New Relic has been crucial for our infrastructure
What do you like best about the product?
New Relic has been a great monitoring tool for our infrastructure allowing us to send out automated alerts for CPU usage, Disk capacity and downtime. It's really simple to get going by installing an agent on each host with your API key and literally only takes minutes to get up and running. The alerting is very robust and customizable, and integrates well with all modern forms of alerts, whether that be SMS, email, and web hook integrations with collaboration clients like Slack.
What do you dislike about the product?
The paid services can quickly get expensive if you have a lot of infrastructure to monitor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
New Relic has helped us solve the problem of monitoring our infrastructure and alerting us when there are problems. Instead of hearing from other employees or end-users we are able to find out the status of infrastructure before that happens.

Best of breed APM
What do you like best about the product?
Tight Rails integration makes for solid insight and easy setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
Per-server pricing for similar servers makes cost scale disproportionately to value.

Understanding performance of applications in production.
Very powerful analytics tool

What do you dislike about the product?
Tracking individual requests is relatively difficult to setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Newrelic to monitor our web apps, metrics like server response time, error rate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for an easy solution for monitoring your web apps, try New Relic.
New relic has helped us automatically track errors before our customers find them!
What do you like best about the product?
Automatic reports of the health of our websites telling us if there are any errors. It's great to receive emails with these updates which we forward into our project management tool for them to be assigned to look into.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found anything in particular so far that I dislike. The application suites our use-case pretty well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have around 5 servers involved in our development/production workflow that need monitoring. New relic provides automatic monitoring of these servers and sends us emails anytime anything is wrong. This is great because it catches things before our customers see issues.
Great all in one solution with good team support
What do you like best about the product?
- Centralized threshold based monitoring for majority of data sources
- Deep easy to use integration with common application frameworks like Django
- Good responsive support team
- NewRelic Insight is pretty useful for getting more detailed analysis

What do you dislike about the product?
- performance lags sometimes
- ALL alerts must be threshold based, sometimes, we want to get alerted on ANY incidence of a particular type
- gets costly once you scale up

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saas application server monitoring, we integrated very easily through Heroku and have pretty good SSO support for the entire team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely try them out at the free tier and then decide whether to upgrade.
Wow level of information
What do you like best about the product?
For web application analysis the level of information available is insane. It goes into details like application load time api calls, time taken, errors happening, user interactions with the page....the whole works!
What do you dislike about the product?
The ui gets a bit getting used to. Its almost like a developer tool bar for a web engineer. But once you understand your way around, it is like a big timeline of what user does on the application
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance of our web application in mobile devices. Especially the load time was a concern for us - the application was having a significant time lapse from the time user tried to accesss the application and when he heard the music play.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For tracking the performance of web applications - it does not get better than this.
Excensial tool for DevOps
What do you like best about the product?
The simplest way to use and see what's happening with my infrastructure and applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile app, the alarms systems and (most important) the disk IO analysis. NewRelic don't have a physical disk IO, just logical IO
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can prevent problems on my infrastructure and be active to solve performance problems in my applications.
New Relic is awesome!!!
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of implementation
Ability to configure objects and events and view actions as funnel
Ability to dig deep down into an event and find the root cause of that event (esp. if unknown - like an error)

What do you dislike about the product?
Bloated interface - In the age of conversational bots, I'd like to be able to converse with a New Relic bot authenticated to my account and show me the main things I ask for. Right now, I have to go through severeral menus to gain access to features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring of website of website traffic - I develop several web apps and I need to monitor if there is dip in traffic or if something has been badly configured for investigation purposes. Conventional analytics platforms only show "what happened" - list events and timestamps. With New Relic, I can investigate what happened - is the event user-related (did the user do something that caused the error), is the event linked the size of an image making the entire page load slowly, are the scripts too big and not relying on a pre-loader? New Relic is essentially an analytics and forensic platform! It works out of the box and you get a lot more from using it than with conventional analytics platforms.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You'll need someone who is highly analytical to use the interface and investigate the issues - insight still needs to be translated by a human - New Relic only presents you with the forensic data.
Love it for health and hygiene story planning
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to see most frequent errors and create a Jira story based on the error.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not always easy to nail down database issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Has helped increase performance and reliability for customers
