Jira: A better way to do software project management
What do you like best about the product?
Jira from Atlassian is the best tool for me to do all the tasks related to the software development life cycle. "User stories", I guess it is the best feature to efficiently generate and manage tasks in ongoing development. Also, one of the best features for developers here is they don't need to manage heavy documentation; Jira has features to provide all documentation at the time of the development. Moreover, Jira provides the way to distribute active task among the team of developers and also, allow them to do their tasks with fewer dependencies; which improves the productivity overall and that is why it is my ultimate tool for project maintenance.
What do you dislike about the product?
In Jira, I have not encountered any major flaws until now; however, They can provide more customization options in order to improve task division.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jira as our primary tool for project maintenance and development tracks; also we use it for generating the documentation reports such as SRS, SPMP, Risk Plan etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jira is a tool which done a very good job when you have to handle a large project. It definitely needs to be adopted by any organization for better project management.
Jira is a bit clunky to use but has some good benefits
What do you like best about the product?
Helps keep team members accountable and projects organized
What do you dislike about the product?
User interface is not intuitive. Unable to reallocate ownership of events created by one team member. Difficult to get to past events and resurface
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping all ongoing projects organized (less low priority items are falling off the radar for example) teammembers are being held accountable and can track/balance workload across our team
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Training initially is important and the Kanban boards are a great feature.
Clean Easy to Use Project Tracking
What do you like best about the product?
The intuitive interface and vast functionality make Jira easy and helpful for most projects. Jira makes collaboration with teammates easy, as well as provides a central repository for ongoing projects and statuses of these projects. I have also never experienced any downtime or technical issues while using Jira. It is a reliable tool that performs exactly as expected.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jira takes a little bit of time to get used to in order to customize the settings in accordance with your needs. However, this is inherent with any software product and Jira certainly falls on the easier to customize side of the spectrum. Also, like any tool, it only works in as much as other individuals use it. Any features that would encourage and reward use of the tool would be beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Jira to track both technical and non-technical projects within my company. Jira helps to facilitate collaboration by highlighting what phase each project is in, providing an easy to comprehend summary of what has been done so far on a project, and helpful notification functions to alert teammates when they are needed to add on to a project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would strongly advise evaluating Jira if you are looking for a tool to help with organization and communication across your workplace with both technical and non-technical projects. Jira is easy to use out of the box and allows for many degrees of customization.
Good project management software
What do you like best about the product?
1) the ability to show tasks by person, steam or stage
2) able to allocate sub tasks to projects and elements
3) the ability to log hours against projects
Jira is a great visual way to track project progress and is easy to use for non project managers.
Jira does have the facility to allow you to link it to MS project so you can build a project there and import / export between the two but this requires the correct MS Project access.

What do you dislike about the product?

2) lack of calendar representation to use in boards
2) lack of calendar representation to use in boards
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to be able to allocate elements of tasks to different people at different times to allow for work to be completed, reviewed and signed off in such a way that it was trackable and auditable.

Inability to click on links and have them open in a new tab by default. Sometimes this creates a frustrating flow where my team has to jump back and forth because they've accidentally directly clicked on a link and lost the original jira board with context / information about the task at hand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving UX issue tracking, feature design tracking, bug issues, and product design development across all of our digital product offerings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have a roll out plan for how you'll transition off your old tool. I recommend having a date where you're going to deprecate everything you've decided to work on in your previous platform. The initial on boarding might be a little painful at first, but this will quickly be overcome with the ease of use and an improved quality of life with your team's velocity, output and improved transparency of workflow.
