Sitecore 10 Upgrade with SearchStax - Smooth Sailing

What do you like best about the product?
We were tasked with a major upgrade from Sitecore 9.x to 10.x, with this came a shift to SOLR Cloud from Azure Search Indexes.

The shift to SOLR from Azure was very smooth as we decided to go ahead and engage with the Customer Success SearchStax Team and Onboarding team.

The support team were responsive and gave references to a vast knowledgebase which allowed us to pull off the upgrade within a short timeframe without a hitch.

Their experience with the Sitecore platform was key to the smooth process and we have found the shift to SearchStacks beneficial when it comes to search speeds and sorting functionality.

Would recommend engaging the customer success team if undertaking any large projects, as it was good to check in periodically as to issues experienced and stepts as to resolve. Identifying whether it is the application based issue or otherwise a limitation with the Service provided by SearchStax.
What do you dislike about the product?
There were some minor teething issues with regards to timezone, however we were able to come up with a working arrangement after the first few weeks.

Otherwise there was little issue encountered.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Indexing with Azure had some limitations as to funcitonality, we decided to shift to SOLR and SearchStax was recommended by our business partners in Sitecore space. Indexing speeds have improved and we also find that we are no longer experiencing some indexing issues that was occurring previously with Azure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely engage the Customer Success Team

Prepurchase also provided big discounts.

They were flexible in enabling deployments based on our development timelines so that we weren't stuck paying for anything we weren't using.

What do you like best about the product?
We switched to SearchStax and SOLR from Azure Search when we upgrade Sitecore from 9.2 to 10.1. We xperienced:
1. Excellent on boarding process.
2. Weekly check in meetings leading up to go-live.
3. Fast resoltion of issues and answers to questions.
4. 24/7 support.
5. More accurate ordering or seach items than Azure search.
6. Consistant search results.
7. Faster search results.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't experienced too much we've disliked but if I were to be picky:
1. We'd like the ability to clear the search indexes on our own. Our Dev environment was under specked (probably our fault), and we kept running out of disk space, meaning our rebuilds failed.
2. The ability for anyone in our organisation to view the details of any support tickets logged by anyone within our organisation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for our course seach page, newsroom articles and vaious other seach components.

What do you like best about the product?
I like it as I don't need to manage the service. The search tax created all the instance for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be helpful if it can make an installation package to easy to install in sitecore.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We don't need to support on-prem environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Support solr in on-prem environment is very complicated, it is much easier to use cloud service.

What do you like best about the product?
Not having to Create and Manage our own Solr Cloud Clusters is amazing
What do you dislike about the product?
Would be great to have a UI to manage the upload and set up of new Cores rather than command line
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deploying Sitecore solutions into an "as a service" world is pointless if you have to have a self-managed Solr Cluster in the solution. SearchStax fills that gap for us as an "as a service" offering to complete the entire ecosystem being an As a Service play.

What do you like best about the product?
The onboarding process and their support are best, although we need it relatively less.
What do you dislike about the product?
Till now, there is no trouble at all, so nothing for now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sitecore index, which is an essential part of that setup and that something we don't need to worry about at all.

Quick switch between the Live and DR environment can be improvement area.

We were having an on-prem Solr environment and were facing challenges in maintaining it on our own.
Searchstax helped us by providing Solr as a service to us. they easily and quickly upgraded to the newer version at our request.

High Performance and Highly Scalable

What do you like best about the product?
The Scalability is the key we chose Searchstax. Our website content growth exceeded our expectation and the search storage was running low. The support team was able to allocate more storage with minutes, at a very reasonable fee. The performance is also supreme....think of it liek the AWS RDS.......it's a managed service so there's no need to manage/patch server, so I can focus on the development.
What do you dislike about the product?
none. Everything works the way they should.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We chose Searchstax to minimize the development complexity. As a managed service, we don't have to spend time on the server administration. Also, the pricing is cheaper than running a dedicated server and a RDS instances, so this is also a cost-saving opportunity.

What do you like best about the product?
As a company SearchStax works with us as a partner rather than simply as a vendor. By that, they show genuine interest in our business and fully understand our needs to operate a SOLR environment independently. The team at SearchStax is fantastic with their communication and problem-solving skills. Their recommendations have been spot-on such that we have a high level of trust in their advice.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have no complaints about SearchStax. From the start, we had a clear understanding of the capabilities of their products. Throughout the deployment process, we had hands-on professionals working with our technical staff. The team here raved about the experts at SearchStax. Now that we're in a steady-state, we receive immediate and helpful responses anytime we have questions or requests.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we look to upgrade our software, SearchStax was right there with a recommendation on the compatible SOLR version to use. They recommended a deployment process and followed through with emails on their progress. Every vendor we use should follow the same model and example that SearchStax uses.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the savings to your team with not having to manage, maintain and troubleshoot your SOLR farms. It has been a substantial cost saving for us. We have no regrets working with SearchStax!

What do you like best about the product?
We have found SearchStax to be the easiest way to get a high-performance Solr implementation running, which is critical for a modern, best-practice Sitecore implementation. It can be quite difficult and time-consuming to get a proper Solr implementation set up on one's own, involving many different moving pieces and specific pieces of knowledge which are not common. SearchStax has lifted that burden and made it very easy for us to quickly get a properly configured environment up and running, from very basic to extremely robust.
What do you dislike about the product?
As an implementing partner, I have found it critical to be familiar with the platform to be able to answer the questions from clients around cost, security, ownership, etc. I strongly believed a managed Solr solution wins out on all fronts; however, a first-time implementer may face some questions from clients around the benefits. SearchStax has been extremely supportive in this regard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implementing Solr at a scale in a secure, performant, and resilient way while also keeping costs down is extremely difficult. Without an in-depth knowledge of Solr itself, as well as the necessary supporting infrastructure, the resulting implementation will be

What do you like best about the product?
Searchstax has revolutionized how we run our Solr stack!

We do a lot with solr, our entire website is run from it, not search - i mean the entire site. We also use Learning to Rank to personalise the experience for our customers.

The searchstax team have helped us to not worry about this critical platform for our business and to get on doing the fun stuff like creating and testing models. I honestly cannot think of a problem at all - we were hosting in AWS ourselves before, and I would never go back
