So much better than Google Sheets
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to create timelines and shift them as needed. Provides a very visual way to see the project plans.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no way to link spreadsheets and have them automatically update each other. There is no way to sync it with Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are keeping projects on track and all parties updated on the next steps.

30% Savings in My Time - and Peace of Mind
What do you like best about the product?
The time-saving workflow automation and the "live" reporting are just two things I like best about Smartsheet. These tools alone save me a lot of time and worry! I love how excited others are after learning to use Smartsheet and they personally experience how the program keeps us organized and on task.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is really nothing I dislike about Smartsheet. I'm saving over 30% of my time on repetitive tasks and reporting alone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Smartsheet solved agreement bottle-necking issues. Also eliminated repetitive, mundane reporting tasks. The program is benefiting not only my immediate department, but also other departments with which we interact. We increased our agreement processing by 90% over the last 3-year average. I attribute a large share of that increase to our streamlined work processes built in Smartsheet.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The cost-savings is many times greater than a user license. I shaved approximately 30% of time spent on repetitive tasks and reporting.
Great project management tool!
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that it is totally customizable and easy to use. It is very similar to Microsoft Office, so the learning curve is much quicker. You can quickly create a GANT chart which is great for managing deadlines. I also like the save feature and the option to export the data to Excel or PDF. You also have the option to import from Excel.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not dislike that much. The only thing difficult is the syntax for creating formulas; sometimes it is easier to do within Excel. More training on the formulas might help bridge the gap
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have centralized all our projects in one place, which has made it much easier to manage across the organization. Projects are completed in a timely manner. We are able to track various metrics across different divisions of the organization.
A great place to collaborate
What do you like best about the product?
Creating a Smartsheet for construction schedules is a great way for the whole team (even those not in the field) to see the progress of the house. It's helpful for the purchasing department.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there are too many "clicks" to get to the sheet that you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheet for construction schedules, open issues, and general excel that need to be shared between several people.

What do you like best about the product?
Collaboration capabilities, instant edits, many people can be in the same document at once. The ability to share Smartsheet with people outside of our organization. The ability to see who/when people have accessed the Smartsheet.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not exactly like excel, but similar. Sometimes you can confuse how excel will populate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management - I can tie responsible parties, they can add/edit any time, updates are live. Multiple users can be in the Smartsheet at the same time.
No more excel!
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how easy it is to share sheets with coworkers and communicate so everyone is on the same page. There is a lot of great training tools online and I am finding new uses for SmartSheets regular. It is above and beyond what you can do in excel.
What do you dislike about the product?
Printing sheets is the only thing I find a bit cumbersome. It does take a bit of time to switch over if you've been using excel or other programs. Also getting our other team members on board with a new program took a bit of getting used to.

The most important thing for us was getting our team on the same page and switching over, ensuring everyone was trained and understood how it worked.
Incorporating spreadsheets with Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
Besides all the built-in features, which include robust project tracking capabilities that make day-to-day life as a PMO a lot easier, the possibility to integrate Smartsheet with other tools like Jira has significantly enhanced our efficiency and productivity!
What do you dislike about the product?
I still couldn't identify anything that I would consider bad about Smartsheets, except that it was not very intuitive at first, and it had a bit of a learning curve, especially when it comes to using it in a more advanced way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheet to track who in the team is assigned to which projects, and what is their current progress in each of these projects, allowing us to ensure our deliveries are always on track and within our SLAs. With the Jira integration, we also make it possible for each project assignee to log the time they spent on each project by themselves.

Smartsheet is a software to keep track of your projects, which will have available all the standard project management tools, but it also provides extra features that increase your productivity and your control over your projects.
A good mid-level project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
The Smartsheet team is frequently adding new features to the tool. A recent exciting example is card view which allows the tool to adapt to kanban-forward organizations and teams' needs. The support team is very responsive and proactive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet won't offer as robust of features that you might be used to in more enterprise tools. We could also benefit from more enhanced linkages/integrations to ticket softwares.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used Smartsheet to create executive dashboards for progress on large, enterprise-wide initiatives. The tool allows us to monitor and control progress and display it in a very straightforward way to leadership and customers.
Smartsheet is great in its niche
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has a good set of built-in templates that assist in getting you started right away. The user management function is easy and straight forward. It is simple to invite users to contribute to a sheet. It has all the functions you need for making spreadsheets and I like that you can export the data.
Of course the ability for users to access Smartsheets online from a variety of devices is a fantastic feature and why we chose to use it.

What do you dislike about the product?
When you invite others to collaborate on a sheet the first time, Smartsheet sends emails, in the name of the user, asking you to purchase a license for them. This is irritating and unnecessary.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheets in several parts of our business. The default project management template is comprehensive and includes Gantt chart options. Team members across multiple departments can easily update their tasks which reduced the number of meetings required to keep stakeholders informed.
We use Smartsheets to facilitate communication between our Sales team and the Shipping team. Both contribute information to our Shipping Schedule spreadsheet with incoming inventory freight and outbound shipments to customers. Smartsheets has eliminated waiting for information and phone call interruptions that slow down operations. The Sales team can access the Shipping Schedule on their phone or laptop and have the most up-to-date information while out in the field.
We even use Smartsheets with our customers to make it easier for them to do business with us. One of our large customers is a manufacturer of agriculture equipment. The items they purchase have a 4-6 month long lead time and their production line operates on a just-in-time basis for components. This means their purchasing department needs to have components delivered within a very narrow time period. Smartsheets has been a good solution. It allows them to update the desired delivery date on outstanding purchase orders with notes. Our customer service department is alerted automatically by Smartsheets of any changes to the spreadsheet.

Smartsheet has a very specific niche and it works very well in that niche. Your organization may have other programs that have overlapping capabilities that may reduce the value of Smartsheet. Microsoft Teams is an example as it is bundled with Office 365 which has Excel. MS Teams provides all of the remote access capabilities as well as much more, even the ability to invite guest users from other organizations. It's not as straightforward as Smartsheets, but may be a duplication of what you are trying to achieve. Before proceeding with Smartsheets take a look at the software your organization already uses.
To get the most out of Smartsheets make sure you have your own spreadsheet guru who cans assist your managers and teams to brainstorm ways to improve current processes and forms. Smartsheets is easy to use and having someone who can help your people see things from a little different perspective of what's possible will help you best leverage Smartsheets and better reach the potential improvements of this great product.

User-friendly product with helpful project management tools!
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use has been a great feature for Smartsheets. I love how easily one can transitionsfrom grid view, to calendar view to viewing it in a Kanban card style manner. In the 4 years I have been using the platform, I've found that I've only scratched the surface on the capabilities. In the last year and a half, I've noticed that Smartsheets have expanded their portfolio of services and pre-built dashboards and sheets. Their customer service is strong.
What do you dislike about the product?
The formula development in Smartsheet can be a bit challenging. There are a ton of forums that can help one navigate this. However, more intuitive use of formulas would be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheets to help project manage significant projects in a startup. The projects can be both large and small in scope. We have also begun using their resource management feature which is informative. Additionally, I use it as a tool that can share documents and spreadsheets to various people. Being able to be in the document at teh same time is incredibly useful. I like being able to link cells to other sheets and documents to see a bigger picture.
