Meltwater: Providing Clearer Vision
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has allowed us to see Internet postings that we did not see or know about before. This has enabled us to better engage with our community.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really don't have a negative for Meltwater. They have worked with me and provided excellent customer service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been able to engage with my community at a new level. This is a real positive in an ever-changing technological world.
Great PR Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is super easy to use and is a great resource to identify our graduates who are in the news/publications
What do you dislike about the product?
We find that Meltwater doesn't always pick up some of our graduate articles in the news. We end up missing out on some great content.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a great tool for PR purposes and for social to share our graduate successes.
Great Tool! Great Service! Pricing/contract negotiating is AGRAVATING!
What do you like best about the product?
The tool itself is robust and user friendly. It's easy to create pitch lists and to target reports. The analytics are helpful--who has opened, or not. The monitoring is strong too. The customer service is actually really good, and they are willing to train and retrain and are generally responsive. Price (once you can settle on--see comments below) is good.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing that stands out is the pricing/renegotiating the contract. The hard-sell in the beginning was a major turn off. I delayed going with the product for a while. Why do they have to sell it so hard? And all of the "deals"--sign by X date for premium pricing etc. SO aggravating. Pushing to re-up the contract by a certain date etc. It's not used cars! COME ON! No other vendor in this category operates like that. I just want to know: What is the price? Quit offering deals/specials/mark downs. And then once you are already a client, they pull the same song and dance. It is tiresome, and why the only reason I would not recommend them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to easily promote some events and products that we would have when we were paying/per release. I think we have a better sense of our clientele and what they are working on since we use the media monitoring to track when they appear in the press.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be firm on the pricing and tell them your honest feelings about the "hard sell" approach. It is a good product, so don't let the hard sell make you feel like they are selling you on something that isn't good.
A useful product
What do you like best about the product?
It was a very convenient way to discover media hits, especially if they are unexpected.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was an extremely expensive service, especially for the number of accounts we need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to compile media hits, both for editors and authors. This was an extremely easy way to do that.
Super helpful
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of finding articles. It's nice to be able to set up our Integrative Nutrition account with different mentions to log-in and find the articles I need. I don't use it for social as much as I could but it seems very easy as well to access social mentions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that I have to do some digging sometimes to find the best articles
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've realized that many of our graduates don't mention Integrative Nutrition.
Tracking media and ad value for PR efforts.
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the ease of tagging stories that I have either influenced or coordinated interviews for and then exporting a spread sheet to see reach and ad value for those stories. The influencers tab is useful as well, but is limited with individuals listed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not utilized the front page through my time using this product. There are certain functions like 'Top Sources' and sometimes 'Heat Map' that I will glance at, but the majority of the time I am immediately clicking on 'Search' and utilizing the 'Tag' function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not so much solving business problems, but having the ability to show my administrators/supervisors of the value of the PR that I am pushing out is very beneficial. Showing that PR is just as important as marketing/advertising is of great importance to me, and getting an ad value # is very helpful in this process.
Working with Meltwater in Publishing.
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has proven to be an effective clipping service in the publishing industry. Their tailored alerts have given me and my team the ability to focus more on securing media and less on the logistics of tracking our results. Before, we relied on Google results, which offered us little in the way of analytics. Meltwater's tools allow us to export analysis of results, particularly with websites, which allow us to better understand the significance of publicity we are receiving along the front lines of new media.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike, but the cost is a bit high. Meltwater is a worthy service, but it is certainly not inexpensive!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to keep track of publicity for 1,000 titles a year with only six publicists. Tracking our successes is crucial when it comes to determining print runs, reprint numbers, and boosting sales!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Considering offering shorter packages. It took us some time to convince our senior members to sign up for Meltwater due to the price and time commitment. We would have likely signed much more quickly if Meltwater had offered a six-month option.
Good product that needs refinement
What do you like best about the product?
Integration of news into our website; regular daily updates; easy creation of a newsletter
What do you dislike about the product?
Overbroad searches that, despite HOURS of trying to tailor the service, we can't get it right
I really don't like the new layout of the daily Morning Report. Hard to read, esp. on iphone

Easy to use and great to look at!
What do you like best about the product?
The clean design of the interface and the morning reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
At first it was a bit difficult to transition and find my way around but after one introduction it was very intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am responsible for monitoring news that my business is mentioned in as well as checking to see if our trade publications are printing our releases.
Amazing. Our Meltwater rep is knowledge and helpful and truly is making Meltwater the best ROI
What do you like best about the product?
Personal, real life team helping you along the way. When we have questions Haley answers immediately, and gives us great feedback on how to better maximise our ROI on our next campaign. The Beats feature - helping us curate who to target and ensure its up to date is really helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how some editors leave a company but I am first to respond as I get bouncebacks etc. I then have to relay this information to the Meltwater team in which they then take them off the list - but I have to create a new search to find the new editor at said title. Its a bit more work on my end as my list gets smaller, yet I have to be the one to go out and figure out who replaced or wait till Meltwater does after I tell them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PR - helping us to ensure our pitches are going to the right people and getting maximum open rates and conversation around our pitch.
We realize that we are getting more inclusions, we can follow up on PR pitches on those who opened but didnt respond. Also tracking, we are noticing inclusions on items we didnt even know we are listed in (mainly online).
