Over-promised / Under-delivered
What do you like best about the product?
We liked the ability to drill-down from a report all the way down to an invoice image. The Smart Rules and Smart Events, although not ideally implemented, are still great additions to the product. API access is available. Documentation and support for developers is very good. User documentation and Help is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
This appears to be an older product that has just been added onto over the years, and is now in need of a total re-write. As a sometime developer myself, and having looked extensively at their object modeling, I can see areas where they appear to have coded themselves into corners, and product enhancements often seem like kludgy add-ons.
Two report writers come free with the base product: The Financial Report Writer and the Custom Report Writer. These are very limited in scope and formatting. For decent reports, you will need to purchase an additional license for the Interactive Custom Report Writer, or use third-party software.
Data privacy is a big concern. With the ever increasing number of data privacy laws, best practice is to limit the user to information for which they have a business need. Intacct does not provide the kind of security permissions granularity to accomplish this. For example, if you need to give a user permission to a particular thing on one entity, they will have that permission on every company to which they have access, and there is not way to prevent it, other than purchasing multiple licenses for the same employee. In a modern ERP, administrators should be able to finely tune user permissions; the more granular control, the better.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Sage Intacct appears to be a good solution for small to medium size companies, as long as they are fairly straight-forward and do not present any unusual challenges nor require best practices for internal data privacy. If your company does not fit this description, approach with caution.

I like the Dimension structure the best, as it provides flexibility for meeting all reporting needs.

There really isn't much to dislike about it.

We have gone completely paperless in our payment processing.
Great Finance/Accounting Software
What do you like best about the product?
I like the easy-to-read display of data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support isn't always able to handle issues and sometimes requires custom work that I don't think should be custom work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can save a lot of time with billing and revenue recognition compared to other software that I have used.
Intacct makes our financial management very modern.
What do you like best about the product?
The robustness of Intacct is what I find most attractive. Its ability to merge account payable, account receivables, cash management, general ledger management modules together ensures that Intacct takes care of most of our core financial management needs, without having to use multiple financial software programs.
What do you dislike about the product?
My exported reports on spreadsheets aren't user-friendly, and the absence of an object-oriented rule builder is a big hole on Intacct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Intacct solves all financial management and problems associated with profit and loss management in my company.

The community page. The articles and people's tips are helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not always the easiest to navigate. Can't get info on journal entries through all modules.

Figuring out the system. The community page has helped as a benefit.
Great for actual financial statements, but doesn't have any features for analysis

Easy to mess up when grouping GL's for example groups and group of groups and group of subgroups etc.

Helping the business keep track of financials to be able to dig in on a per asset level
Not great with Excel or external programs like Certify, Sisense.

The income statements and Balance Sheets are great. At my old company, we didn't have Intacct and we would have a more timely process to update the financials and send them out. Intacct helps with that.
What do you dislike about the product?
Doesn't work as well with outside programs. I can't add as much to the transaction details as we would like. We would like Intacct to do more with outside programs like Sisense and Certify. It can be restrictive at times. It takes a bit of time to get familiar with the reporting and dashboarding capabilities but overall its not the worst. . Some reports are great but some of them aren't as friendly. There are so many dimensions that exist in this software that you cannot run a report on. Intacct is also not the best with managing cash flow so we use excel still for that. The GL pulls you can't dig into live. I would also like a feature to be added to show simplified income statements and balance sheets so that we don't have to put it into excel to calculate. The bill register and grant sections of Intacct aren't up to par. There also seems to be a fair amount of glitches and errors. I also can't seem to save my GL pulls so that next time I can pull them faster without reentering all the report details and requirements. I also don't like how it logs you out often and freezes from time to time and makes you start over with reports.

We are able to generate income statements and balance sheet reports not in excel.

What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to color coordinate my companies since we are a multiple entity company. This platform is very user-friendly for numerous entity companies. I enjoy how easy it is to post various journal entries for each company.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, I have not run into any major issues while using Intacct in our company.

We used to work with Great Plains, and Intacct is much more user-friendly.

Specific workflows require extra clicks, which doesn't make sense.

The accounting process is efficient, and it's easy to track data using custom reports.
Great software but still has some small issues
What do you like best about the product?
I like the custom reports. We've been able to use that to make some critical reports that have allowed us to focus our time elsewhere.

When using the PO piece, I do not like the rounding issues. I have had to go back into a report and try to find the discrepancy because Sage rounded on an invoice causing a change in sometimes $0.10 or more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are very new to sage, and the simplicity of this software has been incredible. Reports that would take us 30-45 minutes to piece together we have been able to write a custom report in Sage, therefor saving a lot of time. It has been a great addition.
