Amazing Collaborative Tools

  • July 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
So many templates! I love that I can build the foundation with a template and then edit every little bit as needed for my particular project. I also like the ability to see my colleagues working together on the board when we are in a workshop setting - we call it the "feeding frenzy".
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the sharing/editing settings confusing. Who is a "team member" or an "editor"... "has a seat" or is just granted "access"... the fact that I fumble on the settings with almost every board tells me it's not super intuitive. In a similar vein, I find the labels and settings/rules for "projets" or "teams" or other organzational suff confusing to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The boards are a great way to bring remote teams together in something more exciting (and flexible and functional) than a power point. We also love that you can leave the board "open" after a meeting so that people who aren't great with thinking "on the spot" can have time to add their participation at a time that works for them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't hesitate :) Once you start exploring all the options deeply, it's incredible how many options there are available to build any visualization you might need.

Miro makes remote collaboration second-nature

  • July 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have come to like using Miro even better than in-person collaboration. In typical in-person meetings, things aren't documented and organized - with Miro, that becomes part of the process. We have working boards for all of our projects that we can refer to throughout as a source of truth, so nothing gets lost or misplaced.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sharing with clients and outside collaborators can sometimes be tricky - not always clear which permissions they'll have to edit and contribute to the board during a working session.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary benefit that I've realized with Miro is simply that it acts as a hub that everyone can refer back to and build on at any time. Previously, there was no apparent solution to organizing the disparate knowledge and processes that various team members have.

Tonic for a 'virtual' business world

What do you like best about the product?
The infinite canvas is great for people who just want to get stuck into a project. The vector based graphics allow for almost infinite zooming. The keyboard shortcuts are very useful to get ideas and concepts down quickly and the large number of templates make it easy to build on other frameworks. Its a must for visual thinkers. The smartphone app is quite usable also. Integrations with Monday.com and other CRM software make this easy to fold into existing workflows. Miro is the best tool I have found for collaborative outlining, whiteboarding and most importantly, visually explaining projects and concepts. It allows everyone in virtual meetings to get to the same page quickly and makes focusing on stuff easier. The real-time collaboration and input features are very well implemented and executed and the various input types allows me to understand which visual method resonates best with certain staff and/or clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the mindmapping feature should be fleshed out. We don't use this aspect much because you cannot hide branches etc. What could initially be perceived as a downside is the "yet another digital tool to learn how to use" argument. However, the pros here outweigh the cons on this. Getting others on board with tools will always have challenges. Other than that, there is very little to complain about here.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro solves a core issue which is getting everyone focused on the same stuff. A lot of staff are visual thinkers and miro is directly replacing our office whiteboards, post-its etc in a virtual capacity. The infinite canvas allows to to quickly build out projects, or copy these en-masse to new boards. The key benefit here for us is the way a tool like Miro can break down complex project items to simpler next steps from which we build our actions list. Its 'open' structure means you have a lot of control over how you visualse work. This is important for the afformentioned visual thinkers amongst us. Once we have something presented in a way which resonates at staff or board meetings, we make this a template. Its really that simple. great!

Easy to get started, great product!

  • July 14, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
Setting up diagrams to share with my teammates is incredibly easy. Some programs like this require a long upstart time to learn how to do very simple things, but Miro has really mastered the ability to help new users get started quickly and pain-free. I also use Miro during live brainstorming sessions as a sort of "whiteboard". It's an easy way to get my team involved and contributing.
What do you dislike about the product?
When using templates, it's a bit arduous to delete unwanted sections and make them yours. I tend to avoid templates for this reason. I also wish it were easier to download just ONE part of your board instead of the entire board when doing a PDF download.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I usually use Miro to communicate product requirements from a data perspective to my team. I'll create a diagram that shows how the customer gets to our site, where their data moves, what steps they need to take, etc. I also use Miro live during zoom calls to explain problems to my team. For instance, I'll explain where a gap in our system lives by creating a diagram that shows the flow between our database, 3rd party tools, etc., and then create another diagram to visually illustrate what we need to build.

Finally the tool I need

  • July 14, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
As responsible for the roadmap at our company, I need a tool to give me a good overview of the quickly changing situation. The roadmap is a combination of internally prioritized topics and customer requirements for upgrades. Building a consistent roadmap for the single epics, features, I am in continuous sync with different projects and their timeline. Weekly I share this information across the various stakeholders in the company - R&D, sales, management, product management, project.
The MIRO allows me to achieve the best visibility without going into technical details like in JIRA. I use only the Kanban template, which allows moving features and scheduling them very quickly to the single releases. I feel better organized and have better control over the situation.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is the possibility to create JIRA tickets for each card, which is good. It would be great to have also the option to create presentation slides for the boards.

I also tried the roadmap template with resource planning. Not flexible enough to add teams and to add members to the team. Depending on the requirements, we could enlarge a team for a particular release and decline another group. I expected features like "Drag&Drop" or "+" (add a team), (add a member to the team) or add a column to the template.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I described this in the last part. Collect requirements and build a roadmap, which I share with various stakeholders in the company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try different templates. Learn how to, and I am sure you will like it.

Fantastic tool to on-line collaboration

  • July 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is the simple way to create content and interact with teams of professionals. It allows you to make very good schematics, diagrams to structure complex systems. You can create many types of tasks and activities to collect and share ideas from many professionals to move forward together. Being a huge blank slate, you can design everything you need on it. The templates are also very good, canvas, schedules. It may seem silly, but the timer is very useful when you have many people distributed, working at the same board, but communicating by video call, divided into smaller rooms.
What do you dislike about the product?
When working with many people at the same time, I find it difficult to prevent other, less experienced members from unlocking and moving items on the board. I miss being able to block content, that only the creator of the board can unlock.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were able to move our annual strategic planning process, super-fast, online. The results we obtained, despite the improvisation, were rated by the participants as excellent (none of us knew the tool and we learned to use it very easily). It is also very easy to extract evidence of the work that is done in miro, to have information, to remember and review next year.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Miro has been a great discovery for our organization :) It has been key to addressing the change to online management of some of the most critical activities in our organization's leadership. After the Covid, I do not doubt that we will continue to use it to share knowledge, gather ideas, and collaborate between teams.
I recommend that you try it in the free version, you will quickly realize its value, and you will want the paid version ;)

Improved collaboration in a distributed workforce

  • July 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's so easy to use! I've uncovered new collaboration techniques through some of the templates available. If I have a last-minute workshop, the templates have saved me a few times by having everything already set up and in place, I can focus on facilitating the workshop and getting better results from everyone on the call.
What do you dislike about the product?
Commenting could be better. It's difficult to see when you have a lot of information on a board where the comment has come in the notifications, as there is not a direct link to the text it is responding to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helped us collaborate remotely better as a team, and it's helped me communicate early on strategic ideas to stakeholders & managers better than in a google doc or slides presentation.

Versatility brought to life

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. Extreme versatility to get ideas across.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are very few things to dislike about Miro. And they are constantly adding functionality. It just gets better and better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kanbans for projects. Ideation for problem solving. Workflow illustration. Video scripting. Agile stories and actions. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface. Only limitation is my own creativity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The free version has all the functionality but is limited in the number of boards and size of teams. As an independent consultant with future work not guaranteed, I cannot afford the subscription, but the free version meets and exceeds my current needs. However, I would recommend that large organisations pay the subscription fees and roll this out to teams collaborating locally, and especially remotely. The real time collaboration is amazing.

Miro allows remote working to be far more effective, never seen a tool that can rival this platform.
