Dynatrace: The Rise of BizDevOps

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that DT is paying attention to the gaps between IT and stakeholders and tailoring the product to work for both while facilitating an ongoing dialogue between the 2. By making metrics like the ones visible through Dynatrace available in such an easy-to-use and visually appealing way, website health is sort of addictive. Suddenly, conversion and booking numbers matter to our developers, and CPU usage matters to our executives.
What do you dislike about the product?
Roadmaps are well presented at the yearly conference and then shared to the community through several channels (social, email, blog, etc) but certain tracks seem to go “dark” after that and communication/documentation isn’t exactly where I’d like to see it as a customer and advocate within my company. This area has improved over the last year and i’d Like to see more visibility for release notes (pop up when logging in with a link over just a mention in the blog or, at least a direct link to the blog).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance, opportunity, and monitoring. We’ve been able to build a more reliable application and solve critical issues much faster using DT. By establishing key metrics and socializing those, we’ve also set the gold standard at our company for what APM and DEM should look like by building a comprehensive set of rules, alerts, dashboards, and more that meet the needs or not just our technical teams, but those of our stakeholders, and ultimately our customers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Understand all the offerings and how they fit into your stack before you dive in and be sure to look at this tool as more than just a way to know when something breaks. You want to fix outages sure, but you want to also avoid them and as you grow, you want to track your users in a way that helps you understand them and ultimately change your product to better suit their needs as we all grow.

Complicated but impressive

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to deep dive on issues in our java environment and being able to pull historical data especially from our databases.
What do you dislike about the product?
The complexity of setting up appmon as well as creating dashboards and measures made getting it set difficult and getting developers to create their own dashboards difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance analysis and being able to diagnose user errors.

Dynatrace for SAP

What do you like best about the product?
The way that you can pin point an issue is amazing and with the kind of details ... it does help me leverage with the user requirement and performance which is great
The setup of 1 device and it discovering everything around is soooooooooooo good!
What do you dislike about the product?
Don’t have an answer yet but maybe this replay maybe of security concern as I work for Government and that data we cannot be storing / replaying with control center employees.
Very focused on Cloud but countries not yet open to cloud, need attention to on premise as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Application performance, monitoring, pro active approach, un-necessary clogging and simplifying

Perfect application monitoring

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s user friendly and captures the necessary information to monitor our environment and identify issues immediately.
What do you dislike about the product?
We’d like to expand usage into our data center operations but need monitoring capabilities for hyperV which is the biggest deterrent in that part of our organization right now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analyzing performance issues in our applications using appmon.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It’s becoming market lead and very useful tool to find any customer issues.

Great learning and networking experience.

What do you like best about the product?
Communicating with peers and meeting the sale reps.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven’t run across anything that I have disliked yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved an issue with an error that our users were getting inconsistently. After going down the purepaths we noticed that our session stickiness wasn’t set up correctly. It save the users time and frustration by no longer getting the error.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check it out. It is worth the POC to see what Dynatrace can do for your company.

Best APM tool on the market

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and the ability to find and solve issues quickly. What can take days without an APM tool takes 15 to 20 minutes to solve now.
What do you dislike about the product?
The difference between Dynatrace and Appmon. If you're an Appmon user, getting use to Dynatrace can be a bit of a challenge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Slowness issues, database issues and the ability to be proactive vs reactive. We have significantly reduced response times using Dynatrace as well as detected memory and threading issues before applications made their way to production.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start out getting Dynatrace setup correctly before rolling it out to multiple users. Build meaningful dashboards, management zones and think about all your tagging rules. Take the time to prep before diving right into Dynatrace.

Best APM solution

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dynatrace Perform 2018
HOT Day is great with very experienced professionals focused on key areas. They also gave as the opportunity for hands-on practice.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hot Day description should clearly mention what Dynatrace products, agents and details for each session so the attendees can select session as per their needs against products they have or intend to have
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Slow application.
Quickly identify where problemic areas are
User Experience metrics
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Hard for new users

Transitioning to DT (managed) from Appmon is VERY easy

  • January 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Oneagent is way easier than the old appmon agent and allows for very rapid deployment. There is no complicated setup, and it is extremely easy to script and deploy at scale. The Problem "dashlet" finds problems so quickly that it is initially difficult to believe how easy it was.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool prioritizes front end user experience. While this is fantastic for current companies, companies using legacy tech that rely heavily on server side monitoring will have a slightly harder time wrapping their head around the new tool. Old school alerting functionality needs work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dynatrace has allowed us to shed light into "it is a database problem" or "it is an esxi host" problem. There is no more guesswork or conflicting info from tools. there is no more pass the blame mentality. Dynatrace always has the right answer, and the entire rest of the call is simply waiting for that answer to sink in.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dont overthink, embrace UEM, script EVERYTHING, make heavy use of the API.
