Best synthetic monitoring you can get

  • June 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Catchpoint provides the most comprehensive synthetic monitoring and we rely on Catchpoint to measure our availability from our private and Catchpoint's public nodes around the world. When there is an alert, Catchpoint's debug on error helps identify whether the failure is caused by packet loss and at which hop. In addition, Catchpoint can be directly integrated with our incident management tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Catchpoint's API still has a lot of improvement opportunities. For example, we want to automate 100% test configuration through API's. However, Catchpoint's API is not available for alert configuration. We still have to manually set the alert using Catchpoint's Web portal. The other feedback from our users is that Catchpoint UI is not intuitive especially when navigating between divisions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alert on any service availability issue and provide SLA reporting on availability.

Critical tool for SRE.

What do you like best about the product?
Robust and flexible tool set, with a support and dev staff that listens.
What do you dislike about the product?
All of my dislikes have been addressed by the company in sprints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to ensure product reliability globally, and have the information to act quickly if something goes wrong. In addition, I lead 2 operations teams, whose expertise varies. My support engineer has been able to jump in and help us diagnose issues, which is above and beyond.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I dinged Catchpoint slightly for ease of use, set up, and admin. I wish the questions were worded differently, but even though some aspects of the tool are more complex than competitors, the functional gains make the LOE worth it hands down.

Excellent tool for monitoring our site

  • June 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We tried a lot of different tools before settling on Catchpoint. The big differentiators for us were the depth of the analysis, so we can really get to the root of problems when there are errors on our site; and the versatility of the dashboards and analytics, so that we can generate meaningful reports and answer questions that other tools wouldn't be able to express.

We also get good use out of the internal nodes for testing our internal applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is some ability to filter out noise but a bit more flexibility there would be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Catchpoint both for ongoing monitoring of our site, and for validations during deployments and updates.

Exceptional product and service - treat our relation as both partnership and customer

What do you like best about the product?
Tools make it very easy to fully understand where there are availability and performance issues with customer-facing web applications. And their product provides the ability to dive deeply into the details of the symptoms that help to pinpoint the root cause of problems and opportunities.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pay-by-point system that is used to purchase their product can make it challenging to project the cost and track usage of points, though I am not aware of any alternative to this model. It is just something to be aware of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The infrastructure used to deliver web applications (websites) to millions of prospects and customers to any device is built on a complex network and software architecture. Many different tools are in place to monitor availability and measure performances within specific systems, layers and components, but we lacked a holistic view from the perspective of the end user. Catchpoint fills that gap and then some. We periodically evaluate alternative tools, but Catchpoint continues to be the most effective and best value since it was first used in 2014.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start with a free trial and ensure you kick the tires hard. Understand the points system before purchasing and make sure someone at your company governs the use of the product and tracks point usage.
