USER STORY CREATION IN JIRA

  • November 10, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like to assign user stories based on release and based on team. Individuals assigned to user story can get notified by email and they can update their tasks easily so overall accountability and measurability can be obtained.
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing much. Sometimes estimation vs actual time report can be tricky so overtimes can be adjusted by deleting logged hours
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
team status and release monitoring. For ex; Gantt chart for overall program is helping management to see load on different teams. They can measure productivity and utilization
Recommendations to others considering the product:
try to use plugins. For ex confluence gives more insights like development view and scheduling is easier and retrospective purposes confluence and Jira are really good

Jira for scrum settings

  • November 10, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira is used for maintaining backlog for different scrums, regular updates, whether a story is in progress, open or closed status, what's the update for everyday, the sprint length, the sprint highlights and all other details. It also provides a tagging facility that helps us to keep track when someone mentions an individual by sending a direct email.
What do you dislike about the product?
This being my first tool on scrum management, I do not have any comparison point. This looks good, overall satisfactory.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira software is used to manage scrum boards and while the organisation has its headquarter located in two different geographies separated by approximately 12 hours difference in time zone and little overlap between cross location teams, this tool provides the easiest solution so that everyone remains on the same page, everyone is able to post their updates, and has visibility to the current status of different stories. It's easy to create sprints, conduct sprint plannings and sprint reviews at the end of the sprint.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jira is a wonderful tool that helps us in terms of how scrums perform. It helps in sprint settings, maintain backlogs and move stories to different status, post updates for a story, tag individuals. It also has an extra feature where we can share files. I am not sure about other available tools for scrum management, but this tool is really good, and it solves all the check boxes required for this purpose.

Great for Tech Teams, Less Great for Others

  • November 10, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira is wonderful for agile tech teams. It integrates with all the other Atlassian software, like Confluence for documentation, plus connects with third-party software as well. You can set up KanBan boards, a backlog, etc. to organize your project management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jira is awesome for tech, but it's less great for other teams. For example, I'm a marketer and often need to schedule out assignments based on due date. While you can do this in Jira, it's not as easy to organize your tasks by due date as Jira is more intended for sprint work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
If you work at a tech company, Jira is great for project management for your agile sprint teams. It can also be great for everyone else in the company interacting with those agile tech teams.

organises your project management cross projects

  • November 10, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the usability of Jira. It keeps a good track of my personal and the team's workload. Jira has a clear layout, is intuitive and has a lot of features. You can organize your sprints easy with drag and drop. Also, each team member has his picture uploaded so it's easy to see who will do what. The best thing is that you can work across teams with different projects. There is also the possibility to integrate more features like confluence, which is a documentation tool. There you can also track all activities of the users and stay up to date. There are several reporting systems. As an admin, I can easily adjust the roles of all team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
despite the good usability the tool is very complex and it takes a while to understand it. Some features like clockwork include additional costs, even it does not work very well. Clockwork starts counting ones you have a task in progress. But it keeps counting the time until you drag it into the finish without any reminder. Also, we experienced once a bug while we were working across projects with
Next-gen software. But in general, it's ok.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking for software that manages not only our software development but also our marketing activities. Jira was here a very good solution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We use Jira in our marketing team but only because software development is also using Jira. So it makes sense to have a cross-company solution here to stay on track with the current development. However, if it would be just Marketing team we would probably would have looked for another solution that is more OKR driven.

Jira for managing complex projects

  • November 09, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to view and track the progress of projects. It's a quick and easy way to find out what stage a project is in and to make comments as necessary, which is also a great way to provide feedback and input into the process.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that Jira was designed to track complex projects makes Jira inherently complex to use. There is a vocabulary unique to Jira that can make first time, or infrequent, users intimidated and confused. However, once familiar with the terminology and the way it works, Jira can make tracking progress of projects much quicker and easier. With that said, I don't see how Jira can be less complex and still deliver in the way it was designed to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira has allowed us to designate tasks throughout our research and technology teams and gives us instant access to view the progress of these. It allows us a way to make comments and feedback and to track the evolution of development as well. This makes collaboration amongst a team of individuals much easier than ever before.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a means to track complex projects easily and efficiently, Jira offers a great solution.
