Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT for Windows (BYOL)
Centralized automation has streamlined secure document workflows and improved encryption controls
What is our primary use case?
GoAnywhere MFT is a centralized encryption and centralized tool where all files are automatically transferred between clients and our onshores so that easy transfer of files with encryption is being proceeded accordingly.
How has it helped my organization?
SharePoint is the connector that we use.
GoAnywhere MFT has significantly improved as it has provided many more connectors to third-party tools as well, where third-party tools which are included with ServiceNow, software asset management as well as hardware asset management. Everything is very much automated. Every single data, which includes financial figures also, are being maintained in GoAnywhere MFT and it is one of the best things for the centralized document management perspective. It has even replaced the OpenText document archive by SAP archives, which was earlier provided. GoAnywhere MFT has replaced this with a much more reliable cost.
What is most valuable?
For the best features of GoAnywhere MFT, I would rate the powerful automations that we have of workflow management. I would add it up with the centralized management, which actually is a single platform to control all the transfers. One more feature would be the logs that show to whom the data is shared, by whom the data is shared, and when the data is shared. Every log is being kept. That is very important for the encryption perspective and also the additional encryptions of HTTPS and all which are provided by GoAnywhere MFT is a plus point on that.
What needs improvement?
For the improvement perspective in GoAnywhere MFT, the UI at earlier times was very much outdated. Now some features have improved, but there is significant improvement much required in that. The encryption perspective has improved a lot from the cybersecurity perspective for the data to be managed end-to-end encryption. That is one of the best things that we can have right now. Those are the two points that have improved a lot in the past few years.
For the improvement perspective, I would tell that the learning curve or the implementation time of the software is pretty high, which can be reduced or simplified in a normal format. That is one of the key improvements that is needed. Cost can be considered as high, especially for small businesses. But for mid and large businesses, GoAnywhere MFT is a one-step solution. One of the most important things that needs to be improved is the customer support. It is slow, irresponsive, and inconsistent.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for nearly one to two years now, and it has been a very pleasant journey as of today.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Rarely, but I do use the GoFast feature to accelerate data transmission.
The experience is good, but its cost efficiency is higher. So for that reason, we do not use that often. But when there is a large chunk of data which needs to be accelerated fast for a delivery perspective, we use that to ensure the delivery lines are matched up.
Seven would be fine. Seven is good because it gets unstable with very high chunks of data sometimes for which the accelerator is required. So seven is normally acceptable for it.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
GoAnywhere MFT stands as one of the top contenders in this. It has very high scalability, which is very important for us to maintain the software in day-to-day life. But for smaller businesses, it is costly. For mid and large businesses which we actually cater to, I think it is one of the best solutions that we have. We can rate it as out of five, we can rate it at a scale of four point two.
It is a nine. It is highly scalable.
How are customer service and support?
It was a bit challenging in the initial first, but we got the customer support and then we got it sorted out.
One of the most important things that needs to be improved is the customer support. It is slow, irresponsive, and inconsistent.
How was the initial setup?
It took around one to two months to get deployed completely.
What was our ROI?
Approximately, it is around seven hundred. There are more than ten thousand employees, but only seven hundred to eight hundred people in our team that I know use GoAnywhere MFT. I do not know about the others, but approximately as per my knowledge, it is seven hundred.
What other advice do I have?
I am not sure if we use that or not. But for the document perspective, we use it through the automations. For the implementation perspective, I am not sure with the question.
Secure Forms has actually improved in the most important part as the survey collector. It actually confirms all the information that is being gathered inside the documents. It takes out the document in a single form and then logs it down in a single unit, which is actually a summarized form. It is very much useful for summarizing long documents into a shorter form.
For GoAnywhere MFT, for other people who are proceeding to procure it, for smaller businesses, I would ask them to go for a much cheaper solution because GoAnywhere MFT comes at a higher cost. But for mid to high-range organizations, I would definitely recommend GoAnywhere MFT as a one-stop solution because of the high scalability as well as the high security. It is a very good software. Even if small organizations want to invest a cost and if the cost is not a burden for them, of course, they can go for GoAnywhere MFT. It is a splendid software. I gave this review an overall rating of eight point five.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Automated workflows have secured critical data transfers and simplify complex QA validations
What is our primary use case?
My primary use case for GoAnywhere MFT is to test, validate, and secure automated file transfer workflows across multiple systems within my organization. In my role as a QA engineer, I work closely with workflows that handle the movement of sensitive data between internal applications, external vendors, and cloud platforms. I use GoAnywhere MFT to ensure that these transfers are reliable, secure, and function as expected under different scenarios. Specifically, my use case includes validating automated workflows, testing the scheduled and event-based file transfers to ensure they execute correctly without any manual intervention, and ensuring data integrity by verifying that the files are transferred completely and accurately without any corruption or data loss. I also use it for security testing to check encryption and authentication mechanisms and secure protocols such as SFTP and FTPS, as well as for my end-to-end integration testing to confirm the smooth data exchange between systems such as databases, APIs, and third-party platforms. Overall, I use it as a central platform to simulate real-world file transfer scenarios and validate that all processes are stable and production-ready before deployment.
Beyond what I have described about my main use case, I do not just validate whether a file transfer works; I also focus on edge cases and real scenarios. For example, I test how workflows behave under failure conditions such as network interruptions, incorrect credentials, or partial file availability to ensure that the system is resilient and can recover gracefully without data loss. I am also involved in regression testing whenever there are changes to workflows or system upgrades since file transfer processes are often business-critical, and even small changes can impact multiple integrations, making validating backward compatibility important. Another area of focus is data validations across environments, where I frequently compare outputs between the QA and staging environments to ensure consistency before production release. The detailed audit logs and reporting features make it easier to trace issues and confirm the expected behavior.
GoAnywhere MFT acts as a central integration layer that connects multiple systems, applications, and external partners in a secure and automated way. We do not use it just for file transfers; we use it as a bridge between different technologies. GoAnywhere MFT integrates via APIs such as REST and web services. One of the key integration methods is through APIs, as GoAnywhere MFT consumes and triggers REST and SOAP APIs, allowing us to connect systems such as CRMs, ERPs, and third-party services, enabling real-time or near-real-time data exchange. We have leveraged built-in cloud connectors to integrate with external platforms since it supports tools such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Google Drive, and AWS S3. These connectors can be configured once and reused across the overall workflow, enabling seamless data movement between on-premises systems and cloud applications. GoAnywhere MFT also integrates with our internal systems, such as our databases for reading and writing data, file servers, network shares, and legacy systems. For example, files received via SFTP can be automatically parsed and inserted into our database. In our setup, it often acts as middleware, handling data transformations into CSV, XML, and JSON formats and ensuring sequencing, such as processing task A first, then task B, and notifying system C afterward. Instead of point-to-point integration, everything flows through GoAnywhere MFT, improving control and maintainability.
What is most valuable?
I appreciate the browser-based interface feature because it is a web-based admin interface that allows me to configure workflows, monitor transfers, and manage user permissions. This simplifies access without requiring heavy local installations.
GoAnywhere MFT has impacted my organization positively in several ways, particularly in terms of automation, security, and operational efficiencies. One of the major improvements is the reduction in manual efforts; earlier, file transfers required manual intervention or custom scripts, which were time-consuming and prone to errors. With GoAnywhere MFT, we have been able to automate end-to-end workflows, streamlining processes and reducing dependence on manual handling. This directly improves productivity and minimizes human errors. Another major benefit is enhanced security and compliance, since we deal with sensitive data. Having built-in encryption, secure protocols, and detailed audit logs ensures that file data is always protected. It also helps us meet compliance requirements easily by providing full visibility into file transfers and user activity. We have also seen improvements in centralized management and visibility, as everything is managed through the single platform of GoAnywhere MFT instead of using multiple tools or scripts. This makes it easier to monitor workflows, track failures, and quickly resolve issues, which is especially helpful from a QA and support perspective. In terms of reliability and scalability, the platform handles very large volumes of file transfers efficiently and supports high availability, ensuring that business-critical processes continue without disruption, even during peak loads and minor system issues.

What other advice do I have?
Automation has reduced manual file transfers and provides secure, auditable data workflows
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for using GoAnywhere MFT is primarily for internal applications, external vendors, and cloud storage systems. I use it to manage scheduled file exchanges, automated workflows, and ensure that sensitive business data is transferred securely with proper encryption and monitoring. From a QA perspective, one specific example involves validating the automated SFTP workflow used for daily reporting and data synchronization between systems. Every day, files are generated from one application, encrypted, and automatically transferred to another server through scheduled jobs in GoAnywhere MFT. My role includes testing whether files are generated correctly and transferred within expected timelines, encrypted properly, and successfully delivered without corruption or data loss.
I also validated error handling scenarios such as failed transfers, network interruptions, incorrect credentials, or missing files to ensure the alerts and retry mechanisms work as expected. The centralized dashboard and logging features are especially useful because they make it easier for me to track file movement, troubleshoot failures, and verify audit requirements during my testing cycle. Overall, GoAnywhere MFT has helped reduce manual intervention significantly by automating repetitive transfer tasks while improving reliability, visibility, and security across file transfers.
What is most valuable?
I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for the last two years in my current field, and my experience includes validating FTP and SFTP processes and checking encryption and security-related configurations.
As an experienced user of GoAnywhere MFT in quality assurance, it allows my organization to automate repetitive file transfer processes, scheduling, encryption, and notifications without requiring heavy manual intervention. This has helped improve operational efficiency and reduce human error significantly. Another feature I found very useful is the centralized monitoring and reporting dashboard because from a QA and testing perspective, having visibility into transfer logs, job execution history, and failure alerts made troubleshooting much easier. It helped me quickly identify whether a transfer failed because of connectivity issues, authentication problems, or incorrect file processing. The security features are also a major advantage in GoAnywhere MFT because it supports secure protocols like SFTP, FTP, and HTTPS and encryption standards, which are very important when handling sensitive enterprise data.
The audit trails and compliance-related capabilities are especially valuable for my organization that needs strong governance and tracking. I also appreciate the ease of integration with different systems such as cloud performance platforms and external vendors, as this platform supports multiple integrations well and provides flexibility for enterprise-level workflows. Additionally, the scheduling functionality is reliable and allows businesses to run large volumes of automated transfers at predefined times without much maintenance effort. Overall, the combination of automation, security, centralized monitoring, and ease of administration is the strongest aspect of GoAnywhere MFT.
What needs improvement?
There is an area of improvement where I believe the product could be better. One area for improvement is the user interface and overall user experience. While the platform is very feature-rich, some sections of the UI can feel complex for new users, especially when configuring advanced workflows or troubleshooting detailed processes. A more modern and intuitive interface with simplified navigation would greatly improve usability for both technical and non-technical teams.
Another improvement could be around reporting and analytics. The existing monitoring and logging features are useful, but more advanced visualization dashboards, customized reports, and deeper analytics capabilities would help teams gain better operational insights and identify trends more easily. I also think that the initial setup and configuration process could be simplified further for enterprise environments with complex integrations. Some configurations require detailed technical understanding, so improving onboarding, recommendations, the setup flow, and offering more pre-built templates would help reduce implementation effort.
From a QA and testing perspective, better support for test environment simulation and workflow validation features would also be valuable. For example, enhanced debugging tools or easier ways to simulate task failures or edge cases could help teams test workflows more efficiently before production deployment. Additionally, the platform integrates well with managed systems, and expanding native cloud integration and modern API capabilities further would also make it more flexible for organizations moving towards hybrid and cloud-native architecture. Overall, these improvements would mainly enhance usability, reporting, testing efficiency, and integration flexibility while building on the strong security and automation capabilities the product already offers.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working in my current field for the last three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
GoAnywhere MFT is quite stable based on my experience. We have never seen any downtime related to new traffic or high traffic. We have not experienced much downtime, and I would say that its stability is good. We expect it to become even more stable because once workflows and integrations are configured properly, the system handles scheduled transfers, automation jobs, and secure file exchanges consistently with minimal disruption. The platform performs well even when handling multiple concurrent transfers or recurring automated workflows. We did not face any unexpected outages or critical stability issues during normal operations. The scheduling engine and automation processes are generally dependable, especially for routine daily transfers and integrations.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
One of the strengths of the platform is its ability to handle growing transfer volumes and increasing automation requirements without requiring major changes to existing workflows as our organization adds more scheduled jobs, integrations, and secure transfer processes. The platform continues to perform reliably with centralized management and monitoring. From QA and operational perspectives, the centralized dashboard becomes even more valuable as the environment scales, enabling monitoring of transfers, reviewing logs, managing alerts, and troubleshooting workflows across multiple systems from a single platform rather than relying on fragmented tools. Scalability also depends on proper infrastructure sizing, implementation planning, and resource management. Overall, based on my personal experience, GoAnywhere MFT provides a scalable and maintainable solution for organizations with expanding secure file transfer and automation needs.
How are customer service and support?
I personally have a very good experience with the customer support of GoAnywhere MFT. Whenever I get stuck in any situation or confusion, I reach out to them and write my query. They are knowledgeable and resolve my queries promptly. I can say that they are always happy to help us as customers, and we are happy with their service.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before using GoAnywhere MFT, we manually sent files to our clients over Gmail and Yahoo. One of the main challenges with the previous approach was the lack of centralized visibility and monitoring, and obviously security concerns. Troubleshooting failures often required checking multiple logs across servers and scripts, which increased resolution time and operational complexity. Managing security, audit tracking, and workflow dependency also became more difficult with fragmented tools. Previously, we used some basic FTP and SFTP tools for managing integrations and scheduled transfers. While those approaches worked for smaller or simpler workflows, they became increasingly difficult to manage as the number of integrations and security requirements grew.
How was the initial setup?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is definitely positive because it aligns with my expectations from an enterprise-grade managed file transfer solution. While it may not be considered a low-cost product, the value comes from its strong security capabilities, automation features, centralized management, and reduction in manual operational effort. The licensing model appears flexible, depending on organizational requirements and usage patterns. For enterprise implementation that handles large volumes of secure file transfers, the investment felt reasonable because the platform consolidates multiple processes and reduces dependence on custom scripts and separate monitoring tools.
Regarding setup and implementation, the initial configuration requires some planning, especially when integrating with multiple systems, external vendors, and security policies. From an operational perspective, automation and centralized monitoring capabilities help offset some of the implementation and licensing costs over time by reducing manual work, improving troubleshooting efficiency, and minimizing overall transfer failures. Overall, my experience is that while the upfront investment may be higher compared to basic transfer solutions, the reliability, security, and enterprise management features make it a worthwhile long-term investment for an organization with complex file transfer needs.
What about the implementation team?
We are end users and customers of this product.
What was our ROI?
I have seen great return on investment after using GoAnywhere MFT, mainly through time-saving, reduced manual efforts, and improved operational reliability. Even though I may not have access to exact financial numbers across the organization, the impact is noticeable from both QA and operational perspectives. One of the biggest ROI areas was automation because many recurring file transfer tasks previously required manual monitoring, validation, or scripting and are now automated through workflows and scheduling. I would estimate that around thirty-five to forty percent of the tasks have been automated, reducing the amount of repetitive operational work for support and infrastructure teams and allowing them to focus more on high-priority activities.
From my day-to-day experience, troubleshooting and monitoring have also become significantly faster, improved by around fifteen to twenty percent, because earlier diagnosing file transfers could involve checking logs across multiple systems and coordinating between teams. With a centralized dashboard and detailed logs, many investigations that used to take a few hours could now be completed within twenty to thirty minutes. While I wouldn't say that the tools directly reduce headcount in our case, they definitely improve productivity and reduce manual efforts needed to manage enterprise file transfer operations. Over time, gross efficiency gains have contributed to a strong overall ROI for the organization.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
As an experienced user of GoAnywhere MFT, I recommend that others looking into using GoAnywhere MFT understand their file transfer, automation, and security requirements before implementing MFT. The platform is very capable, especially for enterprise environments, but they need to plan workflows, integrations, and monitoring requirements properly from the beginning to maximize its value. I would especially recommend taking advantage of the automation and centralized monitoring features rather than using the tools only as a basic file transfer solution. The real strength of GoAnywhere MFT comes from workflow automation, scheduling, alerting, encryption, and centralized visibility across multiple systems and vendors.
What other advice do I have?
I rate GoAnywhere MFT as an eight out of ten because the platform performs very well in terms of secure file transfer automation, centralized monitoring, reliability, and security features. The reason I am not providing it a perfect ten is mainly because there is still room for improvement in areas such as user interface, advanced analytics reporting, and simplifying some complex configurations for new users.
GoAnywhere MFT is a very powerful automation engine and overall a strong choice for organizations looking for a secure, reliable, and scalable managed file transfer solution with solid automation and enterprise management capabilities. It has very strong testing scenarios for transfer failures, rights, security validation, and edge cases during file transfer implementation. This really helps ensure long-term stability and minimizes production issues faster.
Automation has eliminated manual file transfers and gives us full control over secure data exchange
What is our primary use case?
Our main use case for GoAnywhere MFT is automating secure data exchange between our internal databases and external vendors while maintaining a strict audit trail. For example, we have a daily automated workflow that pulls operational records directly from our SQL Server database every night. GoAnywhere MFT handles the extraction, automatically encrypts the file using OpenPGP, and pushes it out to an external partner SFTP server. If anything throws an error during that process, the platform immediately triggers an alert for our team. It completely removed the need for custom scripts and manual tracking on our end.
Day-to-day, we also rely heavily on GoAnywhere MFT for processing inbound files from our trading partners. We set up monitored folders, so the moment a vendor drops a file into an HTTPS endpoint or SFTP folder, GoAnywhere MFT instantly triggers a multi-step project to handle it. It automatically decrypts the incoming data, runs basic format validation, and feeds it directly into our internal processing files. Having the centralized dashboard where we can see the real-time status of every single inbound and outbound transfer has been a game-changer for our operations team, and it saves us hours that used to be spent digging through log files just to see if a file has arrived.
What is most valuable?
The absolute standout feature of GoAnywhere MFT is the drag-and-drop workflow automation engine. It includes numerous built-in tasks that completely eliminated our need to write and maintain complex custom scripts for file routing. Another huge piece is the native database integration because it lets us pull data, encrypt it, and transfer it all within a single automated step. On top of that, the centralized management and comprehensive audit logs make compliance audits incredibly stress-free. It gives our team full visibility into every single inbound and outbound transfer from one single dashboard.
The drag-and-drop workflow automation in GoAnywhere MFT completely transformed our daily operations by moving us entirely away from a manual codebase and script writing. Instead of writing custom code every time a partner changes their file format or protocol, we just chain prebuilt tasks together visually. The single task we use most frequently is the OpenPGP encryption and decryption block alongside the native SFTP task. It allowed us to pull a file from a folder with an ongoing monitoring system, encrypt it to meet compliance standards, and push it to a vendor in just a few clicks. This has saved our engineering team countless hours because we no longer have to debug broken codebases and handle key management manually.
The biggest impact GoAnywhere MFT has had on our organization has been the near total elimination of manual file transfer failures, which dropped by over 90 percent since we migrated. Before GoAnywhere MFT, our team spent hours every week manually tracking down failed scripts or missing files, but automated retries and alerts completely solved that. We have also seen a massive reduction in operational overhead. Setting up a new vendor integration now takes just a few minutes, instead of days of custom codebase writing and development. From a security perspective, we have achieved 100 percent compliance alignment on data at rest encryption for our partners' files right out of the box. Ultimately, it freed our engineering resources to focus more on core projects rather than babysitting the file transfer.
What needs improvement?
From a core functionality and reliability standpoint, GoAnywhere MFT is exceptional and easily beats out the other options we looked at. If I had to pick something for a roadmap, the web-based admin UI can sometimes feel a bit traditional compared to newer and cloud-native SaaS platforms, but it is easier to understand as it has a traditional web setup. There is also a slight learning curve when you first dive into building complex, multi-step workflows with traditional logic. However, these are minor operational adjustments rather than actual platform limitations. It does exactly what it is built for, and its stability completely outweighs any cosmetic preferences that I might have.
There really is not much to complain about, but if I had to find a small area, the documentation for niche, advanced scripting scenarios could be slightly more modernized with more real-world examples. Additionally, while the built-in integration for major databases and standard cloud storage are fantastic, having more native and one-click connectors for newer SaaS platforms would save us a bit of configuration time. Right now we handle those newer cloud endpoints using their standard web services task, which works perfectly fine. It is just a minor quality-of-life thing, but as far as the core file transfer mechanics go, the platform is rock solid.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working in my current field for almost three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
GoAnywhere MFT is absolutely stable for our use case. GoAnywhere MFT has demonstrated stable operation for our organization, even when external factors beyond our control came into play, and it gave us the best stable solution for our use cases.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
GoAnywhere MFT's scalability is actually one of the core and strongest characteristics. The architecture is fully designed for horizontal scaling through native, active-running clustering. This means as your transfer volume grows, you can just add more server nodes to the cluster to distribute the processing load seamlessly. We paired the engine with GoAnywhere Gateway, which acts as a load balancer to spread inbound partner connections evenly across the clusters using a round-robin approach. For our background workflow projects, the system automatically balances the execution load across all active nodes to maximize throughput. It gives us true enterprise scale without needing to redesign a single workflow or script as we grow.
How are customer service and support?
Customer support for GoAnywhere MFT has been excellent and is definitely one of the stronger aspects of working with Fortra. Whenever we have opened a ticket, usually for clarifying a syntax requirement in an advanced multi-step workflow or verifying an architecture configuration for our hybrid gateway setup, their technical support team has been highly responsive and genuinely knowledgeable. We are not just getting generic front-line script readers; we get engineering support that actually understands the network infrastructure, encryption protocols, and complex routing.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before making the switch to GoAnywhere MFT, we were relying on a mix of standard Linux SFTP servers paired with a ton of custom cron jobs and shell scripts. It technically worked when our vendor network was small, but it completely lacked central management and had zero native error handling. If the transfer failed at 2:00 a.m., we would not find out until a partner called us in the next morning, because there were no automated alerts or tracking. We also evaluated other commercial tools such as Progress MOVEit at the time, but we found GoAnywhere MFT's visual workflow designer to be significantly more robust and far easier to integrate with our SQL databases. We ultimately switched because we reached a point where we could not risk compliance gaps or waste valuable engineering hours manually debugging broken scripts.
How was the initial setup?
Regarding deployment, we opted for a hybrid cloud model to get the best of both worlds. Our core GoAnywhere MFT engines and sensitive database connections sit securely on our internal private infrastructure to satisfy strict data residency requirements. Meanwhile, we leverage cloud-based secure gateways and agents in our public cloud environment to cleanly manage external partner connections and edge transfers.
What about the implementation team?
We use Amazon Web Services, AWS for the public cloud part of our hybrid deployment. We used AWS Marketplace to purchase GoAnywhere MFT.
What was our ROI?
We saw massive ROI within the first six months of deployment. From a direct time-saving perspective, we went from roughly 60 to 80 hours a month in manual scripting and troubleshooting down to zero. This essentially gave us back the entire full-time engineer's worth of capacity. While we did not reduce our headcount, we were able to completely reallocate those valuable technical resources to focus heavily on our core platform. We have completely avoided the heavy financial cost and penalties associated with missed SLAs and compliance violations because our transfer failure rate dropped by 90 percent. When you factor in the speed at which we can now onboard new trading partners, minutes instead of days of custom coding, the operational cost saving has been massive.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Our experience with GoAnywhere MFT's pricing, setup cost, and licensing structure has been highly positive because it is completely module-based. Instead of hitting us with a rigid, monolithic enterprise price tier, Fortra lets us license the core engine and then strictly pay for the specific modules and servers we actually need. There is so much flexibility in offering both perpetual and annual subscription options, and the standard license does not arbitrarily restrict the number of external SFTP or HTTPS partner connections we can make. Regarding the initial setup cost, I think it was great and reasonable because the platform requires practically zero custom coding or heavy professional services to stand up. We did not have to hire expensive, specialized consultants or budget for months for our implementation. Our internal team handled the deployment seamlessly using the pre-configured AWS Marketplace images and their standard documentation.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We actually evaluated Progress MOVEit at that time.
What other advice do I have?
The only thing I would emphasize about GoAnywhere MFT's features is the extreme level of flexibility in the deployment and clustering capabilities. We run a hybrid setup and GoAnywhere MFT handles active-active clustering beautifully, ensuring we have high availability with zero downtime for our mission-critical transfers. If one server goes down or hits a high load, the system balances the traffic without discarding any file. GoAnywhere MFT's secure folder feature with HTTPS access has been huge for our non-technical business users. It lets them securely upload files via a simple web browser link without needing a client or technical training.
I would rate GoAnywhere MFT a 10 out of 10 because it completely delivered on everything it promised without causing any operational friction. What really made it stand out over competitors such as Progress MOVEit or Globalscape was how incredibly robust and intuitive the workflow automation engine is. While other products felt like glorified FTP servers with basic scheduling tacked on, GoAnywhere MFT felt a true enterprise orchestration platform. It handled everything from database connections to encryption and file routing under a single unified interface. Knowing that our mission-critical transfers run flawlessly every day with absolute visibility gave us the confidence to give it a perfect score.
From a security and governance perspective, what is great about GoAnywhere MFT is that it does not treat AI as a gimmicky chatbot feature inside the platform itself. Instead, its smart capabilities are baked into backend governance through integrations with Fortra's Threat Brain Intelligence database. It uses behavioral fingerprinting and dynamic threat feeds to proactively block malicious and suspicious IP addresses before they even touch our file transfer system and environment. This means our automated workflows and integrations stay completely isolated from potential threats. Because all of this threat detection happens behind the scenes, it feeds directly into the centralized audit logs, giving us automated compliance data without operational friction for our team.
The reliability and accuracy of GoAnywhere MFT's smart backend governance features has completely met our expectations because it works invisibly in the background pulling from real-time threat intelligence feeds. We have not faced a single false positive or disruptive workflow. It consistently blocks the risk at the perimeter without requiring any insight, oversight, manual intervention, or tweaking from our team, which gives us immense peace of mind.
If you are evaluating GoAnywhere MFT, treat it as an automation and orchestration engine, not just an upgraded SFTP server. Many organizations make the mistake of migrating their legacy processes one-for-one without taking advantage of the platform's capabilities. Based on the migration experience, the critical pieces I would emphasize is to map out your legacy logic before you install. Do not just replicate scripts; redesign them to leverage all the GoAnywhere MFT features they offer. Think about architecture early, especially for hybrid deployments. Use the gateway and keep the data secure. Also, take advantage of module-based licensing because they have the best module-based licensing model. If you can share knowledge or train your team on workflow logic, everyone can leverage the support and documentation provided for onboarding and initial setup.

Secure payroll transfers have improved auditing and now protect sensitive financial exchanges
What is our primary use case?
Managing file transfers from external partners to internal systems is my main use case for GoAnywhere MFT. I perform inbound and outbound operations using GoAnywhere MFT where I can exchange file transfer data from external clients to our internal tools where we exchange payroll data and everything related to financial data.
The main use case I use GoAnywhere MFT for is financial data transfer from our organization to external organizations, payroll data, and file transfers.
What is most valuable?
GoAnywhere MFT offers seamless file transmission where I can secure the files and perform auditing with end-to-end logs. The logging makes troubleshooting easier. For example, if I am facing any issues connecting to an external partner where I am performing inbound and outbound operations, I can check my logs and fix the issues as soon as possible.
GoAnywhere MFT supports multiple protocols such as SFTP, AS2, FTP to S3, and many more protocols. GoAnywhere MFT has impacted my organization significantly. My client is a financial background client where they have a bunch of financial data exchanging from internal systems to external systems, including financial data, financial transactions, and financial payroll. GoAnywhere MFT is a key pillar for us.
GoAnywhere MFT helps us automate those flows and provides all the logs where I can fix issues on time and I feel more comfortable with file transmissions.
What needs improvement?
GoAnywhere MFT is working as expected. I think we are in the AI era and I believe we could add AI to GoAnywhere MFT where I could troubleshoot small errors without any human interaction. GoAnywhere MFT will work end-to-end as expected, and I think adding AI would enhance functionality for small-level troubleshooting.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for four and a half years.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability with GoAnywhere MFT is good. I can check end-to-end file transfers.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support is excellent. Whenever I face any issues, I can reach out to customer support or fill out customer forms and I receive solutions.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I used another MFT tool called Axway MFT as well as Sterling. I recently performed a migration from Sterling to GoAnywhere MFT for seamless file transfer transmissions. I saw other MFT tools and comparing them to GoAnywhere MFT, GoAnywhere MFT comes with budget-friendly pricing and good architecture, excellent auditing capabilities, and it is a completely comprehensive MFT suite.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate GoAnywhere MFT nine point five out of ten because I prefer it over other MFT tools I have worked with. GoAnywhere MFT is very user-friendly and users can access logins and find issues as soon as possible while maintaining secure file transmissions.
The governance and security are top-notch where I can send files using encryption and decrypt files using keys. The reliability is top-notch because the flow, auditing, and architecture level are excellent.
My best advice is that if a company operates in the financial background, healthcare sector, or other finance-related fields, I would choose GoAnywhere MFT because it is budget-friendly and offers a full MFT suite where I can check end-to-end file transmissions and all the data. I believe GoAnywhere MFT is the best choice for MFT. My overall review rating for this product is nine point five out of ten.
Easy to Use with Outstanding, Responsive Support
Efficient and Easy-to-Use File Transfer Solution
Reliable and Feature-Rich, Despite UI Challenges
Centralized, Flexible, and Secure File Transfers with GoAnywhere MFT
We had great support from the onboarding team when implementing the service. Great user guide that is straight forward to use and easily accessible through workflow setup.
We have never had performance issues or bottlenecks when using the system, and we have internal processes that are running on a constant basis
We were also able to tighten the security of our connections. We no longer have to share passwords between users to connect to external sites, since we now use one SSH key per GoAnywhere connection.
With GoAnywhere’s ability to process PGP encryption, we now have workflows in place to encrypt or decrypt files. Previously, users had to handle these steps manually.
The UI-based workflows in GoAnywhere also save us time when creating flows. Before, we spent a lot of time writing scripts to transfer files. Once the workflows are in place, they save time for our end users as well, since they no longer have to process the files themselves.
