Product Overview

This is the Beta version of the AlmaLinux OS, that is not available anymore. Please use instead the stable version of AlmaLinux 8, that is currently available here: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B08R14SDQT

Launched with the code-name Project Lenix, AlmaLinux is an open-source, community-driven project that intends to fill the gap left by the demise of the CentOS stable release. AlmaLinux is a 1:1 binary compatible fork of RHEL 8 and it is built by the creators of the established CloudLinux OS.

This is a minimal AlmaLinux 8 Beta image, mainly used as a common base system on top of which other appliances could be built and tested. It contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up a SSH Server and allow users to login. Cloud-init, as well as the AlmaLinux security updates available at the release date are included.

Root login is disabled and only the 'ec2-user' account is allowed to connect using ssh public key authentication.

Built using AlmaLinux 'Minimal Install' group of packages and a single 8 GiB instance volume. Both root partition and the corresponding filesystem are automatically extended if selected volume is bigger than the default one.

This AlmaLinux AMI is ENA enabled.
