RedHat Enterprise Linux makes for a wonderful server platform. Once you have it set up, there is very little interaction necessary, you can just let it run.

red hat as a secure engine for databases

  • December 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
red hat was the first distribution to use the rpm engine to synthesize packages in a more efficient way, providing support unlike other operating systems, the red hat community is one of the active maas, being this mainly used for base engines of data for security and user-level support provided by this community, it should be noted that the rpm package analysis is for its support in libraries or repository libraries.
What do you dislike about the product?

their script is different from other operating systems such as for installing packages, rest libraries everything is fine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
in datacenter environments it is widely used for its security layer at the firewall level and good management of database engines and the support provided by it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Within the considerations in the network task viewer hat is the most stable, its installation of rpm packages is one of the best for me since the installation and update of its repositories is automatically, once learned their sentences are makes its configuration very easy in server environments and data centers.

RedHat Enterprise for Small Business

  • December 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like is the flexibility and the robustness of the system, you can use it for different scenarios or applications and you can customize it to your needs even after the installation. I like that RedHat is a company with good prestige in the area and they offer a solid and secure Operating System.
What do you dislike about the product?
The way the licensing is managed. I guess they can have a better way to manage that because sometimes is very difficult administer servers without the license to do updates or install new packages. I don't like that RedHat is focusing more in other areas and I think they are behind in the new features o the OS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use RHEL for file server, print servers, mail server, web server, and almost anything for a small business necessities. We use Linux for a vast range of applications, from file servers to virtualization, but since CENTOS offers the same distribution as RedHat, we are moving some applications to CENTOS.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I can recommend to use CENTOS distribution if you don't need the RHEL support, it is the same distribution but without pay for the extra support.

awesome operating system

What do you like best about the product?
i like the command line is by far better than the msdos from windows , also they have a nice graphic interface with all the stuff you need , you have more control of your files and it gives you more options to customize than other linux distros , also the hardware requirements are lower than microsoft windows servers and the yum feature to download software works really great , also another think i really like is that you can diagnose any software issues with just a one single command like , if you know you way around linux you can get a lot from this operating system
What do you dislike about the product?
well i think i dislike we need to pay for it , it is supposed to be GNU like the rest of the linux distros , for example fedora and centos are similar products that are for free , other think i dont like and is related are the subscription if you stop paying you are not able to download anything .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
server related problems that we can have with regular windows servers , also by using the command line interface and scripting we can schedule daily backups and even routines using a cronjob , , also we had less issues with Red hat virtual machines than the ones we had with windows .
Recommendations to others considering the product:
is more secure and uses less resources , also is really reliable in all aspects

Safe, Secure and powerful

  • October 28, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Redhat Linux is one of the most robust operating solutions available, coupled with the ability to further secure the OS to the CIS recommended security settings further strengthens its security posture and robustness.
What do you dislike about the product?
Linux has a lot of options and configurations, getting it right can be trial and error if you are learning and the community isn't as large as the Windows community, that said, there is plenty of resources out there as well as various support options from different vendors. I would recommend subscribing to a well know support channel such as Unbreakable Linux.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Robustness and stability are the main reasons, Redhat can run for years without a reboot assuming you are running decent commercial software, that said you need to keep the system up to date with the latest patches as well as kernel updates that tend to require a reboot. Make sure you choose a decent antivirus for the server as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Important to configure to the CIS template and use SeLinux if your software allows for it.

  • October 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Clear and very good documentation. Stable without any crashes in our case. Very good environment support and community. Stable stable stable and secure ... if it's working don't touch. Flexible license system a special in cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unfortunately some case i found. They crash my world when change SysV to systemd... but everything change ... ( " Evolve or Die ") .. They change more interesting things in 7 release but finally we can live with that if of course you adapt. Yep we can said one more thing of course price this product and support is expensive...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Yep we run oracle database real cluster and warehouse on this operating system. We resolve all our instability environment problem. That was our main case i think.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's depend of your needs but yes. For some part of environment you should chose this Operating System.
