Meltwater is the Winner in Social Media Monitoring.

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is extremely useful in being able to monitor what is being said about our company on a global scale - specifically on social media. I get an email every morning that shows me exactly who is saying what and on which platform. From here I can take action and ensure that I'm staying ahead of any negative - and positive! - remarks. We also have the media monitoring set-up, but we don't use this as much.
What do you dislike about the product?
Meltwater's platform can be a bit tricky to learn. It's not a very simple platform - though it's relatively drag-and-drop, but you have to be uber-aware of how to put together the lists you need so everything will be monitored correctly. That's where the Account Managers come into play. So, on the whole, if you don't have a lot of time to learn the platform - it's virtually impossible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We primarily use Meltwater as a social media monitoring tool. We're a global organization, so it can be difficult to have a full picture of how our business is being referenced across the world. But Meltwater solves that problem!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think Meltwater would be best suited for those who use every aspect of the platform - PR, Media, and Social Media Monitoring. Definitely try it out if you're only using for one or the other, but it's something that benefits an organization that will go "all-in".

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can easily set up searches for online and social media news coverage within the platform. It is easy to collect information on coverage -- such as number of placements and total potential coverage data. It is easy to tag placements and create charts to represent the data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Meltwater had the function to search "last month's" news coverage. This is a feature that needs to be added, rather than just having the current month, quarter, 14-days or week. I also dislike the way social media coverage is displayed. I wish there was a simpler way to review that type of coverage. There should also be the capability to directly download/export reports from Meltwater, rather than having the reports emailed to you for download. This can be very inconvenient and cost my team time when trying to keep these reports moving.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater has helped my team accurately search online news coverage for the B2B industry, within a very niche market. The customer service and support is excellent and they are always very responsive.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This online platform is easy to use if you need to track online news and social media coverage.

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to use. Separate dashboards can be created as per your interest. It helps gain information on important issues.

Sometimes it lags and creates disruption

It helps us be updated by sending us daily news updates. It also analyses the media updates through graphics

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Meltwater allows me to personalize the dashboards to really get to what I need. It helps us with our media monitoring needs and it serves us very well when we are looking for information about a particular subject. We can specialize our reports and that helps us with industry news as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be a little hard to decipher the information, especially when it comes to gauging sentiment on news pieces. Additionally, it takes a little bit of time to ensure that you have the Boolean set up correctly, but it's worth it once you have it fine-tuned correctly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater has helped us help our clients in ways that we were previously unable to. It's a one-stop shop when it comes to media monitoring.

If you are looking for a media monitoring tool, this is a great one for you to use! We have really enjoyed using this at our company.

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is a great way to look at social media analytics! I mostly have used meltwater to help clients gauge there engagement and find ways to improve reach online.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a little difficult to learn at first! It took me a while to get the hang of using the service, but now it works great for my purposes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater provides a streamlined look at social media analytics, which is essential for helping my clients use the reach of social media to maximize their business potential! This could be really useful for anyone looking to improve their social media!

What do you like best about the product?
We often faced problems when finding the right data from twitter for us to use. For example, the search algorithm sometimes didn't find all the tweets that we wanted to find. The customer service then helped us to fix the algorithm which made us being able to find all the tweets when we were looking for a specific keyword.
What do you dislike about the product?
I disliked that the user interface sometimes wasn't as intuitive as it could possibly be in order to find the data that we were looking for. And the fact that the search algorithm sometimes didn't find all the tweets and facebook posts that actually existed showed up were something we disliked.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped us monitoring what social media thinks about our company. Follow average trends etc.

What do you like best about the product?
When Meltwater is able to catch all of my articles, the tagging feature is really nice to keep track of different campaigns. I'm sure that the analysis of coverage is helpful, too, but I can't even use it until I get to a point where its tracking all my coverage.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not user-friendly - doesn't feel like it was created with its audience (PR pros) in mind. Doesn't catch around half of my coverage. While my rep tries to be helpful, they often ultimately take up quite a bit of my time (Saving time was the reason I got Meltwater.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working to cut down time spent on manually finding media coverage via google alerts. Have been using MW for a year and I'm not quite there yet.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would seek out advice from other pros on what they're using.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the search functions best, it's easy and thorough searching by topics, keywords, etc. I use this to track coverage for clients and it digs up everything, catches more than Google alerts for sure.
What do you dislike about the product?
The database/library of journalists/authors/publishers is not very large. We are always having to add people from scratch which is not easy or intuitive. The site has a lot of UI glitches and is not always intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Outreach to media and influencers, tracking coverage for clients, searching media by keywords.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They have a ways to go, customer service is great and they are responsive to customer feedback.
