Online education headed in the right direction
What do you like best about the product?
I love how these lectures are recorded online which means you can go back anytime to revisit the content. This is convenient because in class lectures you can't go back listen to what the professor said. Also, I love the format of the site. It has a modernized look to it and it's easy to search up classes utilizing the categories they provide you.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about it is that I can't reach the professors with questions about the course. Also, there aren't enough materials for me to practice on. Another issue I have is that some the timing some of these courses were not flexible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are no business problems I am solving with Coursera.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you have compiled your own practice materials in order to have more stuff test your knowledge with. Also just because it's an online course don't be lazy with it. Make sure you complete all your work before the deadline!

Experience using online learning with Coursera
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Coursera is, it feels like you are taking classes at your school. They have a really good 'class room' experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to hate about it actually. The place where they can improve is on recommendations and user interface in general.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coursera is solving the problem for a lot of people who want to learn but either don't have the money or the time. For me personally it has been time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Motivate the users to 'stay on learn on'. One of the issues with online learning, which is very commonly heard among in my social network, is that it is hard to keep up even with the social feature they have. Because it is online, it kind of loses a little importance. So, some other way of keeping users motivated.
Coursera Review
What do you like best about the product?
I have helped complete over 20 courses on Coursera for my students at my peer mentoring sessions. I am extremely happy overall with my experience with it. It offers a huge spectrum of classes in many different disciplines from liberal arts, to engineering. Also, the courses are offered from big-name universities like Brown, Stanford etc making them legit and trustworthy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The prices for these courses are really high and most of my college students are not able to afford that kind of pricing. Also, there is less student interaction which makes it difficult for students to find answers for something they can't find online and is specific to the class. Maybe this can be changed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it at UNT to help my students get certified in various courses which are essential to building a skill set and a great addition to their resumes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The best web service for online courses, but you might want to try other software like codeacademy if you just need to learn the skills and don't care about the certificate. But definitely, if you want quality, Coursera is the place to go.
great platform

Personally I like that the course is spread over few weeks, there are peer and instructor review of graded work completed during the course which stimulates to study the chosen course and put an effort into it.

price and availability of courses (used to be free)

Coursera provides quick access to the course which are typically designed for a quick immersion into a subject with minimum prior knowledge required. Hence to understand new subject better it's a great way to to that.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the multiple course options! It is also clear in each description as to what we should expect. I like the variety.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a lot of tech options, I would love some more education/children focused. I disliked that not all of them have the option to be self taught, although I understand that may be a personal choice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's more so about professional development! Which is great-- I need 16 hours each year for work! It's really fun to learn more about different areas that I wasn't able to in college!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it for professional development for yourself or your employees! It has so many options, including self timing courses for the busy professional, or actual courses with deadlines for those who prefer school!
Best online education portal!

I love the topics, the platform works great. The courses are high quality. The diversity of topics is huge.

The prices of certification has gone really high. It switched from a free platform to a one that doesn’t let you take a course if you do not pay for it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sometimes I used the information from some of the videos to develop concepts in my work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It has good content and it has gained credibility through years.
Great for instructor education

I often use Coursera to browse different subjects to keep my own learning current
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were podcasts, not just video
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coursera allows me to keep my own learning current and up to date so I'm providing the best instruction to my students
A cool way to take informative courses on a variety of topics.
What do you like best about the product?
I like best the courses where you are not bound by weeks, where you can complete as quickly or as slowly as you want to.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that more and more of the material is costing money. Not even getting the certificates, but even taking quizzes is sometimes only opened up by paying. I understand you need to make money, but the appeal was the zero-cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When I need to learn about topics (coding, analytics, etc), I can take a free Coursera class instead of enrolling in a cost-based program.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are tons of excellent courses on here.
