What do you like best about the product?
I have been using GitLab for a very long time, and here it is easy to create the branch and share the code with other teammates. It provides features like code versioning, continuous integration and deployment, and review code before the merge. Its user interface is excellent and easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not provide better user permissions and control. Sometimes after their update, it is tough to find the particular feature. Pricing is too high in comparison to others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use to deploy the code on GitLab and maintain our repository here. It ensures the safety of our code. With Gitlab, we can make our repo private in case of any issue. It helps us in the automated integration and deployment of our code.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
GitLab is an efficient and excellent tool for maintaining our code in different branches and keeping the master branch clean. Also, it has robust CI/CD pipelines. So in my terms, you must try this at least once.

I like the way they show code changes, Also the 2FA which improves security.
What do you dislike about the product?
If someone reviews your code and commented on it it is hard to find how to check that part file structure is not working there that I don't like
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing code repository that gives I realized that I can see whole development phase from starting to the endpoint.
Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great AMI.

Nice app.
Have no idea why others could not find documentation under "Additional Resources" on the AMI page.
HOWTO: https://about.gitlab.com/blog/2021/06/30/how-to-stand-up-gitlab-in-awsmp/

Anyway, it seems like AMI lacks for SSL support.

What do you like best about the product?
I have used azure DevOps for more than two years but am not a fan of it likes GitLab most
1. Gitlab runner/agent - Excellent agent; we incorporated helm and Kubernetes continuous deployment
2. Gitlab pipelines - Support all plugins primarily through a docker container
3. Gitlab webhook triggers your pipelines in few seconds
4. Gitlab repository - we have put all our repositories into it. Secured and protected repository
5. Gitlab ci/cd setting, we can store all our credentials and governance them well
6. Gitlab build engines - no words, building all docker images and pushing to GitLab registry
7. Gitlab registry - docker registry, npm registry, maven registry, helm registry.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once upon a time, it is open-source, now need to pay for service
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have managed our repository, pipelines, ci/cd, access control, all stack holders to sign on deployments through GitLab.

Excellent for Version Control

What do you like best about the product?
I have used multiple tools in the past four years, but GitLab was one of the best among all.
The thing that makes Gitlab apart from other tools is the great UI.
Its navigation bar shows valuable items for quick navigation.
The UI for diff of the files is one the easiest to interpret and increases productivity.
The charts make it easy to visualize the progress like burnup/burndown charts.
The documentation for implementing the CI/CD is fantastic.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a little exprensive.
Lots of feature does confuse the user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use GitLab in my organization to collaborate with other team members/developers and review the code.

Gitlab: Future of DevOps

  • September 08, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's not just a source code repository hosting platform.

It's a DevOps platform bagged with source code repository hosting, Continuous integration, Continuous delivery, Artifact management, Package management, Container register, SAST, Issue tracking and management, Source code vulnerability scanning and much more.

Very good role based access control and isolation.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are two offerings, Self managed and SaaS one.

Cost of both type of offering are same which I don't like, cost of self managed Gitlab should be less.

There are some resource limitations if we go with SaaS version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosting source code repositories.
Build and deployment automation using Gitlab CI.
Managing various DevOps tools server credentials.
Storing container images, Artifacts and Packages (NPM, PyPi, Maben)
Issue tracking.
Deploying web application on Kubernetes clusters.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's not just a source code repository hosting platform.

It's a DevOps platform bagged with source code repository hosting, Continuous integration, Continuous delivery, Artifact management, Package management, Container register, SAST, Issue tracking and management, Source code vulnerability scanning and much more.

I strongly recommend to use Gitlab.
It's super valuable.
