A Powerful but Sometimes Overwhelming Project Management Tool

  • September 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira is excellent for managing complex projects and tracking tasks across multiple teams. Its flexibility allows you to customize workflows, dashboards, and reports to fit almost any process. The sheer number of integrations with other tools (like Confluence, Slack, and GitHub) makes it easy to keep everything connected in one place. I also like how granular the permissions and tracking can get, which is very useful for large teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve can be steep, especially for new users. The interface sometimes feels cluttered, and simple tasks can take multiple steps because of the platform’s complexity. While Jira is powerful, setting up custom workflows and fields can require significant time and expertise. Customer support is decent but not always quick for urgent issues. Performance can also lag when handling very large projects with thousands of issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira helps us organize and track work across teams, ensuring everyone has visibility into project status and priorities. It centralizes tasks, bugs, and feature requests so nothing slips through the cracks. The reporting and dashboards give managers real-time insights into progress and bottlenecks, which improves planning and resource allocation. Agile boards (Scrum/Kanban) make sprint planning and daily stand-ups more efficient, ultimately helping our team deliver faster and with better alignment.

A powerful tool for product management

What do you like best about the product?
Jira is a powerful and feature rich tool to manage projects. It is a bit complex to learn at the beginning, but once set up, it becomes a crucial center for managin a project efficiently. Setting up the tool takes some effort as you have to customize it for your team and set variables applying to your project needs. I use it daily to track my tasks as well as teams'. It helps assign, manage, track and following up with team easily. JIRA is packed with features like boards, clockwork, workflows, reports, integration and a lot more. It integrates well with other tools such as Slack, GitLab, Figma, Katalon, Jenkin etc. JIRA also has automation features make it very easy to use and nothing falls through.
What do you dislike about the product?
JIRA is very complex in nature and due to its overwhelming features and settings you can get lost sometimes. While its flexible, customizing worflows and permissions can get tricky without an expertise. On larger projects, you can notice some performance issues due to many tasks. If your team is completely dependent on JIRA to make reports, the it can be overwehlming to update it on regualr basis as there are a lot of variables to update.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA keeps all of our tasks, bugs, and project updates in one location, which helps my team and I stay organized. Because everything is properly recorded with owners and deadlines, it eliminates the issue of misunderstandings and disorganized information. Early detection of delays or obstacles is made simple by the dashboards and reports, which provide a clear picture of progress. Time is also saved and the inconvenience of platform change is lessened by integrations with other products. All things considered, it facilitates teamwork and guarantees that nothing is missed.

What do you like best about the product?
The Best thing about Jira is that it is easy to use and have more features we can work on It is designed in simple format so if a new person starts using it. I'm using it on daily basis to raise an issue to my Dev Team. It can be customized like if i want to add something i can do that. Drop down features also good it will help to create it fast. I can download the reports also using this & it is also helpful to maintain the records. It is very helpful in customer support as I'm a support person and have administrator experience it helps me to communicate with my developer team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes want happens when I was raising a Jira and adding a snapshot it was not working and create button keeps buffering so i have to first create it and then attach the snapshot. So this happens sometimes and i don't like it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira helps a lot in IT profession. Jira is used to track the issues and tasks all in one place. It is helpful to communicate the Issue from Support team to dev team. I can mention code and server related Jira issues and assign them on priority and based on that dev team debug the Issue. Here we can see records in future we face same issue.

With robust issue tracking, detailed reporting, and integration capabilities, it helps teams stay aligned, organized, and productive throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

What I dislike about Jira is its complexity and steep learning curve, especially for new users. Over-customization can lead to cluttered workflows and reduced usability.
