Buyer Beware

  • March 11, 2021
  • Review verified by AWS Marketplace

We purchased the BlackBerry Protect product through the AWS marketplace over a month ago and were charged already via AWS. After receiving an automated email from BlackBerry stating: "Our team is hard at work setting up your account, please expect to hear from a member of our customer success team soon. " we still have not heard back even after multiple emails sent to support. No one from their sales or technical support team will reply. Their automated support agent is useless. I don't recommend purchasing this product through AWS at this time until they resolve their procurement processes.

What do you like best about the product?
Functionality of multiple instances such as instance message and email part. This is very feasible when work from home phase or else being updated on small things happening in the organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing like dislikes but the user interface of the application is very common as well as it should not be considered as the messaging app waiting for updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
May your Blackberry connect application consumes your phones battery rapidly so make sure that you have enabled your battery saver.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Less complex application & Design for Organizational Communication.

BlackBerry Connect

  • November 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
BlackBerry Connect offers instant messaging, presence, file share and document editing while protecting data both in transit and at rest. It routes instant messages safely from behind the firewall to mobile devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because of the security check software BlackBerry take 5 to 10 minutes to turn on after unplugging the battery. The BlackBerry curve and BlackBerry bold are the big, bulky phones. It may not be able to fit in your pockets

"Easy To Implement, Administer And Maintain, While Options May Be Slightly Lagging"

  • November 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and integration with on-prem and cloud service connectors Once setup, can be mostly hands off from a Senior Engineer perspective. Local Help Desks need only manage enrollment via AD groups and very little need to access the admin console. Self-Help further reduces the resource requirements of local help desks Highly customization
What do you dislike about the product?
BlackBerry should implement features that tie into Exchange ActiveSync on a quicker schedule. High CPU/RAM needs for SQL and Core services.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having work with BlackBerry for so long, we have been able to develop relationships directly with Product Managers who have been extremely receptive to discussions regarding the product line. Support is responsive, but knowing the basic steps support will run through prior to opening a ticket will greatly speed up the process to resolution and remove some of the back and forth.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Depending if you are cloud or on-prem, there are several components required for a complete solution (SQL, Core/Admin, Proxy, BEMS). SQL and Core services do require high CPU/RAM availability given our device count (14,000+) but once installed and configured, only require standard Windows patching and UEM upgrades ~once a quarter. BlackBerry would benefit from a more unified admin console across UEM and BEMS, but it is manageable. For 14,000 devices and 10,000 users, it requires less than 1 FTE for continued management.

What do you dislike about the product?
It is a limited platform, whilst it is good not enough people use and it creates issues on cross training as well as user adoption because it is not always what people are used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Connecting people and not having to have all coms in emails.
