Extremely extensible and thorough

  • November 10, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira provides a ton of flexibility and workflow frameworks to help your teams take the guessing work out of their processes. You can set up guardrails and appropriate next actions based on the current step you are on. And it allows for transferring ownership and responsibility depending on which step you are in with the workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many of the features are spread all over, so it can feel like you are piecing together a large number of solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing development projects and safety reviews. We have been able to standardize our process and make it easily apparent what the next step typically is and what the available steps are at hand.

Industry standard for collaborative software development processes

  • November 07, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it helps build traction in software development processes by consolidating all information required about requirements, status of work, reporting, digital assets and more to execute a software development process.

It also is very good about keeping everyone in the team accountable, by providing a base workflow that can be heavily customized to fit every project’s need.

Using JIRA over the past two years has helped our organization get to a point where progress of the projects are easy to measure and visualize and feedback for improvements can also be easily recognized.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don’t like the so called next-gen projects as much, because the name is a bit misleading. Those are actually simpler projects that don’t allow for much customization, however are great for keeping track of non-software development processes.

It can be a bit daunting at first, if unfamiliar with Agile methodologies, and there are a plethora of options to customize which doesn’t make it easier to start with.

In addition to the steep learning curve, it can get very costly quickly if not managed correctly, especially if using a lot of the marketplace add-ones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With JIRA I can keep track of all the necessary data points in our software development process, so that we can better understand improvement opportunities and blockers as well as how to properly reward good performances of the team. It also solves the issue about visibility of progress with customers.

JIRA is my savior and I don't know what I'd do without it!

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to collaborate with various teams from engineering to sales about various issues affecting our clients. The filters, custom personal views, statuses, priority management, commenting and tagging stakeholders, ease of assigning stakeholders and watchers, and linking other related or required tickets.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a bit of a learning curve at first compared to some other softwares I've used, but JIRA is still superior at the end of the day once you commit to learning the ins and out of it. It would be nice if the design of the platform was a bit cleaner, spacious and streamlined versus what they have now which is stale in color, compact, and busy. It would be nicer if tagging people, bolding text, etc. was a bit less "code like" and behind the scenes; there's no reason to show us asterisks when bolding something, just bold it immediately.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Transparency, accountability, SLAs, and collaboration across legal, sales, customer support, product, and engineering teams.

-Has everything needed to adhere to SAFe practices
-Makes it easy to keep work transparent to all stakeholders and participants
-Integrates seamlessly with other atlassian products such as confluence, bitbucket, Align
What do you dislike about the product?
-Seems to get clunkier and slower the more it is used (more projects, issues, etc.). It does not seem relevant whether we are using a cloud or local/on-prem install.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
-Project management
-Agile product management
-Increased team efficiency
-Better reporting
-Excellent progress visibility

Great interface for developers and operations teams alike!

  • November 05, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is feature rich yet still intuitive and easy to use. It has the ability to customize the workflows based upon project, enforce rules based upon your business (you can force a peer review, for example), and it is relatively straight forward to add customized options for additional data collection (what environment the case impacts, the release branch, etc). The API is powerful and we have used it with our automation, and we have used it to pull data down to do additional number crunching.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface keeps changing. It's painful. Once you get used to the flow of the UI, the Atlassian team changes it. Then they made it end-user customizable, so at the same organization, you can have two people sitting next to one another looking at the same case and their view could look completely differently. Makes it very hard to support.
While the configuration interface is slick, it has its quirks. Very often you have to try several different ways before you can get a workflow to behave in the way that you intended.
It does not take long before you start straining the user interface for the configurations. It can get complex quickly.
There is a lot to be said for the reporting side, especially when it comes to reporting on custom fields.
You get a lot more flexibility by hosting your own Jira instances, but that is extremely expensive compared to the hosted Jira.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking of all issues. Supporting our Agile Scrum and Kanban usage. Integration into the automation of our deployments. Reporting of the health of the teams, the capacity planning, the future planning. It is all there right out of the box.

Effective bug tracking tool

  • November 03, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira provides a user friendly interface. Customization as the organization need is also possible. Jira Software is used to capture & organize issues, assign work & track team activity. Really good for automating workflow progress can be tracked and follow-up can be made.
What do you dislike about the product?
The configuration is difficult. To assume a new user to get it done rightly is not possible. It's a great but expensive solution
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The task tracking and overall reporting are superb. If configured properly, nothing will be missed on any updates.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Cost effective analysis to be made before undertaking decision to purchase Jira Solution.
