Zabbix in workplace
What do you like best about the product?
it’s good for monitoring workstations of everyone in the company
What do you dislike about the product?
have to go and individually install on every workstation
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
You are able to monitor all workstations without having to leave your own workstation

What do you like best about the product?
It helps to improve the business process outcome as it monitor everything on the system like CPU load Disk space,which helps in easy functioning of the system

The UI is not really attractive. The program also reports problem that are not such in fact

Product functionality and performance reduce man work, as it itself see all the work on system

What do you like best about the product?
1.- It's Open Source, that means if you do not like something ... you change it. You do not have a company behind telling you what improvements you need, if you need them, you develop them and you already have them.
2.- The Zabbix team is really good, and I say it because I have seen how Nagios, cacti and other projects fall into oblivion and do not evolve because they are projects without a company behind them. Did not you say it was OpenSource? Yes. It is OpenSource but you have a company that if you need support, offers it to you at prices ... of laughter, compared to any other tool I can say that it is between 80% and 90% cheaper.
3.- The zabbix community, in forums, blogs and others is really active, it is a good project and people need this type of tools in their companies because of the low cost and how they behave in large environments.

What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like much the graphical part of the graphics that it provides, if they could improve the attractiveness of the same ones it would be excellent because they can be used for delivery of executive reports, normally I use the data and I pass them to my own graphics to be able to present them

tenia un software que monitoreaba pero no realizaba esta tarea tan bien como zabbix , por lo que pude mejorar el departamento de monitoreo con esta herramienta permitiendome monitorear muchas mas cosas que la otra.

De un simple vistazo puedes ver fácilmente los traps que te envía los servidores configurados o máquinas según se configure por los admón de la red.

tiene quizás excesivas pestañas que deberían de poderse resumir en una vista más simple para no liar con su interfaz de admón.

Nos permite tener monitorizado estado de servidores de toda la empresa detectando fácilmente problemas en caso de haberlos.

Lo mejor de Zabbix en mi experiencia es que tiene un reportes muy detallados obteniendo graficas en diferentes formatos de toda la información acerca del estado de la red y de los hosts que se crean oportunos.
Soporta un gran número de plataformas (Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Free BSD, Open BSD, OS X, Tru64/OSF1, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista).
Reside en su interface web soportado por una base de datos SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL o SQLite).
Posee un sistema proactivo que permite solucionar automáticamente los problemas, un sistema de monitorización, alertas y visualización de gráficos que no tienen otros sistemas de monitorización.
Es de código abierto

Lo peor que tiene Zabbix en mi opinión es que es de uso muy complejo.
Los manuales de usuario son muy extensos lo que hace desistir a muchos usuarios de utilizarlo.

Puedes monitorizar en tiempo real Servidores de aplicaciones, para saber el estado de ellos al momento, y ver historiales de incidencias o de cargas
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A usuarios sin experiencia en este tipo de Software no se lo recomendaria, ya que es un software bastente complejo y lleva un tiempo hacerse con el, de lo contrario a gente con experiencia si que lo recomendaria, ya que es bastante potente

It is very complete and flexible
Excellent alerting and monitoring platform - very flexible and powerful
What do you like best about the product?
Zabbix is very flexible and thus powerful. It can be customized in many different ways and supports a great deal of systems/sensors. We use it to monitor and alert on software/hardware/events/conditions/health status across hundreds of servers, hundreds of sites, thousands of workstations and thousands of network devices. The ability to configure the system in your specific way instead of being forced to do it how the vendor wants you to use the system is its main benefit.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be somewhat complex to configure and use, especially for those new to it or those who use it infrequently. It takes some skill to navigate to the right screen/page for actions/status items that you may need. It's data presentation can also be very overwhelming or not very easy to digest in a glance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We monitor a lot of mission critical software and hardware across 80 organization. Zabbix alerts us on any out of norm conditions or problems. This way we know about a problem often before our clients do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need powerful and flexible monitoring and alerting solution - then try Zabbix, but keep in mind that it is not very intuitive and can be complicated to setup. It can do a lot for technology based organizations or those that have very significant IT infrastructure. Role based permissions and actions help limit tasks that employees can do within the software.

Es una excelente herramienta para monitorizar casi todo tipo de sistemas. Monitoriza todo tipo de variables y puedes obtener mucha información sobre sistemas.

Es difícil de configurar y añadir dispositivos, se requieren altos conocimientos en sistemas y en la herramienta, pero una vez configurado funciona perfectamente.

Solución para la monitorización de redes y sistemas.

Se necesitan conocimientos del producto y de sistemas para la puesta en marcha, por lo demás es una excelente herramienta
Versatile and Simple
What do you like best about the product?
The most important thing about this tool is its versatility since it can be a powerful tool for the monitor of any platform. In a single tool allows the monitoring of IT and TELCO. It allows to project events in real time and to graph them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only point to improve would be the graphics. Having more options that visually is more pleasant for the end user serial ideal.

En la zona de monitoreo siempre se han utilizado varias aplicaciones para poder tener control de toda la red, con esta aplicación que puede hacer todo unificado, tenemos la aplicación que soluciona los temas desde técnicos hasta económicos, que es libre y permite que cada empresa adaptarla a sus necesidades.
