Spira is an organized, streamlined and extremely helpful tool for our projects
What do you like best about the product?
The most valuable part of the Spira tool is how it associates artifacts with each other and provides high visibility and tracking. You can have releases, requirements, test cases, test case runs, incidents and documents all associated to each other, allowing quick access to any related items. This makes it significantly easier for users to find what they are looking for, especially those who might be new to the tool and are learning.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some limitations to the amount you can customize the tool, though that does not necessarily mean it is a point of concern. We can mostly work within the confines of the tool or redefine what already exists to our benefit. There are even times when Inflectra's support team can help with customization that we cannot do at a user level. While I feel the level of customization can improve, it is not a concern that would dissuade me from recommending this tool to groups that are looking for a new program.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary issues we had were in relation to the association of artifacts. By using Spira, we are now able to have a multi-level association between each of the artifacts in a project, giving a much easier route for reporting and high level overviews.
SpiraPlan, a complete Application Lifecycle Management tool
What do you like best about the product?
Requirements, releases, test cases, test results, tasks, bugs/issue tracking all in one spot.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price has increased over the years which can be expected as the tool has progressed (new functionality) but it is something to be aware of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As our team grew larger, we needed a single source for tracking our product from start to finish in the application lifecycle. For us, SpiraPlan provided that answer.
Such a good toolset, I have used it in multiple companies
What do you like best about the product?
Comprehensive toolset covers everything that is needed for requirement and test case management. Combined with Taravault, or other supported git providers, it allows a one stop shop for almost my entire SDLC process.
What do you dislike about the product?
It isn't as prevalent as alternatives like Jira, so sometimes integration with other tools/systems is harder, requires workarounds, or just not possible. This increases the amount of manual work or for you to 'roll your own' solution to the problem
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows for my requirements, test cases and reporting on the projects to all be done from the same system. This allows for a more unified view of the SDLC process, thereby increasing efficiency and efficacy.
Comprehensive SDLC with ability to control updates
What do you like best about the product?
Covers entire testing SDLC. Has a good structure and can be used in regulated industries. I need to be able to version items, find an audit trail and be sure that the items being shown have not been altered since they were approved and signed off. Can add and configure fields as required to the various objects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Workflow configuration is not intuitive. It was a lot of work to set up. Once there it was okay. Some lists are a little cramped. It gives the impression of total flexibility; some things cannot be changed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized test reporting and repository. Electronic signoffs recorded. For clients in the regulated sector it is critical that they know who, when and what version was signed off. This is needed for audit and safety purposes.
Full portfolio management tool for agile development
What do you like best about the product?
SpiraPlan helps to perform real agile software development throughout the company by adressing every aspect that is necessary to deliver applications early with good quality.
It supports users of any role and not only the core IT people. Business people and product owners are guided by the tool by personalised views, boards and workflows, so any stakeholder gets those control to the project that reflects the needs of his role.
SpiraPlan combines functions that are normally spread over several tools. This makes portfolio management and application development easier and resuls are early visible and more true.
However, SpiraPlan can sychronise with the usual suspects of development tools that are already used. You can migrate existing projects once or just synch the data with Spira and keep working with the old tools, just consolidating projects within Spira to get overall planning insights.
Spira has a strong collaboration flavor so it helps to get and hold every necessary information with the tool. No Excel sheets any longer, sent in numerous versions by e-mail, forgotten on network drives or in sharepoint.
Spira can support oldfashioned waterfall work stiles and agile app development and combines the different kinds of projects into one tool to get overall control and information.

What do you dislike about the product?
When defining templates for the reports you normally copy an existing template and enhance it to your own needs. You tend to leave unused intermediate templates in the system. You need to find your own way of housekeeping or unused old versions of report templates stay there forever.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Spira helps to become an active player in the digital transformation. Applications are no longer the support of your core business but the driver of your business. With Spira you can actively control the direction to proceed in a fast moving market. Any app can be quickly changed and delivered but keeps the software quality and data integrity needed for the core business.
