Easy collaboration, working from anywhere

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro has a ton of powerful tools for collaborative visual thinking. The ability to click anywhere and start creating is useful and so is the seemingly endless canvas. Unlike a competitor product I'd used, Miro is easy on system resources so the browser version is not a problem to use, although I prefer the native app. The learning curve is minimal, being able to have participants contributing in a matter of minutes with a few simple instructions.

The product is also constantly being updated to improve what users care about.
What do you dislike about the product?
Version control is still a bit lacklustre, even with the new update. I'd like more options for stickies colours.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping teams have deep discussions about what is important to them in a guided, structured process that Miro enables. Additionally, Miro allows asynchronous and synchronous working in and outside of these sessions so we're able to think together in flexible ways. Being a visual tool, some of what may have remained conceptual or otherwise ambiguously interpreted with dialogue alone is enriched as people are able to express themselves in creative ways such as spatial expression of ideas.

Why I'm in love with Miro

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Very intuitive interface, even for not so much digital natives
- Simple and visual
- A lot of common shortcuts and principles with design tools (like Adobe Suite), also a perfect tool for designers, with a good integration of png/svg files, a lot of typefaces, presentation/slides futures, grid, etc
- Other apps integrations like Google Drive, Notion etc
- Principle "all in Miro" when you don't have to switch between different platforms and apps and could do a maximum by staying on Miro board: for example, you can simply conduct a workshop without using Slack or Zool, cause you already have chat and video chat in Miro; the same for images/icons search, and even fast prototyping for UX design
- Completely in love with new features as vote and music
- Miroverse and Miro ready to use templates
- More than a tool, it's firstable about community, sharing, and new collaborative future building
What do you dislike about the product?
- No translation possibility, for example for no English native users (like french, german, etc)
- A bit complicated system to allow other users to copy your board
- Less powerful than Mural, for example, for big facilitation sessions (we have recently made an event for 300 participants and Miro haven't worked as we planned: very slow, a lot of bugs; with Mural it was easier
- Mobile app is not so easy to use and powerful as a web version
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Make my workshops more visual
- Bring everyone together and do it easy and fast
- Conducting my facilitation sessions and workshops on full remote mode, which was pretty simple and fun with Miro
- Great possibility of blended work, while working offline and formalizing at the same time your reflections and actions on Miro
- Improve my design and facilitation skills at the same time
- Show my work and by working approach by showing my Miro boards and facilitation sessions recordings
Recommendations to others considering the product:
- Use the onboarding process proposed by Miro while set and roll up
- Improve your English skills or don't hesitate to use a translator to understand the interface and settings
- It's more than a simple whiteboard, try to discover more than just post-its
- Provide enough time to your guests/participants/student to discover the tool before the workshop or organize your event in order to always have an onboarding moment
- Don't hesitate to take your time and discover, test, all possible futures
- Be attentive to share your board in the right way and with the right person
-In order to simplify your work, use Miro & Miroverse templates and watch Miro academy tutorials
- In case if you have never used digital whiteboard, be sure to have enough time to deep into or engage a professional Miro facilitator

Indispensable Platform for Everything

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My company uses Miro for everything. For hours every day, I am using MIro. The expansive collaborative workspace allows for unrestricted work. The dynamic tools within Miro allow for working in different ways: planning, system mapping, workshops, etc.. The UI allows for working quickly and it is beautiful to boot.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Miro would restrict the number of characters in a sticky note. It is so obnoxious when people write novels in one. It gets in the way of the one-idea, one-sticky note principle we try to use in workshops.

I wish I could choose the direction and style of tiling when I expand the pages from a PDF. Same with copying in cells from Excel.

I wish that Miro would automatically change the board preview section to a snapshot of the most-used area of the board.

We like to use the link-to feature for break-out rooms. It is sometimes difficult to explain to guests that they need to click the tiny arrow in the upper right-hand corner of the object. I wish there were a more expanded button section. This would help with break-out rooms, UX/UI wireframing, and self-guided workshops.

I wish I could import SVGs

It would be cool to have a window in miro that scrolled, so you could use a multi page document without having to expand it.

It would be cool if pressing space bar brought up a floating tool menu like in CAD programs.

I use the ntoifications tab to see what comments are left for me. I wish there was a button right up front that I could click to go to the comment. Most of the time I want to see where the comment was placed.

Why is the searching board content only an enterprise feature? Thats lame.

I wish I could create parent/child elements like in UX/UI software so I could create branded elements and make changes throughout a board.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Planning, workshops, system mapping, and remote collaboration
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Miro is fantastic and beats competitors.

Ultimate shared collaboration planning tool

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
it's a giant Pureref board that's online, can handle tons of images, works fast, great for writing down ideas and linking things with lines
its great for my line of work around art and videos. I even got my workplace to buy a bunch of accounts to use for my team
What do you dislike about the product?
it loses a point for not having darkmode built in. Being in this industry too long has made my eyes sensitive to bright screens, and the background for miro is glaring white.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
art is a fickle thing, words can't describe exactly what someone wants when working with a team of artists,
you need to show video, images, gifs, and Miro does all these, and if someone says make it pop, they can create a small collection with a frame called pop
so you actually understand what someone really wants, rather than guessing.
It's also great for shared scratch notes on shots or whatever that people can share with the team

Great tool for teachers

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Miro in my classes since schools were closed in Germany. It's an excellent tool for working together in groups, collecting and organizing information, and presenting it to the class. It's easy to use, and students of all ages had no problems understanding the different features and the various ways to communicate and interact. Scrolling through the change history of a whiteboard is very useful since students sometimes delete items by accident. So it's easy to restore these items. I also plan to use Miro when students come back to school again because it's easy to use on mobile devices like tablets or smartphones.
The most helpful feature is the different shapes which can either be inserted pre-filled or blank. With just one click, you can add more aspects to the page and shape it individually.
Students can communicate very easily when working simultaneously through the chat, but they can also leave comments for their classmates when they work at different times or at different speeds.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't dislike anything about Miro. I've been using it in different scenarios for different age groups, and none of them had any significant issues using Miro.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In homeschooling times, it was hard to find interactive ways to work in groups or teams and present results for everyone. Miro helped solving this problem.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Miro has been offering easy access to the education plan. See their website for further info.

A great tool for creative collaboration for design agencies

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility of tools makes it incredibly easy to collaborate between creative teams. Miro makes it easy for newcomers to use a digital whiteboard even if they have never tried a similar application before. You can use it on desktop computers or phones and tablets, and it's best on touch screens.
One of the great advantages of Miro is that it allows you to create a digital work environment that allows you to collaborate with your teammates in real time.

Once on a board, you can see where each team member is (through a cursor with their name), while everyone can modify their content at the same time.

In addition, you can make a video call from the same platform and share a screen.
What do you dislike about the product?
The onboarding process can be a little overwhelming for non-tech people. The only problem is that its free version limits many of these features, making it perfect for singles or very small design teams. If you have more than three people who need to use a whiteboard app, consider paying for Miro.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro helps us collaborate between our designers without the need of being on-site in the studio. The main board has a variety of templates you can insert, such as kanban boards, flowcharts, mind maps, etc. The rest of the whiteboard space remains empty and you can insert various templates. This is a fantastic way to use different brainstorming methods on a whiteboard.
Collaboration is a key element of Miro. You and team members can chat and send messages, add comments, leave sticky notes, and create a centralized note for meeting items. You can also link and embed into other team apps such as Slack. The premium version also includes video chat, voting and screen sharing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Miro can be adapted to the needs of your organization, if you find a way to integrate it into your work processes.

A great example is the Kanban board that allows you to visualize the flow of tasks, prioritize them and assign them to different members of your team. The cards allow you to add comments and mention other users.

Broaden integrated popular collaboration tools and great academy content

  • May 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Visualization ideas and collaboration between teams, add-on/extension and integrated to popular business/creative apps to maximize productivity. Save time, cost, and effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
Difficult move objects, resizes and format via Web based; a little different between windows app and web base.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Get more ideas about saving (somethings) via reflect opposite games/ideas (saving energy in this office); benefit with the Miro was collecting some weird ideas but very useful in the other ways of viewing the problems.

We got solution by implementing controls to resists all ideas (not saving energy) case-by-case and get priority to get comprehensive solution.

Miro change how I collaborated!

  • May 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Since the start of the pandemic and being sent home to work remotely, I was searching and searching for something to help with collaboration. I wanted something for the team I led and to work with others outside of it. Miro gave me that! It is where we brainstormed ideas, mapped out projects, and much more.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly don't have anything I dislike about the app. I'm not just saying that either. I checked it out when it used to be called Realtimeboard (or something like that) and it has come a long way. Even last year they were working on new feature after new feature and it really shows!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I previously stated, I was looking to solve the loss of working in an office and having that collaboration that came with it. In Miro, I have everyone on the same board sharing ideas. This is what was missing. Even when we occasionally were in the office last year, we still used this across departments or if someone was working remotely that day.

Great tool, I just love it!

  • May 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very intuitive, visual, collaborative, I love that the boards are borderless and that you can easily rearrange all kinds of elements (post-its, pics, diagrams,...). Also, the templates are great! The tutorials (Miro Academy) are quite helpful to move to a more advanced usage.
Very useful to brainstorm as an agile team building software solutions.
I even use it on a personal level to collect screenshots and articles worth keeping for later analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
A detail: CMD + K shortcut not available to link a single word.
Sometimes a board can bet a bit laggy (but that is probably because I have one with a LOT of stuff, I'm impressed it doesn't get slower).
Boards only load when you're actually on the tab (you can't just open the tab and wait for the board to load while you're doing something else in a different tab)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro helps me brainstorm with the teams, define product specifications, and gather valuable visual information for later, all in one place! It also helps to organize ideas and draft presentations.

MIRO has let me keep working collaboratively with clients virtually. It's a life saver!

  • May 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The flexability and access to top-tier templates.
What do you dislike about the product?
The space switching on the left caused confusion for some of our internal users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We initially used MIRO as a process mapping tool to replace whiteboards during lockdown. We have since adopted it for nearly every meeting we have. It provides structure to virtual calls and acts as a record of the meetings. It's also replaced multiple tools such as VISO, Trello, PowerPoint, and various wireframing tools.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When rolling out the enterprise or organization level accounts be careful of rogue users that create their own organizations and invite people. I found 2 additional MIRO instances once we began the rollout of the enterprise accounts.
