on any indications of problems.

The biggest case and need regarding full stack visibility for operations to create a single pane for the entire virtual infrastructure, including both Nutanix and non-Nutanix environments, is monitoring, alerts, and reporting.

It makes it easier than having to find the individual servers, and I can have an executive summary for myself.

It cuts down the number of tools that we have to use or go to, allowing us to see anything else that's going on while we're managing our infrastructure, providing a single place where we could start consolidating.

What needs improvement?

I don't know yet how Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) can be improved; I'm still new enough into it and still reviewing it.

For the use case that I use Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for, it works fine and great; I don't have a specific improvement aside from general feedback.

Better AI would be a feature I would want to see in the next update.

I don't know that we're big enough to see that kind of scalability or improvement with self-service because we're such a small shop, but it is nice not having to call an engineer.

Having come from a VMware shop straight over to pure Nutanix, I find Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) to be more intuitive.

The biggest differences between VMware, Cisco, and Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is the UI; I feel the UI is more intuitive across the board with Nutanix, and that is the biggest difference.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) was seamless and perfect.

What about the implementation team?

Nutanix sent their partner to help cut us over and assist with the transition, which was flawless.

What was our ROI?

We actually saw a decrease in our budgeting and cost management coming from VMware over to Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), with a year-over-year decrease of about 10% to 15%.

For me, the biggest return on investment when using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is product stability, having everything in an all-in-one package with cloud availability there and not having to manage multiple tools.

I've seen more efficient IT management from using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), with efficiency improvements increased by about 10 to 15%.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Better pricing would help improve Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM).

Having come from a competitor, I appreciate the pricing model of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM); it's very easy to understand, so I wouldn't change anything.

What other advice do I have?

NCM Security Central has helped my team have visibility into our security posture across our infrastructure.

We're just now exploring low-code automation driving remediations, such as Xplay or Crossplay, since we've only had Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for about a year.

The cost governance feature gives me a projected path, allowing me to get ahead of potential cost escalations and understand why they may be happening. I can better manage my budgeting standpoint for the next year and stay on top of those costs.

What is our primary use case?

We use NCM in a training environment.

The solution was picked as part of the hyper-converged platform using Cisco hardware and Nutanix hypervisor software.

How has it helped my organization?

NCM was one of the vendors we compared technology-wise. It is more mature now, of course, and scalability is there. Our use case that I deployed was not around that as well. It was more around the simplicity and automation of that stand-alone system. It meets all those business use cases.

From the lab and proof of concept of NCM, it efficiently achieved low-code automation outcomes quickly.

NCM's learning curve is on par with similar cloud management solutions. This is important because we want a single platform to manage multiple domains. As the ecosystem matures, we want to be able to integrate with many vendors.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect of NCM is its ease of deployment. Nutanix provides the software and licensing to utilize Cisco's X86 hardware. It is a turnkey solution, so instead of building different infrastructure components, almost everything is out of the box.

What needs improvement?

NCM is a mature technology product, but it is more costly than some of the other solutions available, which leaves room for improvement.

The product has helped my company to have a single point of view for managing the infrastructure, our environment, and virtualization. We use the tool for something important, which is the structuring of the code.

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable features stem from its ease of management of our infrastructure and virtualization hypervisor. I think the tool is better than the others on the market.

The speed of outcomes I have received using the tool's low-code automation is fast and has helped us a lot. We are a company that has the intention to want IaC to come first. We are changing how we manage things to facilitate the day's activities.

With faster outcomes, we can reduce the daily management needed to maintain the systems.

Considering how the tool has helped our company's team address the current automation needs while planning for future expansion, I would say that we have seen how it works after Nutanix launched Nutanix v4 API. What is our primary use case?

We work in the public sector, which includes local governments, fire departments, and transportation. The most interesting use case is that we have set up a private cloud with two sites where they are replicated, and from the same console, we have synchronous replication using 1M Ethernet. The RPO is zero.

How has it helped my organization?

Our clients like its simplicity. That is a great value. We moved from a three-layer infrastructure to a private cloud infrastructure. It has resulted in a lot of simplicity which is reflected in the availability of services.

Simplicity is the biggest value that we can see. This is super important for us because the technical team is dedicated to looking at the data and how to generate value for the business instead of worrying about the technology.

Using the built-in playbooks has freed up the time for our IT team. Instead of managing storage, CPU, and memory, they can dedicate their time to thinking about the needs of the business and attending to those needs. We have had clients who reduced their operations time by 60% to 70%.

Nutanix Cloud Manager helps your team a lot to address your current automation needs while planning for future expansion. You have a forecast of how your infrastructure is being used. This allows you to have visibility of what actions you should take to avoid reaching day zero. It helps you a lot.

Its installation is relatively simple. The administration is very intuitive. You have an HTML 5 interface that you can use on any device. I have clients who manage their infrastructure from their smartphones, no matter where they are. Its being very intuitive has helped us to deliver 4-hour workshops. We had an interesting case in the sector of transportation in Quito, Ecuador. A person who provided support and was with the help desk went on to manage the data center with just a 4-hour training. He went from being help desk support to being the data center manager, all with Nutanix. That easily gives an idea about its learning curve.

Nutanix Cloud Manager’s setup, learning curve, and ease of use were definitely important when deciding on a cloud management solution. In fact, we have been growing in infrastructure, and it has been maintained precisely due to the ease of use and small learning curve. It frees up time from the daily issues of looking at technology. The customers are happy and continue to grow.

In Ecuador, Nutanix began to introduce itself in 2016 in such a way that the customers moved from traditional infrastructures to Nutanix right away.

How was the initial setup?

We have both kinds of deployments. We have clients who have private clouds, and then we have clients who have hybrid clouds. Our clients use Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

As a company, we do the implementations autonomously. It is simple. I do not personally do it. Our technical team does it. We can do the deployment or migration of about 15 to 20 virtual machines in four hours, so investing about four hours to move an entire legacy data center solution to a Nutanix Infrastructure is more than fine.

We have an implementation strategy. We follow the best practices. We have a trained technical team, and they follow the objectives.

What was our ROI?

If you compare it with a traditional model or with a native cloud, then definitely the best alternative is to make an investment in Nutanix solutions. The return on investment varies depending on what you compare it with. In Ecuador, in the public sector, they force them to buy a three-year licensed solution. So, if you compare it to three years with traditional or cloud-native infrastructure, the Nutanix solution is definitely a winner.

For Ecuador, this is a sensitive issue. It is a small economy, so the issue of budget is very sensitive. You find many small businesses and government clients who do not renew, for example, support or guarantees, which raises the risk level for them. We are always advising them that it is necessary to renew the services or infrastructure.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated many solutions before switching to Nutanix Cloud Manager. However, once the customers get to know Nutanix, they always prefer to stay with the solution.

Our customers choose Nutanix for the experience. Our customers have stayed with Nutanix because they did feel a change before and after. Before Nutanix, managing storage required time and working on weekends outside of business hours. Having to shut down the services to make firmware updates of different components of the data center was an issue. Now they can do this during business hours without the risk of services being unavailable.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate Nutanix Cloud Manager a ten out of ten.
