Comprehensive All-in-One Project Management with SpiraPlan

What do you like best about the product?
I have used SpiraPlan for managing my freelance projects and it has been one of the most comprehensive tools I have come across. What I liked most is that everything from task management, bug tracking, requirements and project planning is available in one place, so I never had to switch between multiple tools. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, setting up projects and assigning tasks was very straightforward. Real time tracking helped me stay on top of progress and deadlines without any confusion. The Gantt chart and Kanban board views made planning and monitoring much more visual and organized. It also integrates well with other tools which made my overall workflow much smoother.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is a bit steep when you first get started, especially for someone who is new to ALM tools. It took me some time to get comfortable with all the features and navigation. Also the performance felt a bit slow at times when working with larger projects with many tasks and requirements, which could get a little frustrating during busy working sessions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before SpiraPlan, managing multiple freelance projects meant juggling different tools for tasks, bugs and requirements which was time consuming and confusing. SpiraPlan brought everything under one roof and made it much easier to track progress, manage deadlines and stay organized. It saved me a lot of time, reduced confusion and helped me deliver my freelance projects in a more structured and professional way.

Clean, Simple UI with Strong Collaboration and Tracking
Reviewed on Apr 13, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Clean, simple UI with an easy setup process. I like the pay-by-active-use pricing model, and the collaboration and tracking features feel strong. Overall, it provides comprehensive support for decision-making.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’ve run into occasional performance and slowness issues. The workflow configuration isn’t always intuitive, and there are some limitations when it comes to customization. Also, the list views can feel cramped, which makes it harder to scan and work through items comfortably.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SpiraPlan brings our Agile planning, test management, and ALM together in a single platform, addressing our previously fragmented tooling and weak traceability. It gives us end-to-end visibility from business requirements through to Databricks pipeline deployments, helping cut delivery cycles by ~20% and supporting audit-ready compliance across our data engineering projects.

Centralizes Development with Strong Traceability
Reviewed on Apr 10, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I primarily use SpiraPlan as a unified platform for managing the full software development lifecycle, and I appreciate how it acts as the central source of truth across multiple teams. I use it to define and structure requirements hierarchically, map them to test cases, and ensure traceability through to defects and releases. This is valuable for complex or client-facing projects where auditability and clarity are critical. SpiraPlan also helps me coordinate between development, QA, and stakeholders without relying on multiple disconnected tools. The built-in test management and automation integration are particularly useful for maintaining quality at scale. I like how the platform reduces fragmentation in the development process and maintains a tight feedback loop between planning, execution, and validation. I really appreciate SpiraPlan’s ability to unify the entire development lifecycle in a single, structured platform without feeling overly heavy. The traceability feature is standout, allowing for direct linkages of requirements to test coverage and defects, providing full visibility, which makes debugging and client reporting efficient. I also appreciate the balance between usability and depth; the interface is straightforward for quick onboarding but also supports complex workflows as needed. I find its support for collaboration excellent, providing a shared structure for developers, QA, and stakeholders, reducing miscommunication and keeping everyone aligned. Overall, SpiraPlan maintains order in what could otherwise be a fragmented and inefficient development process.
What do you dislike about the product?
While SpiraPlan is a solid, well-rounded platform, there are a few areas where it could be improved from a practical, day-to-day engineering perspective. One limitation is workflow flexibility. Real-world projects—especially agile or hybrid ones—are rarely linear, but some parts of SpiraPlan still feel structured around more rigid flows. Customizing workflows to match iterative development cycles could be smoother and more intuitive. The user interface, although functional, can feel a bit dated in places. When working long hours inside the tool, small UX frictions—like navigation depth or extra clicks—start to add up. A more modern, streamlined UI would improve efficiency significantly. Performance at scale is another area to watch. As projects grow in size with many artifacts (requirements, test cases, incidents), certain operations can feel slightly slower than expected. It’s not a blocker, but noticeable during heavy usage. Additionally, while it covers many areas, integrations and automation could be more seamless. Setting up connections with external tools or CI/CD pipelines sometimes requires extra effort compared to more developer-centric platforms. Overall, these aren’t deal-breakers, but addressing them would elevate SpiraPlan from a strong tool to an exceptional one for high-performance, modern development environments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use SpiraPlan to manage the entire software development lifecycle, reducing tool fragmentation and enhancing traceability from requirements to defects. It aligns distributed teams and eliminates spreadsheet dependencies, ensuring clear, audit-ready workflows beyond isolated projects.

Unified Platform for Development and Testing
Reviewed on Mar 10, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate how SpiraPlan connects everything together, with requirements, tasks, test cases, and bugs all in the same system. It makes linking them pretty simple and provides useful traceability. If a test fails or a defect shows up, I can usually trace it back to the original requirement quickly. This saves a surprising amount of time compared to digging through different tools or documents. I also genuinely like the team planning and visibility it offers. The backlog views, sprint planning tools, and dashboards make it easier to understand what everyone’s working on and keep track of our progress. Before a release, it’s really helpful to see testing progress, open defects, and completed tasks all in one place, making everything clearer and less chaotic. Additionally, integrating SpiraPlan with tools like GitHub and Jenkins keeps development work tied closely to the planning side, enhancing visibility during busy release periods.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that hasn’t always felt completely smooth for me in SpiraPlan is the interface and navigation. It’s definitely powerful, no question there, but sometimes it feels a bit dense when you’re moving between areas like requirements, tasks, and testing. Every now and then I end up clicking through a few different screens just to find a specific item or setting. It’s not something that really blocks the work, but the experience could feel a bit more modern and streamlined. I remember a couple of teammates saying the same thing when they first started using it. Another area that could probably be improved is reporting and customization. The built-in reports do provide useful information, but creating very specific or tailored reports can take more effort than you’d expect. Sometimes I just want a quick snapshot of testing progress or sprint performance without having to tweak a bunch of filters and settings. A little more flexibility and simpler customization would make that whole process smoother. It’s not a major issue in day-to-day work, but improving it would definitely make the overall experience feel more polished.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use SpiraPlan to organize development and testing work, keeping everything in one system. It connects requirements, tasks, and test cases, improving visibility and coordination. This traceability saves time and reduces confusion when managing complex workflows.

The Best Tool for Product Management and Testing

What do you like best about the product?
This is the best tool I have found for both product management and testing.
What do you dislike about the product?
At first, I found it quite difficult to use, but after going through a few tutorials, I became more comfortable with it. The software is definitely very complex.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a centralized location to store all our data and resources for product testing has been invaluable. We are currently testing an AI app designed to scan for eye diseases, which involves managing a significant amount of data, conducting various tests, and ensuring privacy functions are in place. It can be challenging to find a single platform that covers all these needs in detail, but SpiraPlan do just that.
