What do you like best about the product?
It is a phenomenal asset for those of us who utilize school online. The ease of access and the ability for real time grading and communication is incredible.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only part I dislike is the discussion boards. There should be a better avenue and format.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving all of my scholastic needs and learning how to utilize this tool for my own students.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get to know this site. This is the future of online learning. Take all of the time you can to familiarize yourself with this program. There are so many tools that go unutilized.

Blackboard Review

  • April 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about blackboard is that it creates a virtual learning environment for classes that are taken online through a university. It also is visually appealing and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Blackboard is that sometimes there are glitches in the systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard allows universities to transfer from traditional face-to-face classrooms to virtual online learning for convenience and ease.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend universities and high schools to use this software to show that their organization is flexible in terms of learning and classroom interaction. This may a useful tool to use in a learning environment for those who do not feel comfortable sharing ideas in a classroom but virtually instead.

Blackboard keeps me organized

  • April 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Blackboard has a robust gradebook where I can have weighted grades, drop low grades, categorize assignments, and keep my students up to date on how they are doing. I use the collaboration tools (especially the discussion board) on a regular basis.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that Blackboard does not remember my preferences for setting up things like assignments. I use the same settings almost all the time, and it would be nice if the system had a "standard settings" option so that I do not have to click the same boxes over and over again.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are training students to be ready for the real world. The real work requires technology so they are learning how to operate in the internet world.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a fairly intuitive program that keeps classes organized.

What do you like best about the product?
I feel it is very easy to organize your classroom materials, keep track of students work and grading with rubrics.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a lot of design flexibility. I would like to be able to add at least two columns so people don't have to scroll so much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are making more online courses available in higher education. It is easy for students to access and teachers to access anywhere they are.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you look and try out everything that they have to offer. To many times people don't try out the tools.

Blackboard Learning Management System

  • October 25, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard has many good uses. For me, I enjoy being able to submit assignments and develop quizzes that can be completed through the program. I also like how the program puts everything thing you need in one location for each class, including calendars, notes from teachers, direct access to email to teachers and other students, grades, video, audio, and specific assignments.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am sure they are working on getting the glitches out, but the system is often having do go down for updates on a regular basis. I also dislike how the system can be very sensitive at times and if you accidentally click off of an assessment or lose internet connection, you have to get the test restarted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This program helps to put everything in one location. It also helps to eliminate the use of many sheets of paper and it helps to eliminate unnecessary meetings for one on one meetings.

Support Robust Teaching & Learning with Veteran LMS

  • October 25, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard is a well-established learning management system with a long history of commitment to teaching & learning. The LMS offers a wide range of features and tools to support personalized learning and customized delivery of content, communication, and assessment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is starting to show its age and sometimes it take a few extra clicks (vs. drag/drop) to get things done. Data isn't always accessible without the right tools to query or license to extract. However, recent roadmap presentations reveal some promising developments
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're reducing our need to print out class materials by going green and posting documents in course shells. We're also meeting a parking problem by offering hybrid courses so classes can share physical space. Finally, we're reaching out to students who want to go to our campus, but can't because it's too far away, by offering online classes. Blackboard site is hosted, so we are benefiting from a very stable environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Speak often with your Customer Success Advocate, who is there to help ensure your institution benefits from all the resources, tools, and services associated with your contract and the Blackboard community at large. Take or teach a class that uses Blackboard and understand the role of the LMS in ensuring student success. Join your local Blackboard Users Group and ask questions, get feedback, and network with others in the community. Don't be afraid to open tickets or ask other Blackboard users for ideas and support.

Great platform for course content management.

  • October 07, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As an educator and a student pursuing an advanced degree, Blackboard is essential for long-distance course content management and discussion.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the lag in the time it takes to upload documents.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This solves the problem of a lack of collaboration platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend trying other like platforms before deciding on Blackboard, as there may be other features provided by other platforms.

Excellent way to interact with your classes

  • June 27, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard's interface is easy to use and fairly standard from institution to institution. For students, the layout couldn't be more simple and to the point; and for instructors and administrators the customization tools help give class and department pages a personal touch without throwing students for a loop.

The mobile app also makes the Blackboard experience so much easier to interact with classes on the go and allow for students and professors to stay in touch without the need for bulky laptops and the need to search for wifi while out and about.
What do you dislike about the product?
The discussion boards feature could use some fine tuning. Internet Explorer and it's successor Microsoft Edge don't play well with the editing tools and often show correctly spelled words as misspelled and make it almost nearly impossible to fix on the users end.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Students enjoy Blackboard for it's ease of use and our professors and admins love it because of the wonderful grade book and submission features as well as the direct messaging and student database features; which help our professors do almost all of their class related work within the app itself.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've seen other academic software, it doesn't beat Blackboard, not in the slightest. You owe it to your students and employees to give them a one-stop shop that works for them and not against them. Your students pay so much for classes and your instructors give their all day in and day out to teach; why would you give them sub-par software that's hard to use, requires training and re-training and no mobile apps?
