    Public Relations and Communications

Meltwater is our primary media monitoring tool.

What do you like best about the product?
I love how versatile Meltwater is - it can be used for media relations, data analysis, sentiment tracking, etc. and you can track traditional, broadcast, and social media on it. It is very reliable in terms of pulling all coverage that I need and the help desk representatives are extremely quick and attentive, which I really appreciate. I use it often for monitoring and have depended very heavily on it over the past two years for client needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
What has caused me difficulty on the platform is the user friendliness generally. It often lags and the platform can slow my work down, as it takes a long time to load various interfaces. Sometimes the dashboards in the analytics tabs can be touch sensitive too with dates and certain inputs. With urgent client needs, I feel that the platform has been slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me monitor my client's media needs.

Unique and useful media relations & media monitoring tool!

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the advanced search function and now Mira AI has been a really useful tool just as a starting point as well. I used to use the comparison feature a lot on several previous client teams, as well as the classic dashboard. I also appreciate the media relations search feature which is often helpful for finding reporter emails. Alerts are also a fantastic feature and are fairly real-time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is slow or doesn't pull in articles that should be pulled, etc. which i often will ask the reps about in the chat function but sometimes that can be a bit slow as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Media relations and helping find contact info as well as monitoring to watch the news for my clients regularly

What do you like best about the product?
Aside from delivering a media database and search monitoring capabilities, I most value Meltwater's customer service.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downside is maybe that there are always updates being rolled out, which can sometimes lead to us not using the tool to its full extent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater makes it easy to find reporters for pitching efforts. It also streamlines reporting for clients.

Streamlining news scans, saving time

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has significantly reduced the amount of time I spend searching for relevant news articles for my client. What used to be a tedious and manual task every day has become much more efficient and streamlined. In addition, it was easy to be added to my client's account without any issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Configuring the terms in the 'explore' section proved quite challenging when we tried to pull news in the specific way our client requested. However, after a quick call with our Meltwater representative, the issue was resolved quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater is helping us keep track of any mentions of our client in the news as they happen, which makes us more efficient. It has also made our daily newsletter process much smoother, reducing the amount of manual work required.

Excellent tool for media outreach

  • October 01, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is magnificent at identifying journalists who've written about specific topics. As an old-school media relations professional, I remember the days when we hunted up media contacts using thick, spiral-bound books. The ability to craft custom distribution lists for specific topics results in high engagement rates and an astonishingly low unsubscribe rate of less than .1%.
What do you dislike about the product?
Meltwater is not terribly adept at targeting journalists in discrete geographic areas. It's greatest strength is national outreach, followed by state-level. When the focus narrows to even major metropolitan area, it gets increasingly clunky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have little interaction with social media. My focus is legacy media--newspapers, television, radio--and their online presence. With the demise of printed media directories I relied for more than a decade on curated distribution lists I compiled myself. Meltwater's ability to compile specific contact lists based on beats and topics is an amazing resource. It has allowed us to generate earned media in markets we never had access to before.

Solid tool with great AI features and customer support, but requires tuning

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has become much more valuable to us now that we’re working more closely with our customer success team and going beyond the classic use cases of alerts and monitoring. The new AI tools, especially Mira, are excellent for streamlining searches, setting up alerts, and analyzing content. Once you take the time to understand and use all the features, the platform delivers a lot of value and insights that would otherwise be very time-consuming to gather.
What do you dislike about the product?
Meltwater can be noisy if you don’t invest in building strong boolean queries. There’s a learning curve, and without careful tuning, the results can feel overwhelming. It’s also on the expensive side, but the value is there if you know how to leverage the platform fully. I think the premium content package has the potential to be really valuable but it's hard to actually access the content and there's no where to find a full list of what's included.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We rely heavily on the monitoring and alerting features, it's great for things like issues and incident management. The Mira tool is helping to streamline this with AI. We also use Meltwater as the basis of our measurement reports for PR.

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has gotten continuously easier to use, especially now with AI integration. Customer support team is attentive and 24/7 chat gets me answers outside of regular work hours. I've just started using their reporting service which has been helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike our paid and web results can't be integrated into the platform for ease of reporting. It's still rather manual.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater benefits us by being a single source for a lot of our marketing and PR needs.

Great resource for my job

What do you like best about the product?
I love the reporting but most importantly, the media contact lists and outreach capability through the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
When uploading your own CSV list of contacts, the system requires the spreadsheet to meet certain criteria. Sometimes, I find that I don't have all the information it asks for, which can make the process difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I appreciate receiving the daily mentions report, as it has helped me discover items I might have otherwise missed.

User at small agency enjoys leveraging the tool to track/analyze media coverage for various clients.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the Meltwater's core capabilities, especially with Explore and Analyze, as well as the scale and breadth of media content it pulls from. Having access to mCommunity is also really helpful, and I enjoy discovering new features as well as how other users leverage the tool. It's also great to have our own client success rep who we can contact whenever questions arise. Lastly, it's been awesome to explore using Mira Studio through our free trial - I love skipping the Boolean and getting quick answers to key questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
My knowledge gap with using Boolean logic. Needing to use Boolean to filter out irrelevant results from my searches (i.e., mentions from other brands that share the same company name as the brand I'm searching for) has been a struggle. I often don't know why certain news articles aren't populating for my searches. I also don't love the lag time for when some content shows up on the platform. Other small nitpicks include: not being able to filter results by duplicates, not being able to edit the titles of Tags, and the inaccuracies associated with the way the tool measures sentiment. Lastly, Meltwater's sales tactics can feel a bit forceful at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater is helping us with brand/reputation management for several clients. The tool also gives us a pulse on the discourse surrounding various topics our clients are interested in - across news and social media.
