Perfect way to keep track of software enhancements, features, bugs, suggestions among dev team

  • January 27, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
If you set it up correctly, it can go a long way into organizing and maintaining a backlog/icebox tasks for use in software development methodologies.
What do you dislike about the product?
If not organized/used correctly, can be confusing, especially for small teams. I've seen it in use by both small and bigger teams and without the guidance and because of its abundance of features it definitely could not be that organized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing and tracking software development tasks. Benefited in implementing a subset of agile methodologies on a medium sized software development team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can also use free or paid extensions for any additional needs. you have. There is a competition among project management tools as well as agile methods tools, so keep that in mind when considering these solutions.

  • January 10, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Jira because it allows to create different tickets for a Project and with the Agile plugin, it's possibile to define sprints and manage a ticket board. It is fully extensible thanks to a Plugin Market, so the basic functions can be extended.
It comes with an installer package, so basically you can configure your own Tomcat server and run it on every machine
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes got stuck and it becomes slow, so it needs to be restarted
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira solves the problem of team organizations. By defining roles, story points, deadlines and milestones, it can allow a manager to assign tasks to different members.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explore the Plugin Market, which contains a series of interesting plugins which might solve your specific problems

JIRA is a great tool for Agile based projects

  • June 24, 2015
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA works very well for projects following Agile methodology, breaking larger requirement into small stories and then tracking them through the production cycle. You can use Add-ons for better use of JIRA like ReQtest brings test management to JIRA. You can create test cases, organize them into test runs and assign them to testers in your team. Any bug report saved on ReQtest is immediately shared with Jira.
What do you dislike about the product?
JIRA - It doesn't work well on IE or FF and it gets stuck sometime. It works well on Chrome browser.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Create bug reports and attach screenshots
Group tests into test runs and test suites
Flexible and customizable to your company’s process
Manage requirements
Agile board
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use different add-ons which are available with JIRA.

A staple for agile teams

  • July 12, 2013
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA has improved so much over the years. It is widely known as the staple for agile software development teams. Using anything else is almost pointless. JIRA has a great way of also supporting cross functional teams and uniting teams of multiple skillsets and disciplines. As a designer, I love that I can bring all relevant parties along the planning/vetting process of a user story, before it enters the main to-do list of development and release.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the user story mapping feature was built out a little bit better and that it could be an easy starting place for user stories that eventually end up on a development or design board.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making the agile software developement process smooth and uninterrupted.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a good bug/feature request tool, it's not bad. But if you're looking to use it as a project management tool, look elsewhere.
