RHEL recommendation

  • April 29, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a long-standing secure and robust operating system that is fit for development, test, user acceptance testing and production environments in an enterprise environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike, however, if I was to critique this version of Linux it would be that getting access to support at a reasonable price may be challenging when you need it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The lightweight secure and robust elements of Red Hat Enterprise Linux allow us to deploy our container workloads to all of our environments including production.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for an enterprise operating system that is well-proven, robust, secure and reliable in multiple environments, Red Hat Enterprise Linux is definitely a choice you should consider.

RHEL The only enterprise grade Server OS when it comes to reliability.

  • April 26, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. Stability with the LTS Releases which means the server is good to run for years.
2. Selinux which is a real game-changer
3. In my previous organization I was using RHEL for hosting Oracle Database and no other OS came close when it boils down to support on the infra level.
4. Hosting a Production Database requires security and RHEL is unbeatable.
5. RHEL has a flexible subscription i.e., the licence can be transferred from 1 server to another or even a virtual one, furthermore the patches and updates are all part of the subscription.
6. RHEL's training program is simply amazing, you just pay a small amount for the infinite possibilities you can open with that training specifically RHCSA
What do you dislike about the product?
1. There is no perpetual licence fee, you have to renew the subscription every year.
2. Although the subscription fee is transferable but it's still on the higher side for startups and small scale industries, the basic subscription fee is less than $500 but for premium support it's more than $1000.
3. The upgrades can be painful
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had to deploy Oracle Database for one of the clients that had a very specific security requirement, and they wanted all the solutions with premium support so there was no secure and robust choice than Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a server operating system that is secure, stable, robust, enterprise-grade and has very proactive support to deploy your applications on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux is the one-stop solution to it.

For beginners, it is quite difficult understand the features and it will take more time to understand how to use. Once if we get familiar with it, it will be very easy and effective.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this for running operations and launching softwares very quickly and effectively. While handling large files other os take more time but where in Red hat linux, it will be very quick and saves more time and features are more in this.

What do you like best about the product?
The red Har Enterprise Linux is very easy to use after you understand the commands. It will save so much time and complication. When we are sharing data over the multiple servers it's better to use the Red Hat Linux Enterprise
What do you dislike about the product?
The Red Hat Linux Enterprise is best at its level, there is nothing to dislike about it. As per the business requirement, it has many use cases which can help us to meet our expectations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Red Hat Enterprise Linux for hosting our SAP applications. We have multiple servers in our environment and Red Hat Enterprise Linux makes it easy to share data across all these servers efficiently.

It a great OS and very useful. It gives a great hands on experience when using terminal.

What do you like best about the product?
Its a go-to OS when hosting websites, or for Jenkins/Docker and other dev related work. I use tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, httpd, OpenStack, Elastic Search.
What do you dislike about the product?
The drawbacks are not much but few things that I can mention is that its not very interactive as Windows or MacOS. Also lags at times.RHEL is often slow to offer newer packages, favoring stability over newness.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Whenever I have to host a website or setup OpenStack it is the best OS. Also the minimal installation setup saves RAM and resources and can be used for more dev related use cases.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be familiar with Terminal and be open to learn it. Its very handy.

Redhat comes always first when we think about Secure and Reliable OS

  • March 01, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Redhat is the best operating system for both the client and server sides. its Enterprise version support is awesome and good for our scalable and high-traffic application. OS security is always on high on Redhat, we can get its updates and security patches on regular basis. All the server management tools are available in the RHEL and the awesome part is its 'YUM' and 'RPM' repository which is very fast and easy to use for installing, updating, and uninstallation of library or application within Redhat OS.
What do you dislike about the product?
RHEL is slightly very heavy because of its highly scalable, Reliable, and Secure OS but it is not easy to operate like other Linux distros. Sometimes it takes time in rebooting process and the package version update should come first on RHEL.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are migrating our windows based infra to Linux-based infrastructure and for that, we have purchased a licensed version of Redhat (RHEL), have installed it on VMware, and completed our infrastructure for high availability. It's easy to install because of the kind of support we get from the RedHat team. Through package manager, it was easy to install a web server in it and cron job made our routine job hassle-free.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Better for Secure, Reliable, and massive scalable OS and better for web servers either for database or application. highly recommend.

A great tool for every need

What do you like best about the product?
RHEL is a tool used for deploying codebases and works as a server to the development team. It's highly customizable and can run any type of codebase/software for you. Apart from that, you can run the processes, schedule cron jobs, and the server will take care of it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't find anything particularly annoying but sometimes, if you make a configurational mistake, it's hard to track things because there is no UI. Everything is command-based. If a person is used to UI it will be a steep learning curve
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
RHELs are running as part of our infrastructure and the following are the issues we are solving with it
1. Our codebase runs of linux
2. The product pipeline uses multiple open source tool like kafka cassandra. these are also runs on RHELs
3. RHEL is best suitable server for us, it saves cost and gives flexibility to run multiple processes
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are someone looking for in-house infrastructure and already have the configuration decided. You can surely go for RHEL. It supports customization as per your needs and can support your usescases easily

Very New to Redhat Linux

  • February 09, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The entire Operating System and the Kernal concept are the best in Redhat.
Moreover, the easiness in Command Line Interface and performance is the Feather in the Crown.
What do you dislike about the product?
I was a Windows OS guy. By overlooking the Linux Kernal Platform, initially, I thought it was challenging to work with despite the performance. But later, while getting hands-on and certification in RedHat Linux, I became a fan of RH Linux.
So, I have nothing to dislike in this RH Linux.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our Automic Automation Engine and Service Manager has been deployed and maintained in the RedHat Openshift Platform.
Client up-gradation and Patching becomes easy while using this environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compared to other Operating systems, Redhat Enterprise Linux is best in providing performance. It is easy to use in Command Line Interface Mode.

Very good operating system with high level security.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of proprietary software,
