Cheaper Plans With More Features

  • October 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is significantly cheaper than plans from other PR database features while offering more features for a basic plan. I love that I can pay less than for Cision yet have the major added benefit of being able to export my lists.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as many users, not confident that the contacts are as robust or up-to-date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater makes PR so much easier. It is particularly helpful for things like direct mail campaigns and email campaigns because you don't have to pay extra to export contact data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would highly recommend Meltwater, particularly for smaller businesses who cannot justify the cost of Cision's best plans.

Great as a social media listening tool, has a ton of way to search for topics
What do you dislike about the product?
not great for publishing, platform is sluggish
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
social listening, real time monitoring during events
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We had a Sysomos employee on site which made using it easier but it is a very large program that needs training.

Good Daily Email

  • October 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater sends you a daily email of notifications where your business is featured.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even with the online training seminars they do, the other traits of this technology don't seem necessary
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Finding mentions in the news. The daily email was appreciated
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explore their other uses. It is certainly worth buying the next level up with instagram and facebook compatibility.

Meltwater Review

  • October 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a great tool for media monitoring and coverage. The new AI features also help draft press releases and other communications.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user experience and interface aren't as great as they could be. I've demoed other platforms that are much more user-friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Can find news on any company or event.
Helps track our hits in the media and our competitiors.
I can find reporter contact that I need.

Worthwhile Investment

  • October 20, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We've tried other software that claims to do what Meltwater does, so far we haven't found anything to compare. The analytics, real-time monitor, just about everything has helped us get the great results for our clients who are the users. It's the top product we recommend for our clients to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tech support can be a bit slow but we've been working on it long enough that one of our firm's partners can give intro-to classes for Meltwater.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Audience targeting, rapid response, media trends, research and ensuring our content is what our clients need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We've had very few tech glitches but when it happens it takes a while to get a fix for the problem. Other than that only an improved visual "dashboard" would be appreciated.

Deceptive Practices

  • October 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater offers competitive, yet overpriced services.
What do you dislike about the product?
Meltwater is a deceptive company:

1. They don't tell you this, but there is a 60 day cancellation policy, buried in their terms of use, which - by the way - is not included in the contract you sign. The terms of use are linked to, within the contract, but not attached to the contract.

2. The terms of use require you to email / write them 60 days prior to the end of your subscription term if you wish to cancel. After 60 days they lock you in for another entire year of overpriced 'service'.

3. They send an automated email a week after the 60 day renewal period has begun, "reminding" you that you will be using their service for another year, whether you like it or not. If they were an above-board company, they would send you an auto reminder email a week before they lock you in, letting you know that you are nearing your 60 day window.

The fact that this 60 day policy is buried within the terms of use, not present in the contract, and not communicated by the sales people is evidence that Meltwater is an extremely shady company.

Stay away from them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They are a glorified "Google Alerts". We no longer use them.
