Widely positive with a mix of small issues.
What do you like best about the product?
Sigma covers a large range of reporting which is simplified and intuitive once you have the data. It is relatively easy to jump into Sigma with little to no working knowledge and still produce something worthwhile. We like the ease of edit and the ability to have multiple workers change a single workbook or design without too much hassle. Intricate charts and designs are easy to produce and equally easy to modify. We can create new workbooks very quickly once the data is set up properly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Data manipulation within Sigma is not as easy for more complex issues. Some simple things such as column merging, mathematical formulas of data, and slicing are more time-consuming than needed which makes big workbooks for large issues time-consuming to initially set up. For workers who are not as savvy with SQL and other programming languages, this is particularly difficult as a lot of the data needs to be edited and queried first or else there won't be enough resources in Sigma itself for them to deal with the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sigma solves the issues of quick reporting on an array of issues. Once the data is formatted many different teams can easily create workbooks and charts that provide plenty of insight into any issues they might be researching. The flexibility of quick reporting and ease-of-use is the big benefit of using Sigma over other competitors.
Sigma is a simple-to-use dashboard creation tool that can be used by business users of all levels

What do you dislike about the product?
It is not the most intuitive for power users

Visibility with the business for stakeholders. Using creative methods to automate reports and present data in a way that has not been seen before for stakeholders in the company
Powerful and dynamic tool

Allows you to combine multiple data sources to draw cross functional conclusions
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be difficult to understand but just requires team to learn software
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to more quickly identify patterns and issues, thus allowing us to pivot more quickly towards solutions
Sigma Computing
What do you like best about the product?
The interface works well for those who already understand Excel and don't have much SQL experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the performance can be slow, especially if you're not on Snowflake.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great lightweight visualization tool that lets you do 99% of what you generally need in BI. We've gotten more people to explore our data since starting with Sigma because of the more friendly UI than our past tools.
Flexible, SQL-friendly BI tool
What do you like best about the product?
A key feature is the ability to quickly adjust the data flowing into a report/worksheet. Many analyses I do are exploratory and pivoting to a different avenue is easy when the query lives right there. Sigma support is great and always there to help me troubleshoot issues or come up with a creative way to do something.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a worksheet-based tool, sometimes functionality can be limited compared to other BI tools. Graphing and visualizations sometimes can't go that one extra step to show what I need. Also, dashboard filtering can be confusing and not intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sigma helps with all of our analytics and using data to make decisions. As a fast growing organization, our needs, data sources, and questions are continually shifting and it allows us the flexibility to make the changes we need, when we need to. Whether it's reporting on marketing, website, or operational data, the worksheet-based setup is familiar to most end users and enables more democratization of analytics across the board.
One thing to consider is that this review was written prior to rolling out and switching to the new workbook interface. At a high level it seems like a positive focus on end user experience but having not tested it yet, can't confirm the impact of this new functionality.

What do you like best about the product?

What do you dislike about the product?
limitations to visualizations compared to competition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
standardization of story telling, KPIs, demand reports. reduction to BI staff demand by self empowering biz leaders.
Like excel on top of a database
What do you like best about the product?
Making Sigma available to our internal customers has cut down tremendously on simple requests that would previously have been the job of our analytics team. By making our most commonly asked for data available across departments, a much greater portion of the requests our analytics team receives require deeper exploration and thinking.
What do you dislike about the product?
Glitches and issues are not infrequent. Sigma is still new to the game so I can forgive them and only with the global Snowflake outage did we have problems that prevented usage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Sigma primarily for daily and one-off reporting. Most of our users take one or two sources and combine them, filter down and export. We are also building out more and more visualizations with Sigma dashboarding that we previously had to create in Salesforce. The connection from Snowflake to Sigma makes it easy to create a new dataset for reporting or visualization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Onboarding with Sigma has been one of the best decisions our team made. The Sigma team is generally great to work with, quickly answers questions and is great about setting up organization-specific training. We are now pushing 80 users, 60 of them active and it has scaled very well too.
Powerful, Flexible BI Tool
What do you like best about the product?
There's a lot of flexibility. It gives end-users the ability to tap into a database, pull in a CSV for ad-hoc analysis, etc. There are also plenty of training materials and an active support team there to help when necessary.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some quirks around aggregation levels, filtering, etc. that cause it to have a bit of a steeper learning curve. Overall the experience has improved significantly in the last 1-2 years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It significantly improves the amount of time we can update and deliver a standardized report. It also gives us the flexibility to provide custom reporting on a client-by-client basis if the standardized report isn't sufficient.
Amazing BI tool for Data Analysts
What do you like best about the product?
Sigma's data exploration tool is amazing for non-SQL users. Users can quickly join and filter datasets with an Excel-style interface. This process is so fast and smooth that even SQL users often use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Visualizations capabilities are limited compared to other BI tools. Occasinally I find myself exporting data to visualise in another tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sigma is our BI tool. We are using Sigma to create tables, dashboards, and reports to share data throughout our organization (and in some cases with our partners). We also use Sigma to quickly perform adhoc analyses, which can be done by users who have no background in SQL.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Amazing tool for early stage companies. Extremely easy to use and set up. Great customer support. Visualizations are functional but do not have advanced options other BI tools have.
