Splunk to New Relic - My Journey to Learning more about New Relic and Appreciating it more
What do you like best about the product?
- Search logs with the abiliity to see how often an issue is occurring
-Ability to search across multiple accounts
-Dashboard and tab option within dashboards
-Saved searches and drop down to navigate my previous searches

What do you dislike about the product?
-Difference between searching in Browse logs versus NRQL requires a different "language"/format
-Unable to see the raw log and surrounding events
-Unable to regex more than 5 values
-Unable to see the Total number of returned events when faceting
-Regex parsing issues with large events
-Unable to scroll on NRQL queries - Depending on screen size, I have issues where I can't see my charts so I have to view by image
-Unable to include a message with my alert
-Alerts are unable to be excluded within the interface for certain time periods

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to track and trend issues occurring in the field. There is a huge benefit to being able to pull a CSV. With saved searches, it's enabled me to quickly change between views. We are able to accurately alert on issues occurring within the field. I want to learn more about machine learning and utilizing that within our company.

I like the ability to save searches to help my coworkers perform similar tasks with minimal effort.

Inability to easily see the raw log in the search results.

New Relic makes it easy to support over 2700 store locations with all relevant information at your fingertips.

Extremely poweful and easy to use . Great tool for tracking the performance and health of our platform

quite expensive if you are using multile modules on a bigger infrastructure

It´s an essential tool for teams on call that needs to understand alterts in their apps

Easy to install and use , great APM features , helps a lot with troubleshooting slow transactions
Newrelic as a monitoring tool - should you use it?
What do you like best about the product?
The UI is great, simplistic yet straightforward, and intuitive. Once the initial configuration is set up, the rest is not difficult to figure out.

What do you dislike about the product?
They have made recent UI changes that, although they look easier on the eyes, make it harder to navigate. Also, user configuration is confusing. And if you have multiple applications, the portal does not do a good job maintaining the right project when navigating between pages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We primarily use NewRelice One to solve network problems. Cloud issues and application problems.

Nothing so far, however the retention interVal is a little bit short

What do you like best about the product?
The UX/UI interface is the biggest selling factor to me. I've used a few observability platforms and I find that others are too convoluted. If configured correctly New Relic can help new hires understand the extreme complexity of our internal infrastructure and monitor for our servers.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are so many params to use, which makes it more difficult than the benefit of flexibility as well as if would be very helpful if you can provide native python module for scripting.

Ease of integration with cloud platforms like GCP and our internally built applications.

I don't have to say anything about dislike but sometimes it takes some time to load the WebUI

Java application issue. This provides a full view of the Java application
A great observability platform for all of your applications
What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to set up. All you have to do is download the relevant agent for your applications, Java, Python, Dot Net whatever application it is. Install them and start running. That's it, now you see all your metrics in New Relic. I can use this to monitor my infrastruture, application performance, logs, synthetics, dashboards and alerts. Simple to use and enough documentation available. Great community support as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features are yet to mature. I can use it for log monitoring but don't think can be a replacement to other log monitoring tools like Splunk. Their NRQL query is simple but has so many limitations. You can't really write it like an SQL script.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring the performance of many of the applications ranging from Java, Python, Microservices, AWS serverless, and many more. Infrastructure monitoring, log monitoring. I have also created dashboards and alerts based these metrics.

What do you like best about the product?
New Relic is straightforward to configure and provides my team and me with all the information we need in one central location. I like the ability to export/share dashboards externally, and it has saved a lot of time when communicating with various stakeholders.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a slight learning curve as there is so much you can do with the software. It can feel a little intimidating at first. However, NewRelic does a fantastic job providing free educational resources and webinars so you can use the software to its full capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the main problems we are solving is capturing telemetrics and logs from our monolithic software. We now have all the logs in one central place compared to our engineers having to fetch and parse all this data manually. NewRelic now does all that for us!
Best monitoring tool in digital fast moving workspace with AI enabled
What do you like best about the product?
AI component. Synthetic monitoring & the recent pixie auto-telemetry feature. It's cool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Service maps don't have a time filter. Rest API support is lacking so far.

We have solved the operational silos so far with observability across teams. Data ingestion cost is cheap & reasonable.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a cost-effective & modern, fast-moving & complex digital environment to be monitored for zero downtime, this tool is the best choice.
