Easy to use and wonderful tool

  • January 17, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I loved the features to sync scia media and how easy it was to send Press releases and track our presence online.
What do you dislike about the product?
A little bit of a learning curve but it was great to have our rep help us when we had questions (which was often!)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted to track our online presence better and to see all mediums that were covering the Woodruff Arts Center. We also wanted a centralized place to send our Press Releases and a place that everybody from our Communications team could go to and pull analytics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's worth the price and was a great centralized tool for our Communications team.

    Media Production

Helpful but Cluttered

  • January 17, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like all the various features you can use via Meltwater. I fully understand why it is such a well known and widely used tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Though it is helpful it's also a bit cluttered. It is not always user-friendly and I feel like it ends up being a lot of work to acquire some really simple data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is very beneficial to keep track of general media monitoring and influencer targeting.

Pretty nifty targeting tool - if you are willing to pay for it

  • January 16, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I loved that I had the ability to really drill down into its contacts database to identify key targets. With similar programs, I felt I was limited in what I had access to. As long as you have the full (not trial) membership, the world is at your fingertips.
What do you dislike about the product?
The PRICE. The data is great, customer service is great...heck, even the salespeople are top notch (I finally gave in after months of them pestering me for a demo). But the price... It ended up being a little too steep for our group, so it had to go once we consolidated our budget.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It enabled us to increase our reach tremendously, in addition to "listening' to the media to locate mentions of our company. This helped us realize the benefit of the software. And the benefit of our communciations team.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Fairly decent

  • January 16, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Used by similar organizations in the international affairs/development arena, wide coverage globally.
What do you dislike about the product?
Doesn't cover media in foreign languages, can miss out on things covered by google alerts, yahoo, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
very expensive for any tv/print coverage as added on features.

Worst Business Interaction I have had in 10 Years of 10

  • January 15, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Nothing. Painful experience and I will never try it again.
What do you dislike about the product?
Meltwater has been a horrible experience since my days in my first agency. They overcharge, under service and threaten to bring you to collections when you complain or try to cancel. Email database is out of date, social listening is amateur and customer service is just despicable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They just keep threatening me with legal action and collections when we are trying to set up a meeting to sort it out. They keep cancelling our meetings without follow up and then send rude emails demanding payment for services we aren't even using.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Stop threatening my brand new business with legal action and collections. Your contract was not even signed by a person legally binding my company. Learn how to treat your customers and get a reality check on your pricing.

    Public Relations and Communications

Doesn't compare to other social listening platforms

  • January 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The traditional media monitoring capabilities are fine and I would argue even better than Factiva though possibly not even as comprehensive or easy to use as Google News was.
What do you dislike about the product?
The social listening capabilities do not provide the very strong insights. I would say it's better for issues management (pulling in data in real time, metrics) than landscape analyses (looking at trends, user data, understanding audiences).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This was used at my company for monitoring, primarily around new announcements or crisis issues. Because they were reducing how many platforms we had, it was also used for analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're using this as a social listening tool, think specifically about what kind of information you're looking for. Monitoring on Meltwater will be different than performing landscape analyses.

Meltwater is Invaluable Tool for Media Monitoring, but has its Flaws

  • January 12, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's hard to imagine life without Meltwater. Almost all media monitoring/analysis begins with this tool, which allows you to pull down convenient reports or perform ad hoc searches of a massive amount of media.
What do you dislike about the product?
Meltwater isn't perfect--it struggles to pull from outlets with paywalls, including the New York Times. Sometimes its dashboard/format can be cumbersome, but it is generally intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater allows me to understand the volume and quality of media coverage an issue, organization, or individual is receiving. It allows for confident monitoring and analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It may be overwhelming at first, but the capabilities of Meltwater will become comfortably accessible with a little practice.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Useful, but Expensive & unimpressive

  • January 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is extremely useful and has a best-in-class database of journalists that is easily understood and simply searched. They've recently also developed a similarly high-performing database for social influencers that is arguably even more useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Treat this software like a database, not a magic bullet. Their outreach functionality does not guarantee eyeballs any more than sending out a press release on the PR newswire might. Yes, you can find a journalist's contact info on this site. No, it does not mean you can successfully woo the journalist.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use meltwater for traditional media monitoring and it has performed well. We receive daily updates, the content is easily customized, and the customer service is absolutely top-notch.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are few options out there for media monitoring and influencer discovery. Meltwater is an exceptional option, if you can afford it. It is not a magic bullet to get your content more eyeballs, but it will perform exactly as it says it will perform, and has great customer service to boot.
