Coursera Review

  • November 07, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have helped complete over 20 courses on Coursera for my students who come to me for career advising. I am extremely happy overall with my experience with it. It offers a huge spectrum of classes in many different disciplines from liberal arts, to engineering. There are always skills out there that people want to learn, but don't have a good way to do it. Coursera partners with teachers from reputed universities (ex. Johns Hopkins, Duke, Brown, etc.) to provide well-structured courses including lecture videos, homework, quizzes etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that Coursera charges so much for verified certificates for courses. The $50 or so per course may not seem like a lot for a good quality class, but it is infinitely more than the $0 option with no certificate. Also, it charges you around 300$ which is very expensive for most of the students I deal with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to help my students at TCU as a career advisor with taking new courses and building up their resumes with valuable certifications essential to their profile.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The best website out there to help students with difficult courses and build up their profile. A huge shoutout and thumbs up to the Coursera team. Definitely, recommend it.

Best Professional Development Out There!

  • November 02, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
The variety of courses to choose from is incredible! There are so many different subjects covered, and they are taught by amazing instructors! It is like I am getting an ivy league education for free!
What do you dislike about the product?
Some courses are only available on specific dates and I have missed out on classes I was really interested in. I understand why, but it would be nice if you could access any class at any time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Professional development is easier, I am able to learn new skills to use in my job for FREE, and i am able to continue learning at my pace from incredibly intelligent instructors!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Coursera is the best tool out there if you want to learn more about a certain area to improve your skills and knowledge! I love that it is so easy to use and there are TONS of courses in multiple areas of study! I also like that the instructors engage with you and that they are doing this simply because they want to better the world by providing education to people who need it and want it. Coursera is awesome, and I honestly don't have any dislikes! I also like that you can get a certificate in various courses! It's definitely a great site!

Coursera Review

What do you like best about the product?
It is the best website out there to learn new skills. Period.
Also, it is so easy to use and the courses are taught by the best professors from the best universities in the world. Totally worth every penny. But because I also use it in my mentor session in helping students learn new topics in an interactive way with the help of videos and online coding challenges.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get very pricey for students as most of them who are in college are not able to afford it in addition to their college fees etc. They really need to help students more so that they can help and benefit the society with a greater impact.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mainly use it to help my mentees with programming and getting course certificates which can prove beneficial to their careers ahead because they are worth adding to their resumes and CV'S.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Once you try Coursera it will be really hard to switch to any other platform for learning online courses.

Coursera Review

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Coursera is that not only do they have a wide variety of courses (everything from philosophy to medicine to data science to business), but they also have amazing partnerships with world-class schools (think Johns Hopkins, Wharton, Stanford, etc). This makes it really worth the time and money you invest in it. Also, you can get financial aid which makes it the best website out there.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with a university, the quality of the courses varies widely. Some professors are highly engaging, and some are incredibly boring. Also, I do not expect them to grade it for people who are doing the courses for free but their projects will help us solidify our concepts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it at my job at UT to help students get certifications for various courses easily and from reputed Universities.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Once you go Coursera, you never go back or switch to anything. Nothing can beat this website.

Coursera review

What do you like best about the product?
It is a really good software for students looking to get extra coursework done besides their classes.
Also, It has become really easy for our department to recommend students to use this website to get help with courses they want to take and learn. Also, students can extend their course deadline so that they can finish the courses as per their schedule.
What do you dislike about the product?
The courses can become expensive at times which makes it difficult for students to enroll and get a certificate. Also, the financial aid approval takes more than 15 days making it difficult for students to start studying for the course ASAP.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps our department to recommend students courses on this website and gain important knowledge. Also, the courses are provided from big-name universities which helps students in their careers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The best online learning website out there. And always remember to apply for financial aid.

New to machine learning? try this!

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The courses taught by the professors of other universities helped me gain deep insight into some of the topics. Especially the course on the machine learning was quite good.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the curriculum structures don't allow me to learn at my pace. So, I have to wait for the next lecture or assignment to begin. Had to wait for days in order to resume the course.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learned the machine learning using coursera.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The courses will definitely help you but all there is a lack of variation in the courses, but if you are really fond of the professors of other universities you can definitely go for it. Finding the right course can be difficult but when you find one, it's worth all the effort.

One of the Best

What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Coursera is the interface. Coursera has a very easy to use interface that allows for better concentration and progress. The website is easy to navigate through and is very well organized. Also, the materials for each course are available even if you do not pay for the certificate, so anyone can learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing I dislike about Coursera is the price of the courses. If they could make the courses a little cheaper it would help everyone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Coursera to teach fellow employees about Data Analytics. This is useful in my organization as a lot of data analytics is used and many employees are not up to date with the latest tools and techniques.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is recommended to others that want to use Coursera that you should definitely take a shot at it. The materials are free so even if you do not want to pay you do not need to.

Coursera Review for use in the Classroom and Professional Development

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I deeply appreciate the free educational resources that Coursera offers. I have used these classes for myself, and recommended them to secondary-level students. They help with professional development for an endless variety of careers and the courses all stem from reputable sources. Coursera offers an opportunity to expand the horizons of personal knowledge, or the opportunity to sign up a group up for the same class and go through development together.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were a few more free assessments in the courses that could help track learning, a greater selection of multiple choice "work checks" would be beneficial in better gauging understanding of the material in a succinct manner as a personal user and as an administrator.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Within the educational psychology field, professional development AND technological skills are critically important. Coursera offers classes that help with both of these areas, helping to boost the abilities of inexperienced individuals, as well as offer a personal-study option for students. Coursera's self-paced progression ensures that completing a course is within the abilities of nearly anyone as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Coursera has directions on how to sign up for and participate in a course, however an organization-wide training may be beneficial to show users the full extent of the website.

Great Tool for Those Self-Motivated to Learn

  • October 29, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Coursera offers a bounty of courses, giving you variety, options and flexibility. I like that real professors, experts in their study, are offering engaging lectures and course work.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is hard to motivate yourself to review old learning, lest you fall behind in the class. You are responsible to yourself, primarily, to complete your work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am becoming more of an expert in my field of study and staying onto of the most recent research.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I find it best to not exceed more than three courses at a time- allow yourself time to study, review and complete course work. Make sure you are interested in the topic or else it is easy to become disengaged and fall behind in the course.

Coursera is your bridge to your next job/ability.

What do you like best about the product?
I can decide to learn something like DataScience today and start taking well prepared courses right away at the comfort of my living room! Coursera allows me to do that.
What do you dislike about the product?
The courses are still too traditional, where everybody starts from the same spot and learns with the same pace. I want to see more feedback based learning, that uses AI to understand where you are standing right now (Placement) and when you learned or haven't mastered a subject. I am not sure how but I think if I worked for Coursera I would have found a way so I leave this for Coursera people to figure out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I learn new abilities and material by day and apply it to my work or get prepared for the next job!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking to learn a new skill professionally and be sure that you have covered all the bases.
