Auditor's Dream
What do you like best about the product?
Paperless and multiple reporting options.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am yet to discover any after 3 years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The in-built internal controls makes it an auditor's dream. Being easily able to create reports and the ability to research back up documentation all within the system is amazing and saves so much time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a potential customer make sure you thoroughly understand all the modules offered and take advantage of as many as you can. It can be a one stop solution to include budgeting depending on the detail you need. It's an investment that pays off.
Super Powerful Tool and Amazing Support
What do you like best about the product?
I love how customizable reports and structure is. We used Quickbooks before transitioning over to Sage Intacct and we loved how much was available to us through Intacct.
What do you dislike about the product?
I will say, I think that it took a lot more training to understand all the functionalities than I would have liked. There were definitely functions that were not so intuitive that could be made easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to customize reports for different departments that we weren't able to do elsewhere and this helped our entire team get on the same page with our financial position and the role that their departments played in the company's overall financial situation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would say that Intacct is a great tool but you have to invest in training. If you are looking just to keep up books and generate simple reports, Intacct is costly and time intensive and may not be the best choice.
Sage Intacct
What do you like best about the product?
The software has many add on's to keep up with our growing business.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface is not as updated as some other mainstream accounting packages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to automate our accounting processes by using Sage Intacct. It's features improve our processes and make our cycle more efficient.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend this product to any nonprofits seeking a more robust system.
Best Change We Ever Made
What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is intuitive and clean. We like the ability to customize how to use the system through the transaction definitions without having a programmer change our ERP.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing right now. We are only using the basic application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Timely financial statements. Total transparency among our team.
Disappointed by the lack of capabilities, automation and advanced functionality
What do you like best about the product?
The system is fairly quick to open up and process data. We have moved from multiple Quickbooks files, and the Intacct interface is like working with software on your local machine.
Intacct does allow multi-entity functionality, though it seems a bit contrived.

What do you dislike about the product?
We have just finished our implementation after a number of months. The process was not great at all. Once the system was configured, we realized that the implementation team had left out some vital information about how the system works, and we essentially had to redesign everything and go live a month later than hoped.
We had three different implementation specialists during the process. It was started with us filling out "use case templates" with little explanation and no real relationship to the way our company does business. That process
Now that we are using Intacct for just over a month, I have realized that it lacks some basic essentials. These are truly intuitive aspects that one would expect in a system that promotes itself as one that promotes better efficiency and workflow. Nothing is automated. NOTHING
Intacct cannot import bank transactions,. Each payment made and received must be entered into the system manually and individually. Previously in Quickbooks, I could enter a full month of transactions in a matter of a couple of hours. This is a significantly more burdensome process. I will either have to hire a new accountant or pay for an add-on service to simply get back to the level of productivity we had with Quickbooks!
Our company is a healthcare company with thousands of customers. We receive batch payments from insurance companies, but there is no way in the system to receive payments from one party (insurance company) and apply the payment to another party (the insured customer). The only solution we have been given by sage is to enter a credit memo for the payer and a debit memo for each of the customers in a batch. This is triple the burden that we had in Quickbooks. Again, we probably will need to hire another accountant or two or purchase some third party application to facilitate the payments we receive.
Customers can be set up as parent-subsidiary, but there doesn't seem to be any advantage in doing so, because there is no actual relationship other than the ability to create a custom report that sorts parent and subsidiary. Even that process is so complicated that you need an IT specialist just to write the report.
The only way to import transactions is by journal entry. The problem with this is that Journal entries don't affect AR or AP. So, if you have dozens of payments received and import your bank data by journal, then your AP and AR agings and subledger won't tie to your GL anymore.
Sage seems to over-promis and under-deliver. The sales team eliminated some modules of the system in the sales process in order to make it cheaper than the competition. At this point, we have spent around $60,000 for implementation and the first year. This is a big investment for our company, and we are already having to solve significant problems because of the limitations of the system and create work-arounds.
There may be some limited solutions to these issues, but we have been warned that anything offered by Sage to provide a work-around or solution is going to be very expensive.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have not been given any satisfactory answers to the dislikes mentioned above. The only benefit we have realized is the ability to generate combined (not consolidated) reports.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You need to do serious due diligence on this system. Don't let the sales team try to gloss over anything. If you are looking for automated processes, you should probably look elsewhere. This is more manual processes than Quickbooks. In some cases, the functionality is much worse than Quickbooks!
Second time around
What do you like best about the product?
Literally being able to access data from anywhere. I approved checks while in Ireland, once.
What do you dislike about the product?
The report writing is a little complicated sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Approvals, electronic check signing, fast easy imports from other softwares.
Electronic approvals solved
What do you like best about the product?
We have complex approval workflows with multiple levels. As the fiscal agent for multiple funding sources, agencies, and clients we were able to track and convert to a fully paperless, electronic workflow. This has cut processing time by at least 65%. Tracking data by non-natural accounts and multiple dimensions has been a game changer for us. We are continuously finding new ways to improve and gain efficiencies with the robust features. As the CFO, I want answers fast and I'm able to get them using my dash boards.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any real downsides. The more staff are trained and utilize the features, the more you get.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Efficient workflows and increased access to information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Invest resources into a quality implementation
Satisficed with our new software
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part is how detailed you can record your transactions. You can assign a certain department, class, location, job, you can even create any kind of custom fields for any of these dimensions. That will help you to create a variety of reports. I feel like this feature just makes your books very clean and organized.
The other benefit I would like to point out is uploaded. You can easily upload a large number of Bills, Invoices, Journal Entries using templates. It's been a lifesaver. No more double work,.

What do you dislike about the product?
Building custom or financial reports is such a complicated matter. You need to do a lot of work on the background even before you start creating your report and it all needs to be deeply planned and organized. You need to spend time on creating account groups, dimension groups, groups of groups just to be able to use certain accounts and dimensions in your reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The system helped us to reduse a lot of manual work. As well as clear out some storage space because now we can keep a lot of our paperwork electronically right in the system
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it. It's better than anything there is on the market
First time being on Intacct, very happy with the product
What do you like best about the product?
Drill down functionality, through AP postings to the actual invoice.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how some of the reports work, I don't like how it produces another tab with the report on it. I also find some of the navigation difficult - looking for a back button when I need to close out of the newly generated report tab and go back to a different tab to rerun a new report with different parameters.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The credit card processing with 2CP - the followup collections and automation around that has been a big help to our collections process. We aren't even using the full functionality but hope to down the road.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you know your company's full requirements for what you are trying to accomplish near and long term when making a switch in accounting systems. Everything doesn't need to go live at once so focus in the areas where you can get the biggest impact in the shortest amount of time and Intacct allowed us to do that. Need to ensure the system can grow with you and meet your needs as the business grows as well as when standards change - like ASC 606.... Finding a good implementation partner is key in assessing what is possible and getting the most functionality out of your new system.
Multiple Entity Heaven....
What do you like best about the product?
Sage Intacct allows us to have a single general ledger for multiple entities, new entity setup is a snap. Intercompany transactions can be done without worry about doing the back-end transactions. Balancing takes minutes where it once took two days. Automated approval process makes Accounts Payable much more efficient and less time intensive. Reclass feature saves on journal entries. The attachments allow us to be mostly paperless - no more pulling invoices/reconciliations, etc. Memorized transactions save time and create checklists for month end entries. The ability to upload invoices and journal entries makes large entries/invoices a snap!
What do you dislike about the product?
The financial reporting leaves much to be desired. Rollup and consolidations are difficult to set up and the sheer number of account groups, books, etc is very time intensive. Changes must be done very carefully or other reports end up corrupted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The online a/p approval process has saved us lost invoices, time waiting on approvals, and streamlined the payment process. Intercompany transaction functionality has saved days of balancing at month end. Attachments make hunting for documents and pulling files a thing of the past! Reclass ability allows us to modify a paid invoice and code properly, increasing accuracy by providing historically accurate data. The memorized transaction and upload features for journal entries and invoices make large data entries simple and done in a matter of minutes! Templates are simple to use, easy to set up and upload. Customizable invoices allow us to modify invoices to reflect entity names. The system overall has allowed us to streamline, increase accuracy and saved countless hours of extra work! We LOVE this software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you are a multi-entity business with expansions planned, this software is for you! The automation and time saving features have been a game changer for our company.
