Jira is good for Software Project Management

  • June 08, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is customizable and easy to use. It is good for tracking progress, and the visualization of data is good too. Also, it is good to use for any project size. Either for a small or a large product management.
What do you dislike about the product?
The linking and subtasks can't be moved to another sprint if the parent ticket is closed. it would be nice if it can be moved without breaking heritage. This would be a good to have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project Management is quite difficult for big projects. With Jira, we were able to produce quality products since we were able to plan and track our progress efficiently.

What do you like best about the product?
With JIRA, the possibilities are endless. The intuitive and customizable user interface makes work easier and allows teams to tailor the software to their needs and ways of working. JIRA covers all important aspects of project planning and execution, from user story creation and task assignment to issue tracking and release management.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve can be steep for some users who are not familiar with the agile methodology. Advanced customizations may require more time to understand all available options and take full advantage of them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA has solved the problem of managing complex projects with multiple steps and dependencies. JIRA's functionality in the form of flow charts and Kanban boards allows a clear and detailed visualization of the project structure and facilitates the identification of bottlenecks, efficient resource allocation and effective scheduling.

Jira is a no-brainer to embrace real collaboration

  • June 07, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a mid-sized company agile product manager, I can confidently attest that Jira is a no-brainer when embracing real collaboration within your teams. Jira offers various features that streamline collaboration, enhance productivity, and drive successful project outcomes. We transitioned from a hybrid work methodology (half waterfall / half agile) into a full agile during the pandemic, and this wouldn't be possible without Jira.

I think the most powerful features are the agile boards, which visually represent the project's progress, making it easy to identify bottlenecks and adjust priorities accordingly with the team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only feature I wish Jira had is the ability to create complex roadmaps to map the big picture of a project. Right now, the roadmap functionality is basic, and we need to make our big roadmaps outside Jira. I know Jira has
some Roadmap add-ons, but there are not so good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira helps us streamline our team process under a single SOURCE OF TRUTH, so everyone is on the same path before, during, and after the sprint. Before using Jira, we struggled with the Developer > QA flow, and now we have gained much more transparency and efficiency.
The ability to create templates for the different types of tickets (Bugs,User Stories and Epics) Allow us to standarize the ticketing process across the whole company.

Great for work in data analytics and management

  • June 07, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing possible about jira is the interface it provides for easier access to work related data and links for the same. Its easier to track the status of work done and remaining as well as to manage time while completion of project. It helps in reducing or managing time spent on project well.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it is easy to work with once familiar , at first initial uses it can be a bit difficult for users to navigate through it. A small onboarding or tutorial/tips for the user can be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira makes sure i have the idea about my work progress. It also manages which work is assigned and when to complete it.its tracking process helps in improving the time taken , performance etc taken for the work to finish.
It helps in better performance, time management and organization of work.

A great platform for cross-functional teams except for design

  • June 06, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's extremely cross-functional, HOWEVER, not for design because design work has a different pace than development and upon sprint reviews, it appears as if design is slowing down the team overall. We generally don't even have design on the boards anymore because of this.
I do love the new dark mode update, the fact you have write pages to introduce teams and ideas, and collect information.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like I wrote in the last paragraph, there is no way to my or my team's knowledge to add the design tickets during a sprint without messing up the sprint review/points.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps to solve many of the product bugs throughout a sprint without badly effecting the team's workflow, it helps keep things organized and flowing, and I find it to be helpful to know where teammates are at.

Empowering Project Management and Collaboration

  • June 05, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Powerful project management capabilities: Jira excels in providing robust project management features. It offers a comprehensive set of tools for task tracking, issue management, and project planning. The ability to create and organize tasks, set priorities, assign team members, and track progress ensures that projects stay on schedule and are executed efficiently.

Agile-friendly workflows: Jira is highly adaptable to agile methodologies, making it an invaluable tool for software development teams. It supports Scrum, Kanban, and other agile frameworks, allowing teams to visualize and manage their work using boards, backlogs, and sprints. This flexibility fosters collaboration, promotes transparency, and enhances productivity within agile teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
for new users. Navigating the interface, configuring projects, and understanding the terminology may take some time. However, once users become familiar with the tool, its capabilities prove invaluable for efficient project management.

Complexity for non-technical teams: While Jira excels in supporting software development teams, it may feel overwhelming for non-technical teams or those managing non-software projects. The tool's terminology and default settings are geared towards software development, which might require additional customization and training for teams in other industries.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamlined Project Management: Jira effectively solves the challenge of managing complex projects by providing a centralized platform for task tracking, issue management, and project planning. With Jira, I can create and organize tasks, assign them to team members, set priorities, and track progress in a structured and organized manner. This streamlined approach ensures that everyone is on the same page, tasks are completed on time, and project goals are achieved efficiently.

Enhanced Team Collaboration: Jira's collaborative features significantly improve teamwork and communication within my team. It allows us to share information, collaborate on tasks, and provide real-time updates on project status. The ability to comment, mention team members, and attach files directly to tasks facilitates effective communication, fosters collaboration, and ensures that everyone has access to the necessary information, resulting in improved productivity and efficiency.

Useful automations and custom fields for tasks, but can be tedious to create or reorganize tasks

  • June 03, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Formatting options allow us to present task details and follow-up comments in a readable format. Easy to see which epic or initiative tasks belong to. Can have multiple statuses to indicate that a task no longer needs work, e.g. "Done", "Canceled", "Deployed".
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't find an easy way to manually re-order tasks. Projects are only visible in board view (no list view), so dragging and dropping cards within columns is tedious. There are keyboard shortcuts to move a card to the top or bottom of a column, but you have to click and hold a card with one hand, then use the other to press the keys. Those keyboard shortcuts also cause the board to become unresponsive sometimes, forcing me to refresh the page. Other software makes it easier to not only reorder via drag and drop within the same column but also select and drag multiple tasks at the same time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira helps me stay in the loop with product managers and engineers. I can see if they need me to provide task updates or feedback, either through comments or the status that a task is moved to. Stories make it easy to group related design, engineering, and analytics tasks together - such as designs to create, designs/error handling to implement, and tracking to add for a specific feature.
