Indispensable tool for Remote Productivity Teams & Client Collaboration

  • July 20, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use the Zoho One Platform and I'm loathe to pay for more subscriptions, particularly if it's functionality that we can build or adapt for ourselves somehow. Miro, along with Zoom and a few others, is just indispensable. If you use it and commit to taking advantage of its features, it will prove its worth 10x over what it costs in fees. In a remote world, meetings need to be run-well and engaging and Miro is an incredible tool to make this happen and keep things interesting, focussed and collaborative - with team members and clients alike. As well, if you have a measure-twice, cut-once culture, then you need to be drafting, planning and concepting a LOT. Miro is indispensable here.
What do you dislike about the product?
My ONLY ask: I regularly freeze panes and then forget to unlock when I'm cloning items. Would be handy to have an auto-unlock feature with cloning, so you're not left with stranded items as your copying and pasting with elements. Also, manipulating layers is slightly less ideal than in full-blown vector based Adobe Illustrator. It would be nice to have a "move this item 1 layer back" instead of an all-or-nothing "all back" or "all front" option. Spreadsheet integration could also be reexamined. I find it a bit difficult to work with tables, e.g. columns/rows. Also - imports of excel data into Miro auto-defaults to stickers. This is not bad, but it would be cool to have other options (e.g. if it could default into a table format).

Subscriber admin priveleges need to be improved: I wish, as the OWNER of the product that I could administratively manage all projects, even those created by other members of the team. It's frustrating to have to get an employee who is an admin on a project they created to make small edits. At present, I have to wait for them to rename a project, etc. I should be able to have super-master-admin-master-of-the-universe powers if I'm paying for the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're an accounting firm and we have found Miro to be useful to help map out Charts of Accounts, to specify recommended child-parent heirarchies, to colour code team members and clients and to help us in mapping/concepting across a million other applications. Oh, and you can use it for live video meetings. I also love it for social media management. We queue up all our posts, draft to our hearts content and then we can then integrate Hootsuite, Soho Social or whatever else we're using to put the final content in. A lot of applications have some level of queuing support, but they're not really best used for drafting/development. Miro succeeds in unmatched blending of almost any type of content together in a visually interesting way. Need emojis? Need mind-mapping toolls - its all there. The number of templates is also crazy. Chances are, some organization has a methodology or concept map that can help you with what you're working with. Clients also love looking at something you prepped & made professional for a meeting rather than just your face blabbing on zoom. Overall, awesome app, definitely 5 stars!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to collaborate virtually or run meetings more effiicently and track progress week over week - Miro is your friend. It works seamlessly with a project management tool like monday.com or Zoho Project. You will be blown away by he number of workflows that get better with Miro. But, there is a learning curve, and be willing to watch those training videos and really learn all the use cases. Make sure you train your team to get the full benefits.

Great online collaboration and ideation tool

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
User-friendly virtual collaboration for a huge amount of participants. Best for virtual research and co-creation workshops. Great tool for virtual team building too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Board sharing/invitation could get tricky if you want to keep team/board members to a certain number. The "lock" function can get tricky because only board owners can unlock them and you have to unlock them every time you need a small edit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for design research, co-creation/ideation workshops, research synthesis, and system design thinking. This is a great tool to collaborate virtually and I like to see that how my co-workers have been editing things while I'm away.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The "lock" function can get tricky because only board owners can unlock them and you have to unlock them every time you need a small edit.

Good for creating user flows and flow charts

What do you like best about the product?
This platform is so Awesome! It is so easy to collaborate with team members and cost-efficient. It offers so many features which are fully customizable. Few things I like the best are:
1. The facilitators can bring everyone to the same place with just one click. Given that miro offers a pretty huge board, it's normal for the team members to wander around. This feature makes it so much easier
2.Provides a user-friendly interface and great user experience when you want to create a new board or flowcharts. It also offers pre-defined templates like a kanban board, mind mapping, quick retros.
3. Can create multiple workspaces and the onboarding access is so simple and intuitive.
4. It really does not need any technical skills to use this platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the export option to PDF and word documents does not work but it's not necessary to import every time.
It would be really good if miro introduces the paint feature and tools for creating simple wireframes.
It can have few other collaborative tools integrated like slack, teams etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. I am getting very intuitive insights from the miro app with the upgraded version. I am able to make business decisions in an easier way.
2. I am able to collaborate with other tools like Google Images and icon finder which makes it easier to import other images.
3. This has ownership rights which makes it easier to collaborate with other external team members if I have to give them the "Only-View" option.
4. So easy to add connectors, sticky notes, frames which are helpful in making my sketch look neat.
5. There is an option for writing a "note" or "to-do" list.

What do you like best about the product?
- compeltely customizable: you can play a lot and enever get bored
- a space for creativity: you have total freedom to create whatever you can & even can't imagine
- super user friendly interface: 2 min for onboarding newcomers
- cross-platform: I usually srart on my desktop app, then swith to iPad for some drawing, and can upload a photo of stickies from my iPhone
- interactive: you feel like a creator; you want to try everything & invent new things
- visually good looking: it's aesthetically pleasant to work with this tool; it's also possible to use miro for both "dirty back end work" and "shiny front end" presentations & performances
- can be used for various purposes: workshops, life plans, team check ins, board games, etc.
- timer function: using all the time for workshops
What do you dislike about the product?
- browser version is lagging: I'm using macOS Big Sur 11.4, had to switch to the desktop app only; tried with Safari & Chrome, both lagging & crashing down
- exporting as pdf sometimes doesn't work: needed to export a huge table, just stopped working
- lack of fonts, especially cyrillic
- lack of editing functions for images: would be amazing to be able to at least rotate & crop uploaded pictures
- limited drawing tools: I'm using iPad + pencil, and it takes time to choose the proper scale; additionally, it's only three active colors and one pen & one highlighter
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- running interactive educational sessions, e.g. workshops, lectures, courses
- daily & weekly team check ins + documentation
- strategy meetings
- PR work: developing webpages, outlining SMM strategy, preparing content
- fun activities: energizers, games, check ins
Recommendations to others considering the product:
- start with a free version to check out the functionality! soon, you'll want to switch to a paid account

- join the miro community — great people & ideas!
- miro is a gamechanger; you won't get back to boring slides!

Way more than just a virtual whiteboard

  • July 15, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a super versatile software. At our company we use it for brainstorming sessions, planning meetings, debriefs, kanban boards to track tasks and progress, collaborating on video scripts, sharing early ideas, documenting user research ... pretty much everything. It's also great for onboarding new empolyees, because all information is there and linked.
The team behind Miro seems to be super dedicated - continuously shipping new features in really short cycles.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of our boards are very big in terms of size and number of elements on them and that makes them slow and not very responsive even when using the dedicted Miro app.
Also: The designer in me wants to be able to add drop shadows and gradients to elements :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborating got infinitely more easy and convenient with Miro. Sharing powerpoint or keynote files is still quite the hassle in comparision and doesn't offer as much flexibility as Miro's infinte canvas does.
What I really like is how well it works for doing interviews and even remote rapid prototyping sessions with our users and potential customers.

Not a perfect product, but powerful and continuously improved!

  • July 15, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro is highly versatile and powerful in terms of features - it is perfect for product management. What really impresses me is, that Miro constantly takes user feedback into consideration and works hard on adding value. I have been using this tool since 2017, when it was still realtimeboard and it has improved A LOT! Also the customer support has always been extremely nice and helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of usability issues in handling of on board elements (esp. post it's, tags & arrows). Unfortunately Miro does not yet handle very big (a lot of elements) boards very well. It tends to be somewhat slow and laggy at times. Also, if you decide to scale things to different sizes usually it is not very easy to keep the same shape. Tables and graphs are a little too basic in my opinion. The color system should be widened and based on hex colors to personalize properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
User Research (interviews notes, task modelling, proof of concept testing, affinity mapping etc.), Road Mapping (a lot of great templates!), Prototyping (sufficient libraries for most basic purposes), Workshops (interactive and exclusive organization is really easy like this and a lot of tools and templates make it fun, fun, fun!) - It is remarkable, how for a product manager you can use Miro for so many things! I is one of my favorite tools.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take your time to explore and keep discovering Miro has tons of gems to offer! And really consider to use the desktop version - it runs much faster and is way more stable!

A great tool to draw diagrams and flows with your team

  • July 15, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It works really smoothly, including when there are several people collaborating in real-time. It's easy to use and start with and comes with some predefined items and templates to start working with a team just by sharing a link. The rest of the team can join by logging, or also in anonymous mode.

Another feature I find really useful is to "follow" a person, so the canvas is always following the presenter´s mouse cursor.

Finally, the last feature on the most liked group is the marketplace of apps Miro can integrate with. It's easy to find a lot of tools you're already using, if not all of them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes we need more specific visual items to use in the diagrams without having to upload an image, but I guess they cannot provide all possible use cases.

There's a Zapier integration, but I miss an Integromat one to automate with my current work apps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking for a tool to use in our video conferences to share ideas and make flow diagrams, and Miro accomplished it. With this tool, we can analyze what we want to do, propose a diagram of the solution, discuss and modify, and finally decide the solution and export it to our documentation system. So the main benefit is that we can replace more easy our office meetings with a video call.

Another problem we solved with Miro is the brainstorming meetings. When we need to think about pending work to improve our application, for example, we find it easy to open a canvas, start to add notes, and then decide which ones we want to start working with, and the other remain there for the next session.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There's a free plan, so the best idea is just to register and try it for one or two sessions. Soon you'll decide if it fits your needs.

Miro

What do you like best about the product?
the template and the fact that i can change the base template as i like
What do you dislike about the product?
if i have to put many items i have to arrange each one and there isn't a feature like "grid"
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
i'm a facilitator and with miro i runned my courses in the lockdown so for me was a way to work.
it's easy to explain to my customer and very nice to see, so for it's easy to propose for my workshop

Miro is essential for digital collaboration

  • July 14, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The unrestricted environment to create in is the best part. From small brainstorming sessions to building out an in-depth and involved workshop for a large group, complete with breakout sessions and slideshows, Miro can handle it all.

The integrations are also incredibly helpful. The ability to import files from google drive and tasks from Asana during our team's brainstorming sessions have allowed us to capture ideas that have been scattered across platforms and engage with them in more creative ways.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve, particularly for folks that may be less tech-savvy. While Miro has many learning resources available, having to go through them before folks feel comfortable enough with the platform to engage with it can delay them from fully engaging.

I also really wish that Miro had the ability to draw shapes with the pen tool then fill them in with a paint bucket tool. There have been more than a few occasions where I'd love to be able to create simple illustrations, and end up having to do so in Illustrator, exporting it, then uploading it to Miro.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our work in restorative justice relies on human connection and relationships, and we've used Miro to engage and connect in different ways than the video conferencing that we've all become too familiar with. For example, we've hosted virtual restorative justice circles through Miro, along with countless activities for check-ins and icebreakers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I find that the best way to move past the initial learning curve is to dive in and play with the program. Many features are very intuitive, particularly if you're comfortable using common keyboard shortcuts, but It can take some practice to feel confident.

Also, take advantage of all of the templates available in the Miroverse!
