Lots of options so can tailor to needs
What do you like best about the product?
Customer service is great! Very friendly and helpful. From the service itself, I get the primary benefit from the daily alerts. I also use their search option if I want to search for something in specific - keywords, etc. I like that you can set up a search to pull up stories with keywords in selected pubs only if you want. This helps drill results down to only the best and/or most applicable.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are many options to fill your dashboard with, but I don’t draw any meaningful information from pieces outside of a few of them. Some of them seem a little overkill, but I guess it depends on what people find valuable for their needs – the user controls what they see on their dashboards. I do find that because there are just so many things and many nuances, the software can be difficult to navigate. Luckily, our account rep is great and very helpful anytime I have questions, but I wish it was more intuitive so that I could easily take care of things myself.
Also, I pull coverage reports from Meltwater, but I’ve been disappointed that the platform doesn’t always pull all coverage. There are some (sometimes big ones) it misses and it's not clear as to why. Google alerts ends up telling me instead. Part of why we switched to Meltwater was to have a more robust and comprehensive tracking system for news stories (ideally to replace google alerts for the story tracking), but I still use google alerts as well.

Coverage tracking and keyword tracking to jump in on conversations and which reporters are talking about what.

The ease of sending out press releases and receiving analytics after sending, building lists, easily collecting press clips.

Would like to see more analytics/data sorting.

Sending out press releases, social monitoring, building and expanding our local and regional contacts.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you and your team are not using to its fullest potential then you can feel that its not worth the expense to have on your books.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building contact list, filing broadcast and press clippings, social engagement and monitoring.
Fast platform with a few bugs and a lack of customer service
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is extremely fast. You can find an influencer's contact information in under a minute. The dashboards are also easy to use for the most part.
What do you dislike about the product?
The service was often offline or would log me out suddenly. Also, needed some help with the boolean, but customer service was MIA.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater helps find a solution to quantifying the return on investment for the public relations industry through its media monitoring and reporting capabilities.

What do you like best about the product?
That MW can track all media hits and mentions in a simple to read format
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface could be cleaner and the program "smarter"

Keeping a pulse on the media reaction to my organization

Morning Report emails are extremely helpful, very easy-to-access and knowledgeable project management team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The newsletter option is not as robust as we would like, which is why we've not pursued that direction.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building our PR efforts, sharing more relevant articles for our industry, exploring other Meltwater options like social media integration to help our business.
Does the trick
What do you like best about the product?
Analytics culling has gotten much faster over the past year.
What do you dislike about the product?
Customer service is lackluster. I feel we're not using the tool to its full capacity because of this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need the analytics--we could be using for media database searching as well, but we like Cision better.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really do your due diligence in comparing Cision, Metlwater and Critical Mention when deciding on what will work best for your needs. Prices are all very different, but sometimes the better support is worth it. Critical Mention seems to have the best support, Cision has the best overall capabilities and is tied with PR Newswire. We are just sort of in limbo with Meltwater as we've had them for a while.

It is pretty difficult to narrow down key influencers

We used to have a staffer collect clips and now we can eliminate that role. Because Texas is such a big state, we couldn't possibly find all of our coverage and this allows us to not miss any of our earned media.

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater offers our organization the opportunity to gather information that's being reported about us and our industry. It's an excellent tool for researching and connecting with journalists while listening to audience engagement via social media.

Sometimes difficult to streamline and build specific media contact lists.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Strategic way to push out information, but also a great opportunity to listen and evaluate industry news and comments. Meltwater enables us stay on top of breaking information and relevant industry trends.
