Sysomos is great for social analytics

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to search multiple handles and retrieve custom content. The ability to customize exactly what insights you're looking for is key (date range, social information, etc.). I like the ability to see reach, impressions, follower stats, influence, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
I actually find Sysomos more confusing and more difficult to use following the recent update to the software. I think training could be better implemented for UX and ease of use when updates are issued
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's great for social media analytics and measuring the impact of a social media campaign with reach, impressions, metrics and more.

Explore all of the different measurement and analytics functions

Easy for quick research

What do you like best about the product?
It gives you the correct impressions for each article
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is that it could be filtered a little better
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this for our clients when we have to create press indexes and need to document the readership and the hits they received when they do an event.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Super helpful, especially when you need more than one person looking at it.

What do you like best about the product?
Sysomos is an easy to use platform that allows users to understand social conversations around key topics using Boolean search queries, along with sentiment analyses, reach and engagement measures.
What do you dislike about the product?
While there is a sentiment read within the platform, like all machine learning, quality and nuance of tone is better suited for coding by an analyst.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Who is talking about our campaign? How can we better engagement with them? Does our campaign change the conversation in terms of volume, tone, or content?

pulls social, news, all monitoring under one solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
seems only to pull google-indexed news results.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
save time in searching for individual results.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
negotiate, negotiate, negotiate! - also, there's a hidden, 60-day re-up clause hidden in the fine print. So if you don't cancel 60 days before the initial term is up, you sign up for another year. That just sucks.

Staying up to date the minute my clients are mentioned helps minimize potentially harmful PR related issues, which is a huge benefit to staying on top of communication.

Customer service. Every time i call with a question or request my inquiry is responded to promptly.

It doesn't pick up all the hits all the time.

What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to access all of the times our organization has been mentioned in the news (or on social media) and generate a report for funding/reporting purposes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alas, software like this comes with a price. I wish it were slightly cheaper, though they do offer tiered packages based on what you can pay.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to track our media hits (and other analytics associated with those hits). This service does a great job at tracking a variety of keywords that you select, and maintaining a database of the places where the keywords appear in the news. We also use Meltwater to identify appropriate reporters who may be interested in our occasional press releases.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This has been an incredible timesaver for me as a communications manager, especially when it comes to quarterly reporting to our board and publishing our annual report. Just be sure you know what you need from a service like this so that you don't waste your money.

Picks Up Way More than Google Analytics

What do you like best about the product?
It's a pretty streamlined experience. Similar to Google Analytics, but it definitely catches a lot more mentions of my organization's title. I haven't added additional words/phrases to look for yet, but it allows for that. The email updates are pretty straightforward and easy to scan since it includes what platform the mention was made on (Facebook post, website title, etc), the date and time, and sometimes even an associated image.
What do you dislike about the product?
I usually have to click through the email to "view more results" when it'd be a time saver to just see them all in my inbox, but not a big deal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We previously just used Google Analytics but knew that tons of mentions were slipping through the cracks. Meltwater picks up way more, and it finds mentions on social which is very helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
At least do the trial, you'll see if it picks up more than you were previously, and if it does, it's worth having. In this day and age, you need to know what people are saying about your organization online.

I like that we can see global coverage as well as segment by market, category, etc

I wish that I had more time to delve into more of the custom/advanced tools

It's been great at helping us get a handle on our global and regional brand presence. It's also helpful for viewing product categories and the competitive landscape as well as seeing social reach.
