Jira for Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
An easy to follow project management interface that all levels could follow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing immediate stands out, some users prefered other tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management
Excellent web-based sprint planning tool
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to track updates, tag other users and manage our ticketing. We use it for contract exceptions as well as development tickets and it makes it easy to track the status and ensure that proper teams are notified. Able to implement with other systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Visual appeal can be improved. Some functionality on the reporting can be improved and make it a more prediction nature. Configuration can be a little challenging for none technical people. I have used it for more than 5 years and overall find it pretty easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for ticketing to our legal and finance teams as well as to our development teams. It creates plenty of flexibility in this way. Easy way to communicate between teams and using to identify trends. The tool provides rich features of capturing all possible attributes of a task in a project and provide the analytics on the burn and velocity of a sprint for a given team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent sprint planning tool helping create current and future sprint via epic story and tasks. Good change request tracking and reporting tool. Tight integration with code configuration as well.
Strong in project management
What do you like best about the product?
As a Product manager, I like that prioritizing is as easy as dragging and dropping, that I can do that with multiple tickets and that I can organize my epics easily and at a high level using the roadmap.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do wish when you moved the epics in your roadmap, that the tickets would update their dates respectively based on the time you moved it. I also wish there was a way to surface deadlines, although I think there is and I'm just missing it.
Also I wish the UI was easier on the eyes and a little more user friendly
Also I wish the UI was easier on the eyes and a little more user friendly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeps our work in line, and I'm a big fan of the various reporting on sprints. It's helps me track my teams progress and ensure we're sticking on our planned vs actual.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for organizing dev team's, lacking a bit in the project/product management UI and features
Easy management and visibility into current and past work
What do you like best about the product?
The best feature I think is the ability to see analytics for tasks done over time to answer questions like: is our velocity increasing? Which team is getting the most points done? Etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some missing features that need to be addressed. For example when my sprint ends and we have some partial work done with subtasks, we should be able to claim partial credit for that sprint but it’s all or nothing...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira has kept us on track; we use it for organizing 2 week sprints of tasks each with an assigned point value. We’ve seen a remarkable boost in visibility in what’s going on in our teams and a steady increase in work performance over time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jira is the industry standard for maintaining and monitoring tasks in teams, if you haven’t used it yet I highly recommend you start today!
Great project and task management tool
What do you like best about the product?
Great tool to collaborate and track the teams progress in the project.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some navigation and certain features seem to be inconvenient or hard to find
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stakeholders communication, managing the team, project management, cross functional collaboration
Powerful, but not always Intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
Jira’s strength is in its high level of flexibility to different Agile methodologies, and integration with an incredible number of services — such as GitHub, with which it can automatically track commits and PRs related to open issues. I also find Jira’s Kanban implementation one of the best that I’ve used.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jira’s interface can be inconsistent in places and seem outdated, which can make certain actions confusing or difficult to find - actions as simple as creating a new issue. As such, the learning curve is higher than competitors such as Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Compared to competitors, Jira is more flexible and makes tracking issues, escalating them into Epics or stories with sub-issues easy, but some features are seem not fully fleshed out from a UX standpoint.
Good tasks/performance monitoring tool
What do you like best about the product?
Can update and keep track of daily tasks for projects in an organised manner
What do you dislike about the product?
Dependencies on admins for stories creation
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Facilitates proper management of official work and tracks progress for everything with ease
Feature rich project management software
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to create different types of jira's like Story, Defect, Release, Epic, Spike, Support Request etc.. which allows effective segregation of project based on type of tasks/work involved. Jira's can be assigned to different people which allows effective allocation of project to people in the team. At a higher level, project managers can group all the project work in epics which simplifies the task of tracking the progress of a project at hand. Dashboards can be created which allows tracking the work allocated in a particular span of time (in agile world.. iterations). Tasks can be shuffled based on priorities. The dashboards can be designed to allow tracking work on a particular task. The entire lifecycle of a project/jira can be configured as well. JQL is a powerful querying language which allows tracking work done as far as few years based on a variety of criteria. Sky is the limit with what can be done with jira. Definitely a must use and recommendation by me.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing specific to dislike. Could use some improvements when dealing with multiple people editing the same jira description at the same time and overwriting each others changes. The previous changes can be retrieved by looking at history though so it is not a defect as such.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With jira, our team was effectively able to break down large projects into small epics and further break down the tasks for each epics into individual jira's. The smallest of tasks were able to be scheduled into different iterations (15 days) per agile planning. This has helped the project managers effectively plan the roadmaps and commit on the deliverables with more conference.
A powerful tool for guaranteeing tracebility
What do you like best about the product?
Jira is one of the most powerful tool for guaranteeing tracebility for your software development process.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you have to create more tickets for similar things it doesn't include a fast compilation feature
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's one of the most powerful tools and he helps you to estimate all the phases of software development from analysis to testing
A complicated way to decomplicate things
What do you like best about the product?
Jira is a very comprehensive tool for designing the workflow in teams. Every employee has access and can be responsible for his own processes. Supervisors can create issues for their employees.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that Jira is so extensive it is very confusing. It takes a lot of training to get Jira really effective. Not every employee gets along well with the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Jira, the organization of work processes and sprints in teams becomes clear and predictable. Everyone knows what he has to do and can complete the tasks.
