Excellent Project Management Software
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to link sheets, create automation and produce forms that will directly input info into the sheets.
What do you dislike about the product?
No transpose function and can't set a column to time format.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We started using Smartsheet to create Gantt charts for project schedules; this has now evolved into us using it as a full PM tool. This includes managing submittals, proofing documents, storing attachments against relevant line items, and resourcing as required to meet program.

SMARTSHEET
What do you like best about the product?
It works like excel, it uses similar references and formulas. Sheets can be linked to each other and update pretty quickly. I especially like to use Smartsheet when creating project timelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the notifications don't work correctly, and sometimes the page is slow. I have had an issue where i go to copy and paste something, and it pastes old data, so i have to refresh the page

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been able to automated HR processes as time off and vacation requests. Also We have implemented some automation in the hiring process for temporary staff members as we usually hire over 400 temporary staff members per quarter. An automated contract request process brought a lot of efficiency to the HR team making the hiring process easier for all of the areas of our organization. Other area tha has benefit a lot from our smartsheet implmentation is the Ops and Logistics. We have been able to automated several processes in Ops and Logistics department as "field visit resource request" and "emergency funds request". All of these automation have increased our Internal Control and now we are able to be more transparent by showing the organization information to different stakeholders through the use of the Dashboards. With the created Dashboards our audince can have access at a glance and on one site to all of our on the field operations and status of the HR processes. When as an organization we need to quickly collect information from a lot of people our go to is Smarsheet forms to capture that information. After the databases are feed by the forms we can analyze the data, this has made our decision making process more expedite.
Being able to update shared work in real time is a gift.
What do you like best about the product?
I love how I can create reports of all of our data to see exactly what I'm looking for in one place instead of going to several different sheets to review each item.
I love that all of us can have the same sheet or report open and make updates simultaneously. Without worrying about whose notes got saved and whose didn't.
I love that we can send reports out to people to give an overview of what we're working on and how those reports can be edited as quickly as revisions can get requested.
I love that I can favorite my sheets and reports so I don't have to always remember what the sheet or report was called.
I love that I can make the same report for everyone on our team and it show stuff specific to each person on our team.

What do you dislike about the product?
I'm pretty sure the only thing I dislike is the lack of customization when it comes to the multiple drop-down column type as far as I can even think of anything I dislike. We use this column type for a location drop-down column and many of our providers work at multiple locations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We payer credential providers for several clients, and this solves the problem of us being able to do this as a team effectively. When we're using Smartsheet the way we know we should be, then we're all able to jump in and help people on our team who are behind or pick up where people who no longer work with us left off.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of seeing the critical path of all the projects. It is a great communication tool to estimate the time required for the project.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is hard to start a project calendar with the available templates. It is not intuitive to create the sheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it primarily to communicate to upper management the status and lead time of all the projects that lead to the completion. It helps to see and visualize the requirements and why a specific date is expected.

SmartSheet allows small team accomplish big goals by staying organzied and vigilant through multiple touchpoint and communication opportunites.
From a usage pursective, not everyone needs a seat to view the information which makes it an even more valueable tool for those that build.

The learning curve with SmartSheet is time-consuming and with turnover, it can be hard to ensure buy-in and usage during our billing cycles.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are automating for communication. Our teams are able to implement effective record-keeping and provide visual snapshot updates using dashboard.

If you are on a small team, SmartSheet is equipped to help maximize the productivity.

- ability to create automated tasks like sending an email when there's a new row entered (useful when you make an open portal where people can add a new request to the team)

- the ways to present data is not always easy, especially if you want to make it a cardboard
- the different types of licensing sometimes make it confusing who can edit or not a file
- lacking some format automation when having children on a row, it needs a tweak to make a conditional formating
- formatting specific text within a cell is not possible without formatting the whole cell
- the gantt view is ugly, there really should be something done about this, cannot copy paste it in any presentation

Anyone can use it - it's super intuitive.

And since Smartsheet is so easy to use, even the people who have "problem opening pdf" can use it without much trouble.

What do you dislike about the product?
Some file attachment is clunky for some. File attachment isn't bad, but my boss has sometimes missed that I've attached a file to a line. I'd mostly blame him since he tends to overlook things, but some more elegant file-attachment scheme could be helpful.
Also, more automation tools would be great for integration into a ticketing system. For example, if we were to get a new work order, I'd like to automate creating a series of dependents based on what KIND of work order that is. This is a gnit-picky "dislike" though. The rest of the system works pretty great.

Being able to collaborate with teams across space and time has been extremely useful. Being able to quickly communicate with upper management things like schedules, with very clearly shown critical paths, has been invaluable.
Even making upper management understand that certain projects can't be delivered instantly is infinitely useful.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out first - they have a two-week trial period, and you can build a ton of usefulness into those two weeks. Also, Smartsheet is best used in conjunction with other productivity tools - like Trello or Jira or Podio, etc. Smartsheet isn't the ONLY productivity or Project Management product you'll use, but it is one of the best tools for PM.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Smartsheet for my nonprofit
What do you like best about the product?
It has made my nonprofit manageable. We store our board minutes and agenda and keep track and plan our annual rally using forms and then sheets for tracking. I have planned our annual rally 4 recovery in Smartsheet for 3 years now. I love the form feature, dashboard and parent-child feature the best.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like more options for printing only certain rows and columns as opposed to the whole sheet.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solved having to store paper copies of everything nonprofit-related. We store our minutes, agendas, policies, financials, event planning, and more! We solved the collaboration issue for our 844 warmline program but creating a dashboard that contains the links to everything we need access to. By sharing and emailing rows, we cut down on time and tracking of creating emails in an email program. There are so many benefits and uses for Smartsheet that I don't have the time to list!
The recent upgrades are amazing!
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using smartsheet for a few years now, and although we do use it to track everything, with the recent upgrades, we have started to use smartsheet for everything. We have new dashboards and master spreadsheets.
What do you dislike about the product?
I love excel, so I wish it had more excel like features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are tracking a lot of HR related items, including new hires and terms. The new features are allowing us to stay much more organized. We love the feature where every user can create their own filters.

It has a multitude of uses.
