What is our primary use case?
I use GoAnywhere MFT for securely transferring files between different systems and environments, moving data files such as CSV or other structured files between our internal systems, the Azure cloud storage, and external partners. I mainly use it to automate file transfers and schedule workflows, which reduces our workload.
What is most valuable?
The main important features I appreciate about GoAnywhere MFT are its security, monitoring, and automation capabilities. Once a workflow is configured, it becomes very easy to automate file transferring.
The overall speed of the support is very good, but it depends upon the size of the data. The service is reliable and performs well, making file transfers generally quick. If the data is regular and consistent, it works smoothly, and monitoring helps me identify any delays or issues. Overall, the speed is good but can depend on file size and network conditions.
What needs improvement?
When I first started using GoAnywhere MFT, I faced some issues configuring it, especially with setting up complex workflows, permissions, and integrations. I encountered some challenges initially, but after that, I became accustomed to the interface and overall functionality. While there have been no significant issues with GoAnywhere MFT, new users may need some time to learn and become comfortable with it.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used GoAnywhere MFT for approximately six to twelve months, working as a data engineer.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have never seen errors or bugs on GoAnywhere MFT platform. However, while transferring data, we have faced some issues due to inconsistent data or some pipeline issues, but the platform itself has been stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of GoAnywhere MFT is great as it scales well with the number of file transfer workflows and data volume increases. For very large and highly complex environments, the configuration is really good, making it easy to maintain performance and scalability.
How are customer service and support?
I have contacted GoAnywhere MFT customer support a few times for configuration or integration-related issues, especially in the beginning. They provided me with good assistance and guided me to troubleshoot and resolve those technical issues.
How was the initial setup?
The initial deployment of GoAnywhere MFT is very easy but does require some configuration and planning. With support from customer service, we identified the system and file transfer needs, and according to their guidance, we configured the necessary connections, users, permissions, and security settings. Overall, the initial deployment was very easy with their help.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I have used alternatives to GoAnywhere MFT, such as SFTP-based solutions or cloud-native file transfer services like Azure storage with SFTP support.
What other advice do I have?
I have explored the Agent-based functionality mainly to automate and manage file transfer activities across our different systems, whether on-premises or in the cloud. This is useful for reducing manual work and ensuring files are transferred consistently.
I have exposure to the Secure Forms feature, which is useful for collecting files or information securely from users or external parties. It allows us to submit credential information in a controlled way instead of relying on emails or less secure file-sharing methods.
I have used GoFast, which provides a more streamlined user experience for managing file transfer activities. It makes common tasks easier to access and helps users work with the platform more efficiently, making it a nice improvement from a usability perspective.

What do you like best about the product?
It provides very comfortable guidelines. The setup and configuration follow a very commonly used method, so it feels familiar and easy to work with.
What do you dislike about the product?
There’s no AV integration with third-party services or an in-house app.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Secure Form module and the Data Translation and Automation Workflow work very well.

What do you like best about the product?
One of the biggest benefits has been the ability to automate file transfer processes that would otherwise require manual effort and ongoing monitoring. The platform's drag-and-drop interface is key in its ease-of-use and has proven to be instrumental in our ability to quickly and easily create workflows. And from a security standpoint, GoAnywhere provides the controls we need to confidently exchange sensitive information.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a bit tricky sometimes to know exactly what each available action does and how to configure them, however, Fortra's documentation has assisted us with this, as well as their support teams. More examples, however, always come in handy and would definitely be appreciated!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thanks to the platform's ease-of-use, we are able to quickly respond to department workflow requests, which allows us to deliver solutions to our end users in a timely manner.

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how GoAnywhere MFT eliminates the need for SFTP clients on individual desktops, which reduces vulnerabilities. The setup of security is well thought out, with the server not needing to be exposed publicly and instead using a gateway with minimal information. Setting up monitors for jobs is intuitive, especially with some training from the Fortra staff. The ease of scheduling file transfers is a great feature, and the initial setup was very easy. Additionally, I valued how GoAnywhere MFT met our requirement for SSO, which other solutions at the time didn't offer.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see a high-level dashboard with the daily jobs listed, with a green/yellow/red status. This would be more of a NOC view. Right now, we are monitoring for alerts coming through our email and Teams site as more reactive. It would be nice to have this view to be more proactive about seeing where we are, easily throughout the day. We have jobs that run at all hours. We're also using some batch scripts in GA to call applications via an agent on other servers. It's not ideal, but we are limited with some of the other software.

GoAnywhere MFT eliminated the need for individual SFTP clients, reducing vulnerabilities and providing enterprise-level credentials. It simplifies scheduling and logs transfers, enhancing security by not exposing servers directly. It supports SSO and monitors job intuitively, making our operations smoother and more secure.

What do you like best about the product?
The easy-to-use interface makes it straightforward to configure, update, and secure. The administration guides are comprehensive and provide detailed, step-by-step instructions for everything you need to do. There is also follow-the-sun support coverage from an international support team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I ran into an issue when I needed to verify which encryption ciphers were being used by TLS, because one of our business partners started restricting the cipher suites they supported for encrypted connections. The GoAnywhere support documentation didn’t include steps for how to check this, and it also wasn’t abundantly clear from the interface how to configure it. Fortunately, GoAnywhere’s follow the sun support strategy connected me with a support representative in Sydney, Australia who knew exactly what to do, and the issue was resolved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed an automated way to process incoming and outgoing data transfers. Before GoAnywhere, we had a manual, time-consuming process that relied on having a human in the loop. Thankfully, with GoAnywhere’s MFT automation features, we’ve freed up our employees’ time (1 hour per day) for more important work.

What do you like best about the product?
We use GoAnywhere MFT for process and job automation, moving files, and job scheduling. It has drastically improved efficiency and surprised us with how versatile and useful it is. I love that it integrates with many different platforms and is really user-friendly. I like the job logging, which makes it easy to audit file-level actions, and the change management/change tracking features that help us see when or who made changes. The platform generally has good reliability. The initial setup was extremely easy, and I appreciate being able to set up resources once and reference them by name in GoAnywhere jobs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software comes out of the box with a Derby database, which is powerful, but has limitations for growth and performance. We are at the point where we have outgrown the Derby database, and have experienced a few reliability issues because of it. For example, the database recently became corrupted for no apparent reason, but thankfully GoAnywhere MFT's built-in DB backup allowed us to quickly recover a backup copy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GoAnywhere MFT drastically improved our efficiency by automating and scheduling jobs. It's versatile and useful for process automation, job scheduling, and managing file transfers with trading partners.

before using Go Anywhere we were facing a big challenge for sharing and getting data with external user in secure and limited access. More after once we not allowed for sharing via OneDrive for external user, Fater Go anywhere MFT we are very good and easy to manage for sharing and access data with eternal partner and customer.
