I like the number of offerings and the help that Commvault provides.

I'm not sure that I have a downside specifically. We are exploring the iSeries module and keeping an open mind. We have heard concerns.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Secure storage and encrypting data. Currently focussed on immutability.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease om management and configuration, and the full suite of tools that can be used from a single interface. We manage multiple data centers from a single console, and it is very easy to identify and resolve any failed backup or flash replication jobs.
What do you dislike about the product?
For a state agency, with limited funds, the one drawback is the cost of licensing. CommVault does offer a great EDU discount program. However, the results and peace of mind you get from knowing that your data is protected faw outweighs the cost

CommVaault helps us maintain an efficient backup infrastructure that stretches across multiple datacenters. This is done through a single interface, and is much more efficient than our old Java based NetBackup tools.

How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is easy. The deployment depends on the size of the project but usually takes a few hours. For the deployment, there is a console ID that needs to be implemented on the customer side. I rate the initial setup a ten out of ten.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The solution is expensive. However, there are no additional costs involved. I rate the pricing a five out of ten.
What other advice do I have?
I would recommend my clients to choose Commvault's accessible license. I rate the overall solution a nine out of ten.

We have many different workloads and Commvault protects them all.

Commvault has it's share of bugs and requires contstant trouble shooting.

Commvault allowed us to consolidate all of our previous data protection infrastructure into one vendor solution.

What do you like best about the product?
Very good support sturcture. Their product is very comprehensive once you get to know it. They are very willing to help when you need support to fix an issue that you are having

It takes quite a while to gain enough knowledge to be proficient in supporting this product. Once you gain the knowledge then the product

The current backup infrastructure product is the only backup company we use today. Their product helps us with our DR and SLA requirements.

What do you like best about the product?
Commvault is tried and true regarding legacy backup designs, but it is also industry-leading technology for backing up new spaces like hybrid and cloud. Commvault can be as simple as you need or as comprehensive as you want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Commvault's strength is also its weakness. It's a powerful platform, but I would never classify Commvault as "easy." However, Commvault has a fantastic certification program that can get anyone up to speed on the latest features, functions, and best practices.

Commvault is an end-to-end solution for data protection and disaster recovery, but it can do even more. Commvault makes auditing a breeze with its built-in reporting and available data analytics.
Years of Reliability!
What do you like best about the product?
Any time you have an issues Support is great at helping you get the issues resolved in a timely manner. I have never not been able to restore a file. I have used my different backup vendors over the years and Commvault would always be my choice moving forward.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't really say there is anything I dislike. All backup software have their hitches, but Commvault has the least.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Metalic cloud is one of the most cost effective solutions I have used. Backing up to AWS was 3x the cost.
Good for busy admins and companies with common IT solutions setup
What do you like best about the product?
It's very handy and easy to set up. Software/Solution is stable and does its job well. We have replaced previous backup solution with Metallic and we are very pleased about it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not Commvault; not everything is supported by now (but most of the most common setups is). In general, it's easy to use, but in some cases, Commvault (base product) knowledge is helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeps most of the backup infra out of our sight, which allows us to avoid management, patching etc. It supports a lot of SaaS solutions and native cloud ones, what's very handy in modern environments.
Very complex and power product. Still learning after a few years!

Great support. As a very large customer, we push the limits of what this product can do and have hit snags on occasion. Support has been great! One product to rule them all.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe that it's so complex with so many options and features. Command Center is still not as capable as the Console GUI.

Consolidating all other backup products to Commvault.
