It's complicated

What do you like best about the product?
Jira has a ton of customizable options (which is a double-edged sword sometimes) and most of the time you can make it do what you need. It also means it's flexible enough to work for a variety of teams and their unique workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not what I would describe as a "smooth", easy to learn tool for project management. Often it just feels clunky and old-school. It's like it was designed to fit too many situations and, consequently, fits none of them well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coordinating work in and between teams. The main benefit is just being able to plan work together and keep management in the loop about our progress.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Know that you're getting a powerful, flexible solution, but those things come with a learning curve for staff. Jira Cloud may be more advanced (I don't know first-hand, since we use Server).

The Best Project Management Tool for Software Development Life Cycle

  • July 15, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The upsides of using JIRA is that it lets you implement the SCRUM methodologies and categorize work by Dev and QA members. Releases. Currently, we are able to manage several projects simultaneously. I also have filters to include the story assigned per QA member. And I can save each filter and name it with the user of each QA member.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, this is the best Software Management tool I've used in my career. Sometimes, JIRA is not letting me add screenshot attachments to the comments. This only happens sporadically, usually refreshing the browser fixes it. But sometimes, I have an extensive comment already written up, and refreshing the page will make me lose my comment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
QA Testing new features, reading and understanding requirements, adding attachments to Comments. Have separate Projects, Releases, and Tasks. With JIRA, I can choose the items from the Backlog and assign them to the current Sprint. Every sprint is customizable, and you can set the iteration to be two weeks or three weeks. Another feature that I like is that I can create my labels and dropdown menus depending on the project I'm working on.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Most Software companies already use JIRA. But if you're not. I highly recommend using this for the Software Development Life Cycle. You can use it for SCRUM methodologies, Waterfall, and Kanban methodolgies. JIRA will help you track your stories and bugs for the current release and future items. The backlog can be easily groomed. Each label can be customized for your needs since every project will have different things to track. You can configure the JIRA's story to be blocked by subtasks, these subtasks can be named as Defects or Bugs.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can Manage , track and add execution all in one Place. The best part about this tool is that they allow you to have a free trial period, where in you can check out its basic features and descide on if you want to purchase the liscences or not. Also it is cost efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much in this tool to dislike. But it has a lot of bugs. At times with their releases, some features stop working.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
During the standup meetings with the team, we can enable the dashboards and glace at the team's progress on a release in one go. Also, we can check for blockers or any other red flags that can be a risk for the release from creating the dashboards using JQL's.
