What do you like best?
What I like best is that YugabyteDB is DistributedSQL, and all of features like High Availability, Horizontal Scaling and etc.
What do you dislike?
SInce, I'm a user of YugabyteDB here at the Philippines what I dislike is that it's API (YSQL = PostgreSQL) which other DBA's are not using it. What I would like is that, they add more API for other SQL's
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving from Traditional database to Modern database, wherein traditional database, it has many limitation, like scaling, failover, and etc. But with the YugabyteDB all of these capabilities, Always available, easy scaling, up or out. I can done it in just a couple of minutes.

What do you like best?
1. The Yugabyte Platform is a cloud-native, web application that comes with a subscription to the product which enables the very easy creation and deployment of YugabyteDB clusters.
2. The consistency (ACID) guarantees of the product assure me that it is very much capable of being deployed in mission-critical systems-of-record applications.
3. The fact that every node in a YugabyteDB cluster is read/write enables easy user scalability.
What do you dislike?
1. Some Postgres DDL statements are not yet supported.
2. The ysql_dump backup utility does not produce a fully Postgres-compatible dump.
3. Geo-distribution may pose some latency issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. The problem of user scalability is ably addressed by YugabyteDB
2. New applications development in a cloud-native requires a cloud-native database. YugabyteDB fills this need.
3. Overcoming vendor lock-in and ridiculously priced CAPEX licenses is addressd by YugabyteDB's flexible subscription models.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Applications development is going cloud-native. This is required by digital transformation. YugabyteDB future-proofs your applications and enables the fast-tracking of digital transformation.

Run YugabyteDB easily on the cloud

  • February 11, 2022

What do you like best?
One of the best features of using Yugabyte Cloud is the easy access to the cluster through Cloud Shell, which provides quick and secure access to the database in the browser. Yugabyte Cloud provides graphs with performance metrics, which is helpful with debugging cluster issues. The main advantage of running YugabyteDB on Yugabyte Cloud is that we do not need to worry about the underlying infrastructure. Yugabyte Cloud provides security with network access control for IP addresses and more VPCs
What do you dislike?
No support for Azure is a pain point for companies looking to run all their workloads on Azure. Yugabyte Cloud requires more granular RBAC (Role-Based Access Control); it currently only supports Developer and Admin. There are no read-only users as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Yugabyte Cloud to run YugabyteDB on the cloud with a completely managed service with the administrators still having control of scaling infrastructure. The administrative workload has reduced with the updates and infrastructure managed by the Yugabyte Cloud team.

Great way to keep your data working in a safe and secure environment

  • August 30, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best?
YugabyteDB is a great way to store and use databases in a safe and secure environment. It can handle vast amounts of data quickly, so we never have to worry about queries taking too long. Their servers are also located in many international locations, making it easy for the information to be accessed from all over the world.
What do you dislike?
Even though YugabyteDB integrates SQL, its interface tends to be slightly complicated, even for users familiar with database platforms and SQL queries. However, there are minimal instances of data being lost due to the automatic duplicate system YugabyteDB implements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With massive databases to store and work with, YugabyteDB offers us an easy way to retrieve and store information in a fast and secure way. We use it for almost all our databases needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The tutorials available on their website are a great way to get used to the interface. They are designed to walk you through all the essential features of YugabyteDB so you can start using it right away.
