Instana is an easy to use APM tool, where its price corresponds good to the functionality

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use
low price, e.g. compared to Dynatrace
structured desktop
more or less all needed functionality is available to monitor also business critical applications
The support organisation helps out fast if we have questions
What do you dislike about the product?
Some functionality, as with Dynatrace Pure Paths, are unavailable, and the developers often complain about that. Instana seems incapable of working with the mass of data when digging deep into the code level.
Additionally, feature requests might be opened, but the voting for these seems to hinder that it will be worked on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Instana to monitor our business-critical JEE application, used around the world by around 3,000 users in 24/7 mode. Besides production monitoring, we use Instana to check the performance and NFRs in our non-functional test environment, like with peak load tests. With this, we already found issues in the trials and were able to solve production issues quickly or even solved them before they arrived at the user level.

What do you like best about the product?
Always willing to help when an outage or issue is experienced.
Love the monitoring functionality across various technologies, stacks and teams within the organisation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't say that I have too many complaints, however, support turnaround can be quicker, by no means am I saying you do not get support. If more constant updates are provided, at least we can advise internal teams on timelines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have full environment monitoring which helps operational uptime and high availability.
This also allows for a range of live environment tracking to ensure overall functionality.

What do you like best about the product?
The details for each request with all sub-requests for services were a savior for a developer, Which enables us to identify the actual request which is causing load on the server.
What do you dislike about the product?
The current UI is outstanding and has more proper details but sometimes the time filter was not working properly with other filters, just want to improve that part.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instana helps to determine the load on servers based on traffic and helps to debug issues on a server with complete details of the request and makes it easy to debug and find the root cause for any issue on the server.

Instana - The Go To Tool

What do you like best about the product?
Instana brings us the status of the entire architecture on one screen. Gone are the days we had to log into the server box and check the java process, heap space, garbage collection stats, or whatever. We got to remember that all these require some additional settings too. But now, for us in our organisation, the entire responsibility is owned by Instana. Forgot to mention this has API monitoring too. There are many more advantages of using this tool, which helps us debug live customer issues and ensure system stability.
What do you dislike about the product?
When we have multiple docker containers in one server, sometimes I find it challenging to go down and trace a particular node from that set. Probably an even more user friendly zoom-in and click-through will be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As said above, monitoring and tracing back is absolutely made simple with the help of Instana. Instana reaps us a lot of developer productivity and enables a quicker turn around time for our customers.

What do you like best about the product?
Very intuitive UI ensures productivity from day one. It offers a very easy way to drill down to the details of API calls from a higher-level view.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be better in some cases if it could help capture network traffic or API requests/responses for error diagnosis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
System monitoring. Issue identification and analysis. It saves a lot of time for the development team by bringing the team close to the core problem area.

What do you like best about the product?
When we were looking for a solution,almost all pricing models in the market were complex and scary. Some asked for huge payments in front, some had too many variables. Instana has a very simple and predictable pricing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up the agents and alerts are easy but a step by step guide for the interface would be great. We needed to spend some time to get used to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are monitoring our apps, the infrastrusture and resources effectively. We are informed about the potential issues and incidents. It is good to be aware of the problems and bottleneck before your clients.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy access to throughput, latencies, errors etc. Great visual representations via graphs and an excellent drill-down mechanism to debug erroneous calls and slow transactions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Analyse calls feature could be made more user-friendly. Apart from this, everything else is just awesome. I have tried other APMs like new relic and app dynamics, but instana stands out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instana is a great APM. It helps me track my services, evaluate their performance and work on making them better. It's easy to integrate with any production-ready application.

What do you like best about the product?
The dashboards are easy to understand and navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve, and the amount of information can be overwhelming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives us the ability to monitor and observe our software applications. This benefits us in understanding what is working and what is not, and where there is room for improvement.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to deploy, automatic discovery, automatic correlation and context guide. Also the smart alerts and analytical capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of logging analytics (yet). lack of the ability to ingest metrics directly from OTEL sources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps to find what things did change and how they are affecting our service levels. Quickly pinpoints root cause. Analytics help to optimize code and detect bottlenecks.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease with which I am able to trace issues through our stack. I find a new problem and can track the request as it goes through our services and locate the ultimate source. I also enjoy the ability to customize the traces.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using instana for frontend issues hasn't been quite as useful. Love it for backend stuff.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Insight and debugging. We know when we have issues and we know more quickly how to resolve them.
